Hi - just stumbled on this thread and wanted to say hi. My wife and I love POFQ and we were just there (again) last week.

Hi lissiesmum.
The photo you found is a different fountain than the one in the photo I found of the bicycling family. In the photo you found, it looks as though there are "frogs" on the sides of the fountain and the water sprays from their mouths; in the photo I found there are no frogs on the sides of the fountain.

When I go down there in 10 days I'll look around some more, a lot more, and see if I can find that fountain (the one you found a photo of).

ETA - I'm a little surprised no one else has piped up to say they know where the froggy fountain is. Anyone?

The froggy fountain takes a bit of searching to find (unless you happen to be in the "right" building)...

I believe it's in the "courtyard" amongst buildings 7, 6, and 4 -- towards the parking lots NOT towards the river.

EG

Thanks, DAniece!

I'll try to get over there and take a photo or two.

Learn something new everyday here on the DIS!!! :thumbsup2

Abby's Dad we are right down the river from you-Marine City!:lmao: Small World!
We are going to be at POFQ end of Nov.
Have agreat trip!:goodvibes

:woohoo: How crazy is that? Used to have brother-in-law that lived in MC. We'll make sure to leave everything nice and tidy for you - thanks for the good wishes, check out our trip report when we get back, and you all have a wonderful time!

Wow, who would have thunk a picture could be surrounded by so much mystery? I didn't even notice the frogs on the sides :) TP, if you could find it in TEN DAYS (you lucky girl!) and let us know what buildings it is facing, I would love to know so I can request it when we go. It just looks so peaceful there and I am a Pisces and am always drawn to running water (for some reason, I like the views of the fountains over the views of the river):confused3 I can't wait til TP gets back with new pics and exciting stories...we can all live vicariously through you until we get our turn!

Ok, new pics, yeah - but exciting stories? I am about the most un-exciting person you will ever meet on these DIS boards. I’m a nearly 55-year old, "fluffy" but not Pooh-sized, 5 foot something-and-shrinking-as-we-speak granny wanna-be (my sons have yet to find the young ladies that will be my daughters!).

Well, when I think about it, there was the time:

- last spring when I tried to body block a mountain of a 6 foot whatever guy to keep him from jumping the line in the Nemo ride at Epcot (I lost)

- also last spring when I was riding BTMRR with my DSis and centrifugal force pushed me against the side of the car so hard I literally tore a chest muscle (that’s what the doctor at the ER clinic said). Thank goodness I’ve been divorced for years and don’t have a DH to explain that to.

- again last spring when I caught a major throat bug and wound up back at the same ER clinic, seeing the same doctor, who said that if this is what happens to me on vacation he would hate to see what my “normal” life is like

- when my youngest son was 4 years old and my (now ex) DH took him on Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride while I rode with DS 9. Turns out my DS 4 was afraid (no, more like terrified) of the ride (no, we didn't know he would be afraid) and screamed the whole way through, and I couldn't stop laughing about it. It was only funny because it was happening to DH and not to me

- last year when my DSis and I were walking down the ramp from the monorail to the MK when some looney Dad in front of me decided to stop right in the middle of the ramp and all those people and pour cookie crumbs from a package into his DS (about 5) mouth. My DSis and I both dodged them, and under her breath she said, “Twit”. The looney thought I had said it and pursued me the whole way to the security gates yelling at me, “What did you call me?” “You stupid b****!”, “Turn around and talk to me!!!”. When I was about to go through security I looked at him and said, “Have a magical day.”

I’m sure you get the idea.

Nope, nothing exciting ever happens to me.

Too much! Those are some stories that you wouldn't expect to hear on your average WDW vacation! Those are the best kinds of stories...sounds like our Mexican Riviera honeymoon...most people come back with "the weather was beautiful" "we had such an amazing time" etc. We had way too many crazy stories, but they are ones that we'll never forget and ones that probably not many others share :rotfl2:

So tell your Mexican Riviera honeymoon story. I have one of those to tell on my daughter. This past May there were 31 of us that went to the Mexican Riviera for my daughter's wedding. The wedding was perfect, but the day after the wedding a tropical depression set up on top of us. It rained a lot for most of the next 5 days (the last 5 days we were there). Us old people just sat in the pools and walked on the beaches rain or no rain. The YOUNG people found more fun things to do....BOTH of my daughters, including the new bride, came back pregnant! :rotfl2: This was a wedding/honeymoon trip that won't be forgotten!

Do any of you POFQ die-hards know when was the last time the pool was closed for refurbishment? I am going this Friday to AAA to book my Sept. 08 trip and the pool is hugely important to us. I know we can use the pools at POR...but really want to use the POFQ pool. We stayed at POFQ last year in Sept...got the free dining (praying for that 2008) and fell in love with POFQ.
I thought that after staying @ WL I would not be happy with POFQ. Boy, was I wrong! I hope someone can tell me about the pool AND that there are rooms when My daughter and I go to book this Friday. ( I have to wait for her to have time off...she wants to be there...aaaargggh)Wish me luck!:goodvibes

Hmmm. My first visit there was in 2002, and I returned in 2005, 2006, and this year, and I don't recall any POFQ pool refurbs during those years. I don't know about 2003 or 2004, or the years before 2002.

As for the room reservation, since you're making it a year ahead of time there will be no problem.

Im planning on buying the refillable mugs but I like to mix my ice tea or lemonade with water, do the have water with the fountian drinks?

We are only 11 days from staying here for the first time and I can't wait. Time seems to be standing still.:scared1:

13 days for my first time there, too! I understand about the "time standing still." It's driving me crazy, and I'm having a hard time restraining myself from packing NOW. :dance3:

Okay, I'll briefly talk about our honeymoon (and I guess that is why I want this WDW trip to go so smoothly because it was our last big trip together!)

We got married in Las Vegas, spent three days, then flew back to Boston before we flew out to Mexico. Over the skies of Boston before we landed, we almost collided with another plane that was ascending and there were emergency crews waiting for us when we arrived (no one was hurt). We flew out to Mexico the next day and the skies were pretty dark when we arrived (this was mid May) so I figured it was going to rain. Well, a Tropical Storm went through (a slow moving one) and it rained for six out of seven days that we were there. We barely left our hotel room, which, normally is nothing new for honeymooners, except the fact that we both became ill on day three. The hotel claimed they purified the water we ate and drank including ice cubes, and no one else was getting sick so it may have been something from the plane. One of the days we were ill, we managed to go to a craft area and painted a beautiful ceramic plate together that we were going to mount when we got home (more on this in a few). On the last day of our trip, the sun came out and we did get a beautiful day at Chichen Itza. Our departure day, we were finally over our illness, and we walked over to check out. I tripped on the cement and severely sprained my ankle and was carried to the check out in a golf cart. It was such a bumpy ride that our beautiful plate that we had worked so hard on broke into pieces. They upgraded us to a limo to go to the airport and on our way to the airport, we got into a car accident. We miraculously made it in time and were allowed in quickly because I was in a wheelchair. And then we amazingly had a smooth flight on the way home and we are living happily ever after (but during this time, I kept asking, is someone trying to tell us something here? ) :rotfl:

There are a ton more little instances, but it would take a long time to list them all! At first I was so disappointed, but the more I told the story, the more I realized there are not many people who can tell stories about this from their honeymoon! Hope you all enjoyed my crazy story and hopefully my first trip to POFQ will include NONE of these events :)

lissiesmum when are you going I might want to re scheduale my trip:rotfl2: Just joking I hope the mafic of Disney fills this trip for you and your hubby!Have agreat and safe time!:lmao:

I have a quick question, are there microwaves in the room? And if not in the room are there microwaves in the food court? Just curious, I know there are coffee makers and refridgerators.

Thanks! I'll be livin it up at POFQ in 4 more days!

No microwaves in the rooms, but there are two located on opposite sides of the beverage station at the food court.
