Okay, I'll briefly talk about our honeymoon (and I guess that is why I want this WDW trip to go so smoothly because it was our last big trip together!)

We got married in Las Vegas, spent three days, then flew back to Boston before we flew out to Mexico. Over the skies of Boston before we landed, we almost collided with another plane that was ascending and there were emergency crews waiting for us when we arrived (no one was hurt). We flew out to Mexico the next day and the skies were pretty dark when we arrived (this was mid May) so I figured it was going to rain. Well, a Tropical Storm went through (a slow moving one) and it rained for six out of seven days that we were there. We barely left our hotel room, which, normally is nothing new for honeymooners, except the fact that we both became ill on day three. The hotel claimed they purified the water we ate and drank including ice cubes, and no one else was getting sick so it may have been something from the plane. One of the days we were ill, we managed to go to a craft area and painted a beautiful ceramic plate together that we were going to mount when we got home (more on this in a few). On the last day of our trip, the sun came out and we did get a beautiful day at Chichen Itza. Our departure day, we were finally over our illness, and we walked over to check out. I tripped on the cement and severely sprained my ankle and was carried to the check out in a golf cart. It was such a bumpy ride that our beautiful plate that we had worked so hard on broke into pieces. They upgraded us to a limo to go to the airport and on our way to the airport, we got into a car accident. We miraculously made it in time and were allowed in quickly because I was in a wheelchair. And then we amazingly had a smooth flight on the way home and we are living happily ever after (but during this time, I kept asking, is someone trying to tell us something here? ) :rotfl:

There are a ton more little instances, but it would take a long time to list them all! At first I was so disappointed, but the more I told the story, the more I realized there are not many people who can tell stories about this from their honeymoon! Hope you all enjoyed my crazy story and hopefully my first trip to POFQ will include NONE of these events :)

I sure enjoyed your story. We had a similar experience when we went to Aculpulco for our honeymoon 28 years ago (May). We had good weather, but we were so sick the entire trip. Many other little things happened with our honeymoon too. Then my daughter and our whole family had the tropical depression when they were in Mexico getting married this past May (on our anniversary). Maybe May isn't the month to go to Mexico!!! I wish you a happy life (we've lasted quite a few years since that trip) and I also wish you lots of wonderful trips to come!

Sorry if these are repeat questions, but I don't have the time or patience to read through 87 pages of this thread.:surfweb: I only made it through 10. Plus, this thread started in 2003 and things may have changed by now.

Wondering about the bus to MK: How often does it pick up at POFQ and how long is the ride?

What about the boat to DTD? How often does it pick up at POFQ and how long is the ride?

What is the best way to get to AKL and CR? Take the bus to TTC?

How about getting to Seaworld? Heard about taking Bus #50? at DTD. What about a cab? Expensive? Anyone done either?

Thanks in advance. 4 weeks til our trip!

I can't answer all of your questions, but here is a cool site to tell you how to get from here to there and how long it will take.

Nettii, don't worry, we're not planning on going until late 2008 :)

I wish you a happy life (we've lasted quite a few years since that trip) and I also wish you lots of wonderful trips to come!

Thanks KarlaG4kids! We are a happy little family and look forward to our first big trip to WDW together. I haven't been myself to WDW since I was 16, and even then my parents were out of the park before fireworks, parades, etc :confused3 Always trying to miss those crowds! I find the disboards so valuable as I want to know everything to make sure that we don't miss out on anything on our trip.

Tink's Pixieduster, how many days left before you go? Are you down to a week yet?

The buses ride pretty regularly and the best part is that even though we share a bus with POR, quests at POFQ are the first to be picked up and the first to be dropped off. If I remember correctly the bus ride was the longest to Magic Kingdom. Maybe 12-15 minutes?

The boat ride is forever, but we drove to Downtown Disney once and we will never do it again. The parking lot was packed and it took up an hour to find a spot! The boat road, at least it felt like, was about 25-30 minutes. But it was relaxing.

Not sure about your other questions, but you will love POFQ. Nice and quiet and peaceful!

Wondering about the bus to MK: How often does it pick up at POFQ and how long is the ride?
Disney Transport buses generally run about every 20 minutes. The on-the-road time to MK is about 10 minutes.
What about the boat to DTD? How often does it pick up at POFQ and how long is the ride?
The boat runs about every 10-15 minutes, and from POFQ it's about a 15 minute ride, and a very pleasant one. There is also a bus in addition to the boat.
What is the best way to get to AKL and CR? Take the bus to TTC?
In this context, forget the TTC. There is no direct bus service between resorts and TTC. You must use a park or Downtown Disney as a transfer point.

Animal Kingdom is a natural transfer point for AKL, as long as it is open. Simply due to geography, avoid using DTD as a transfer point unless it's the only thing still open.

To get to CR, take the bus to MK, and from there either walk or take the monorail.

Happy trails!:moped:

To get to Sea world you take onsite transportation to the ticket & transportation center. Exit TT and go left past the gift shop to the parking lot. In the parking lot turn left and the lynx bus is marked with a paw print. I do believe it is bus #50. It goes every 30 minutes. There is a lynx schedule at this link http://www.golynx.com/routes.cfm

It is really a very convenient/inexpensive way to get between Sea World and Disney World. I think it is about $1.50 each way. It is pretty much a direct route (not many stops) and it drops you off at the Sea World parking lot. You do have to walk across the parking lot. I would prefer to spend my $25 or more on souveniers instead of a taxi, but some people may prefer the taxi so they can be picked up at their hotel.

We LOVE POFQ!!

One of the best things about it is the boat ride to DTD. It is SO relaxing and if you get a fun "captain" it's also very entertaining. We make it a point to do this every year. Also, if you have ADRs at Boatrights at POR or just want to go explore the resort you can take the boat, a horse drawn carriage or it's a nice short walk by the water if you choose to go it on foot. (I know..who wants to walk MORE in WDW..but this walk is nice and relaxing) We can't wait to be back there in exactly 99 days!!! *YIPPEE*

Karlag4kids- Do you happen to know how long it takes from the Lynx bus stop to SW?

According to the Lynx schedule it shows it is 37 minutes from the TTC to Sea World. I would say that is pretty accurate. It probably would take you very little more time than with a taxi or transfer, but of course you have to allow time to get to the TTC.

What time in the morning do the boats start running to DTD? 18 days and counting to my fist stay at POFQ :cool1:

We'll be there in less than two weeks, and the trip report should start being posted probably starting somewhere around 9/17.

Guess What! I talk to my mom and our family will take the Port Orleans French Quarter!

Has anyone stayed here the week before Thanksgiving? I've been researching the month of November and I noticed the decorations and Christmas parties at the parks start the second week of November and I was hoping maybe POFQ was decorated before Thanksgiving. Does anyone know? If so, it will be really hard trying to decide on MVMCP or MNSSHP! :scared: Thanks, and those of you leaving soon, have a great trip and can't wait to hear about it when you get back
