We are staying in POFQ next August and have never stayed on-site before. How can I tell which are the best rooms/buildings to request when I make my booking.

Does anyone have any advice?

Subscribing to this thread. POFQ is my favorite resort! I don't know how this thread has escaped me! Will catch up some and then repost. We just got back from WDW FQ...stayed a week during August. Have lots of pictures and information.

There is no such thing as the best rooms/buildings at any of the WDW resorts; there is, however, what is best for you personally. It all depends on what you like. I would make a list of what is important to you and then look back at the beginning of this thread for the resort map to see what most fits your criteria. Some things to think about:

Do you want a river view?
Do you want lots of light and windows? Corner rooms often have 2 windows.
Do you hate stairs/elevators? Request 1st floor
Does it bother you to have lots of people walk past your room? Don't stay on the 1st floor
Do you want to be right by the bus stop?
Do you want to have a view of the pool?
Want to catch a glimpse of the Illuminations fireworks?
Do you have a car and want to be close to the parking lot?

Lots to think about......have fun planning!

Yay! Looking forward to hearing about your stay and seeing your pics!

My sister on the other hand just returned from the Y&B Club late last night. She made three requests - some of which were noted as "health-related" because she is 7 months pregnant - and none of her requests were granted.

The same thing happened to us.

I have an theory about room location requests: the more you want (or need), the less you're going to get! So I've decided not to request anything at all for future stays as the best room location we ever had was the one where I was totally clueless and never even thought to be in a specific area.

Now, as mentioned previously, you can't go wrong at POFQ because the resort is laid out so well that any room is a short walk from the main bldgs./buses. So don't worry -- be happy!!!

This thread has been great, thanks to everyone for pictures and information!

We arrive at POFQ - - TOMORROW!! :cool1: :yay:

I LOVE Port Orleans French Quarter!

For you newbies...where do I start? Yes, you definitely have made the right choice by choosing the French Quarter. It's small so it is quaint. Everything is in close proximity to each other. Here are a few pictures of rooms on the river...

The pool is very large. Divided in 3 different parts so there is lots of room to spread out. The laundry is in the same building as the pool bar so that if you want to pop a load in while your at the pool it's easy. Towels are provided.

Thanks for the pictures Dawn! Our trip is in 12 days and we are staying at POFQ. Your pics just made me even more excited if that is possible!!

Here are some pictures of the room. We like the curtain that pulls across near the sinks. Makes the "bathroom" have plenty of room. Remember there is a refrigerator in all the rooms. So if you want to pack a couple breakfast or snack items in the suitcase or purchase them in the store, you can put your milk in the frig. Saves money and time in the morning. There is also a small coffee pot. Pick up some flavored gourment Mickey coffee in the store for a treat! They do provide the regular and decaffenated coffee packets.

Does the coffee maker take regular ground coffee or those little pod things with coffee in them? I want to surprise DH with good coffee but don't know which kind to get.

Also, do you think there is enough room to put a pack'n'play behind the curtain?

One more post for now, then I have to start picking the boys up from school.

We love their food court. My favorites are the quesadilla (sp?)and chicken caesar salad. The boys LOVE the personal pan pizzas. Everythings good. The homemade shakes, turkey wraps, chicken strips, pasta and meatballs. I have to quit...I'm getting hungry!

Don't forget to take the boats to either Riverside or Downtown Disney. It is a very relaxing way to go.

To pick up the buses is still the best of the resorts because it is so small and only has the one stop so that it doesn't get skipped. It used to be the first on and off but the last time I was there that was no longer so. It still beats the larger resorts. Most of the time, there is a cast member there monitoring the buses, so they'll call if there is any problem.

Have to run will check back later. Dawn

They have the little pod things but if you wanted to bring your own filter ground coffee works fine.

Yes, you could set up the pack n play behind the curtain. You'd probably want to pull it up during the day but you would be able with no problem put them behind the curtain.

So, POFQ is no longer the first and last dropped off? Where does the bus go first? This is a reason we picked this resort, so just wondering. Also, how is the food over at Riverside??

Oh my gosh Dawn!! I just noticed that you are from the 'zoo! I went to Western and DH went to K College. Although we didn't know each other in those days, that place is near and dear to our hearts. I just moved to Ohio a couple of months ago and it's killing us not to get to Homecoming this year. Have you had any Bilbo's pizza lately? We miss that stuff!

Thanks for all the pics and advice on POFQ. We are SUPER excited! I love the idea of the PnP behind the curtain at night. DS likes his space for sleeping. Question: Should I have the PnP added to my ressies?

I have the same question! :confused3 This is one of my main reasons for choosing FQ... the fact that even though it shares buses with Riverside it is always the first picked up and dropped off! Help! :scared:

We had the PnP added to our ressie. So maybe just call whoever you booked with and add that :)

Dreagirl -- I'll be arriving a day before you, 10/2. I'll keep my eyes open for your cute little girl and maybe get to say Hi to you!
