Dreagirl -- I'll be arriving a day before you, 10/2. I'll keep my eyes open for your cute little girl and maybe get to say Hi to you!

Deb

Cool! Def. say hi! Hopefully we'll run into each other. I'm sure you'll hear us before you see us, DD is in a screaming phase (happy screams). :)

So, POFQ is no longer the first and last dropped off? Where does the bus go first? This is a reason we picked this resort, so just wondering. Also, how is the food over at Riverside??

No the POFQ was not the first picked up or the first dropped off as it always had been. I still find the bussing here works the best of all the resorts. Because there is only one stop they are not to be missed.

We like the food at Riverside. We think the 16" pizzas to be the best in the area. It is just alot more hectic considering the size of the resort. Even at it's busy times, the FQ food court is less hectic again because of the numbers.

Oh my gosh Dawn!! I just noticed that you are from the 'zoo! I went to Western and DH went to K College. Although we didn't know each other in those days, that place is near and dear to our hearts. I just moved to Ohio a couple of months ago and it's killing us not to get to Homecoming this year. Have you had any Bilbo's pizza lately? We miss that stuff!

Thanks for all the pics and advice on POFQ. We are SUPER excited! I love the idea of the PnP behind the curtain at night. DS likes his space for sleeping. Question: Should I have the PnP added to my ressies?

We usually don't go to Bilbo's because it is on the other side of town from me. We're in Comstock. Our favorite pizza if we go somewhere is Lake Doster's.

I would definitely put in on your reservations. I also call the resort a week or less before you go to tell them directly. Remember the resort does not get your reservations until 7 days before your date. 407.934.5000

Ok, I have a couple more questions on this-- if FQ is a stop on the entire PO bus route how could the busing at FQ work the best if you are sharing with Riverside and are NOT being picked up/dropped off first? This was a huge plus for me over Riverside so I need mucho info- and you are the first one to post it here. Were you ever stuck in standing room only OR were buses too filled by the time they reached FQ? We are going to be at the world at a very busy time (Memorial Day) and this is a big priority for us. Thanks for the info and your help! ;)

Because FQ has only one stop. The cast member calls in if a bus does not show every 15 - 20 minutes as promised. I have seen Riverside and other stops completely passed because the bus was full. I've never had a problem at the FQ and we've been there all different times. I hope that answers your question.

Not to dispute what anyone else's experience was, but we just got back on Sept. 9th and our experience with the buses was POFQ was ALWAYS picked up first, with two exceptions: 1) the bus for DTD/Typhoon Lagoon always stopped at POR first, and 2) the ME bus also stopped at POR first. Besides these two exceptions POFQ guests were always picked up before POR guests.

Thought I would also share some photos from our trip. It went waaaayy too fast, even though we were there for 9 days. I can't wait to go again, but don't know when that will be.

Tink:

Thanks for all the great pics! It looks to beautiful and calm there :)

TO dsparks:

I am probably just stupid, but I still don't understand what you're saying about the buses (forgive my brain). This is the first I have ever heard of POFQ not being picked up first. Was it a one-time thing, or did this happen very often??

Thanks

You're welcome! It was very peaceful and beautiful. I had a wonderful time just walking around the grounds and soaking up all the sights and sounds.

And, although I am not dsparks, I can tell you that as for the buses, see what I wrote at the top of post 1426. This was the 4th time I've stayed at POFQ, and the DTD/TL bus, and the ME bus back to the airport are the only exceptions I saw where POFQ was not picked up first. And being picked up second by the DTD/TL bus was consistent, not just a one-time thing. This was also the case on at least one previous visit, but it wasn't an issue for us since the DTD/TL bus was not crowded at all. A lot of folks use the boats if they're going to DTD, and that helps with keeping crowds at a minimum on those particular buses.

I love all the pictures of POFQ. I can't believe it's been 9 years since I stayed there last. I can't wait to stay there again before our cruise next March.

Out of curiousity, does anybody have a clipart logo for POFQ? I've seen the one for Riverside, but not for French Quarter. I like to put the logo of the resort we are staying at on our luggage tags.

Any direction you can point me in would be appreciated. Thanks!

Perhaps you can work with this::

Thanks for all the help! As long as I know I won't be waiting forever for a smushed bus I am sold! ;)

Great pics! :thumbsup2

Does POFQ have king beds? Does anyone know how many and where they are? Thinking about April 08 trip with DH and considering POFQ but we would definitely like to get a King bed.

Thanks!

I know they do have them available for an additional fee, and I know there are not many available. Not sure on the exact numbers though.

Out of POFQ's 1,000 rooms, only 62 have king-size beds. King-size bed is a category you must reserve and pay for. If you merely request it, odds are you won't get it, as most likely there will already have been plenty of people who already reserved and paid extra for that.

Like at all of WDW's Moderate resorts, the POFQ rooms with king-size beds are sprinkled throughout the resort, and are NOT associated with any building or area or view or anything like that.

You can always add to your ressie you'd like a corner king room. That way you'd have 2 windows. Course, that could always mean more noise. Though I don't recall ever hearing anyone at the resort.

Dh and I love POFQ!!!! We love the smallness of this resort and enjoy the boats to DTD. Our last trip in March '07 we requested a king room in bldg. 2 and had a beautiful view in a corner room over looking the fountain garden and the river. We also love to stop in the Scat Cat lounge and listen to Elliot Dyson, for a relaxing drink before turning in for the night. Elliot plays on Wed-Sat. nights.

We will be back at the FQ 10/10 thru 10/14. Can't wait!!!!! Hope everyone enjoys the FQ as much as we always have.

We will be checking out 10/10 -- maybe you'll get our room. We're supposed to have a king room and I'm hoping for a corner room. This is our first trip (we've "only" been married 30 years). I do hope we enjoy it as much as you have.

About the boat -- Do you have to wait long for the boat? We have ADRs at Cap'n Jacks at 6:00 p.m. What time should be be at the boat dock?
