I'm thinking of calling and changing my requests for my trip May 1 to May 4. It will be 3 adult women. Now I've got "non-smoking, building 5". I was thinking of changing it to "non smoking, close to food court, top floor".

Do you think that would be better? I don't really need to be in building 5 but would prefer not to be in the farther out buildings. Would "close to food court" let the room assignor pick any close room or maybe the room assignor thinks all buildings are close to the food court.

I'm sure any room would be fine but with just 3 short nights I know we'll be up early and out late and I don't want to have to drag my tired body too far....

I requested "close to food court" and got building 4 second floor. We had room 4280, I think. It took about 2 minutes to walk down to the food court.
We were happy.

My family leaves tommorrow afternoon for our first trip ever to WDW! I posted these questions on another thread but no one has responded and i dont have time to read through this whole thread to get the info. I have 2 DD's (8 princess: & 5 princess: ) and a Dh with a bad back! We are staying 6 nights and plan on taking breaks 2 afternoons and spending some evening as well at the resort. Looking for a Non-smoking building close to whirlpool(for DH's back!) and cafe (so we can refill our mugs). I know the resort is small but does anyone have any suggestions? :confused3

We originally booked ASMo but changed 6 weeks ago when we found out about the cheerleaders staying there :cheer2: . Our original room was prefered but Im not sure if it is at POFQ. Can I call in advance and request a certain building or do i just show up and ask? :confused3

Any help would be greatly appreciated  !

paula70, you should be able to call the resort and make your room requests before you get there. you can also ask when you arrive what is available. either way, requests are not guarunteed, but the CMs should do their best to accomodate you. i would definitely explain WHY you need your requests fulfilled, knowing it is a medical necessity for you to be in a close room should help your chances. good luck and have a great trip! :goodvibes:

Thanks!

Paula-I would call the resort ASAP as I think they assign the rooms a few days out. I'm sure they will do the best they can for you. Have a GREAT trip! How exciting! Just remember you can't "do it all" on 1 trip so don't drive yourself crazy trying to. I find taking it a bit slow really helps discover all the magic.

We were just there last week and stayed in building 5. It was right there by both the food court and across from the hot tub. It was also not too far to the bus stop or parking lots either.

Thanks everyone! I will call tommorrow and ask about a building request. I never thought to tell them about my DH's back problem, great advice! :thumbsup2 This is exactly why i love these boards! :disrocks:

We were in Building 4 also - and it was a non-smoking room.

I can still clearly picture the resort in my mind. I don't think it could have been more perfect. We were close to everything, but it was so peaceful and quiet.

Here is the link to the on-line version of the WDW Vacation Planning Video: click here. Once you’re on that webpage, click on the RESORTS button. The webpage will rearrange itself and some new buttons regarding the Resorts will appear. Put your mouse over the Disney Moderate Resorts Overview entry and select “Disney’s Port Orleans Resort.” A video window will open and the Port Orleans Resort video will begin to play.

It’s a nice way to experience a little bit of Disney magic without leaving the comfort of your home. ;)

We were in Building 3 this past Sept an it is wonderful as well. It is to the right of the main building. Non-smoking 2nd floor :sunny:

This has likely come up already on this thread...but I am wondering about WiFi or high speed access in the rooms at POFQ. Should I bring my laptop, can I get access and if so do I need to bring my own cord? How much does it cost?
Thanks!

Just back yesterday from POFQ and really enjoyed it! Every CM we came in contact with was very friendly. It was my parents 30th anniversary and when I checked in I was given an envelope. When I opened it, it was a certificate saying Happy anniversary and a Pluto autograph from Stockard, the gal who I made our reservation with over the phone. It was a nice surprise. Then later my parents got a knock at the door. They were delivering a big lamanated sign saying Happy Anniversary with Mickey and Minnie and WDW. It was a very nice gesture. My parents were very pleased that they had acknowledge their special celebration. We went on a cruise for their 25th and never even got a "happy anniversary" from anyone!

The resort is gorgeous. I loved all the landscaping. There were trees, bushes, flowers, vines everywhere. The pool was great. The kids loved it and I really enjoyed it. It was fun just hanging out there. Now I know what people mean about the lack of themeing at Contemporary.

The buses were great. Couldn't have asked for better. We only went over to Riverside once, other than that they went straight to the parks.

The only downside was the food court as others have mentioned. We were there for dinner quite a few times b/c the kiddies were usually wiped out by then and the menu NEVER changes. It got old really quick and we were only there for 5 nights! I missed the dining options at CR. Other than that it was wonderful!

BTW, building 2 is NON smoking. I was told and had read that it was smoking. The buildings are close together. Much closer then it looks on the resort maps. I would stay here again. The only 2 things for us that we missed from our last trip was the dining options and my DD loved having a sand/beach area to play in. The playground at POFQ was a big hit also with my dd2.5 and my 6 year old cousin. :Pinkbounc

thanks for your review cruiserkaren!!! :thumbsup2 great to hear you had such wonderful bus service - that is the one thing i was worried about at POFQ. glad you had a lovely time!!!

We loved POFQ when we went in May ! :thumbsup2 We would
definately choose this resort again. The kids LOVED the pool area!
And, I loved that it is one of the smallest resorts and everything is
so close. We were in bldg. 5, and minutes away from everything.
The pool, food court, and bus stops. And, the boat ride to DTD
was great, the kids loved it !!! It is a very pretty resort !!! :sunny:

Does anyone know if there is room enough under the beds at POFQ to store a couple of large duffel bags?

We decided to switch our resort from Pop to POFQ :) Last year we stayed at Pop and really enjoyed it but I kept looking at pictures of POFQ and we decided to change our stay. My daughter doesn't know yet, so it'll be a surprise when we pull up to POFQ instead of Pop :thumbsup2
