Hubby and I just returned from POFQ on Sunday. He mentioned that he'd like to stay there again. This was his first on-site stay and he really liked it. I've only ever stayed at Shades of Green before.

One of the things that we loved about the resort was that it was so close to everything, yet you felt like you were in your own world. It was peaceful and quiet. but just minutes from every park.

We were in building 4 and we were able to see the fireworks at Epcot from the balcony.

It was great and we're hoping that we can go back again in late 2007.

Bumping back up!!

Does anyone know if the Pop Warner group was here this past December?

I think it was the second week of December into the third week. They were there from a Thursday to a Tuesday. My niece was there this past December for the Cheerleading!

Do you know if they were at POFQ?

I've read the whole thread but didn't seem to find the answer to this question. Are there any king rooms that connect to double rooms?

Honeymooner-great photos. Did you have a connecting door in that room? I couldn't see one in the photo.

We will be at POFQ in 3 days. I am so excited to stay here. Thanks to everyone for all the wonderful information.

We were not able to get connecting king and double in the non-water view prices (about $59 less per night) but there may be some in the higher priced rooms.

This is a great thread. Both my DH and I loved PO when we stayed there. It was such a short walk to the bus stop and food court. I didn't know that they closed this resort and renovated it. Now we will defiantly stay there when we go in 2007 with the kids.

Have they improved the food court any?? We didn't mind it, but I know many are not thrilled. I know that they closed the restaurant. We never ate there either time we stayed at the resort. It didn't appeal to our tastes.

Solferino: There aren't any noodles or flotation devices at the POFQ (or any other resort) pool, so bring your own. By the way, we'll be there January 1 thru 8, so look for my two teens (boy and girl) to be at the pool, too!

I know its too late- you are already back from Disney- but there were noodles at the ASMovies when we went at the beginning of Dec 05.

Did POFQ have noodles when you went this time??

Just curious.....

I looked and I looked and I swear I saw it once and now I can’t find it again so I’m here asking for help…

We just came back from POP and wore trying to figure out the time frame to go back there and book 2 rooms instead of one. However DH dug in his heals and said that he wanted either a) more amenities from the resort or b) we have to wait at least 2 years to go back (**GASP**). He loves to fish, boat, bike, and just lounge around the pool and he said hot tub is a must in the next hotel. So after pouring over the books we had I came up with POFQ and here is where I’m confused. I thought that at one point I read somewhere that you could rent a fishing pole there for catch and release fishing but I cannot find it for the life of me again and DH wants to know what kind of pole! Like it really matters but he is insistent. Does anyone here know? I’m not talking about the boat trip you get from fishing trip from Downtown Disney either. Did anyone (I feel so embarrassed even asking this, but I promised DH I would so here it goes) bring their own fishing pole? Also can one purchase a package where you can use the boats for a week or few days rather then keep paying each time he wants to use one? Please help me; DH is the only one that is willing to wait for 2 years to go back. The rest of the gang on the other hand could be packed and ready in one hours notice.

Direct from the Disney web site:

The Riverside is a shortwalk from POFQ I'm talking 10 min, and thats how long it took me with a 5 and 3 yr old walking with me.

Roll up your pant legs and hunker down for a day of fishing - the old fashioned way. Find your ideal spot, cast out your line and enjoy some dockside Cane Pole Fishing.

Dockside Fishing is available, without advance reservations, at the following Resort locations:

Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort & Campgrounds
Disney's Port Orleans Resort - Riverside

Did we ever establish which buildings were now smoking? I may change my request over to building 5 from 2.

Just had to let you all know.....I'm going to AAA tomorrow morning and booking our trip for Sept. at POFQ!! :cool1: I just read this whole thread and I'm so excited about our trip!!!

Great selection! We just returned from POFQ this week and it was totally wonderful. My kids 6 and 8 loved it--especially the pool. The adults loved it--the grounds are beautiful and it's calm and relaxing after a long day of fun at the parks. The staff were all friendly and helpful. The transportation was quick and easy (except for one LONG trip to the Wilderness Lodge for dinner). If you take the boat to DTD Grant is totally hilarious.....

I stayed in building 4 in January with my 60 year old dad and 8 year old son. We loved this resort. All of us loved it. It was wonderful.
My son and I stayed at CBR last June. We had a great time, of course - it's Disney World after all. But, we spent our whole week in January talking about how great POFQ is. The room was great. We were close to the bus stop and close to the food court and gift shop. We were close to the pool and hot tub.
Every thing was just right there. :thumbsup2
I should stay away from these boards. Now I want to go back more than ever and I haven't even been home a month!

We will stay at POFQ in March with DD2. Is there any perfect building for us, with the following criteria:
1). Non-smoking
2). Quiet
3). Less walking from bus stop/food court

Is Building 4 a purely SMOKING building (no non-smoking rooms)?

Does the resort still receive room requests thru FAX? Since I booked via a tour-operator (airfare + resort package), and Disney CM cannot process my request directly :furious:

We stayed in building 4 in January and had a non-smoking room. I never smelled a trace of smoke.
It was close to everything and super quiet.
