Tell me your thoughts about "The Secret"

I may be off-line for the next few days. I'm staffing for Tony Robbin's seminar. It is extremely long hours, especially for the staffers, but packed with so many great things. I love helping people get their changes. :cool1:

At the staff meeting last night, we were all taught to break a wooden board with our bare hand!!! :cool1: I did it! Just like in Karate Kid. It was a metaphor about teaching us to break through our own limitations and limited beliefs in our lives! It was so great when we were all cheering and jumping on the other side, after everyone broke a wooden board. :dance3: This is what empowerment feels like. This is what success and personal accomplishment feels like. This is what it is to be in a community of people who wants everyone else to be unlimited and have wins & successes, too. :goodvibes :dance3: :woohoo: :cool1: :yay: :cheer2:

Keep up the positive energy, everyone! :goodvibes

Wonderful!! How exciting that must have been! Way to Go!! :woohoo:

We will miss not seeing you, but I'm sure you will be ready to share some wonderful tidbits with us!!

Enjoy!!!

I have not yet done my vision board. I haven't gathered all my pictures yet and I just don't feel I am ready for that. I am a note-taker. I have notebooks at work, on my bookshelf, and by my bedside filled with insights, quotes, goals, and inspirational sayings. When I read inspirational and self-help books, I take notes and write down the exercises. Now I have joined a church of New Thought in which I am also writing down notes. The problem is all this stuff is scattered and not tied together coherently. How do I know if anything is working?? :confused3 Well I have solved that.

Last Saturday, we were meeting some friends for lunch in a part of town that I don't normally go. My family was early so we stopped at a small shopping center to kill time until our lunch date. Inside the mall was a Franklin Covey store. I bought a neat organizer geared towards the household (bills, warranties, appliances, insurance, etc.) I also picked up some Kids Planners for my girls (never too early to teach organizational skills and goal setting.) :rotfl: Since I use my online calendar and taskpad for work, I didn't pick myself up anything.

Well, a couple of days passed and I was again writing notes in another notebook thinking that it would be nice I had all these things organized together in one neat place. Then I remembered the Franklin Covey store. Since it is only a 10 minute drive via highway, I went during lunch yesterday to get an organizer. I call it my "Spirit Guide" and I have already seen it at work.

I won't bore you with all the details. If you want more details, I can break it down for you in another post. For this post, I'll keep it brief. My monthly planner is used to note church services, spiritual classes, and events. On my Daily Planner, I note any themes occuring throughout the day. I also keep a spiritual to do list (redo my Mission Statement, search for certain pictures for my Vision Board, etc.) There are also 5 project planning sections. I'm using 2 so far, but I have plans for the others. One section shows the "create my day" mantra that I now recite every morning. It also lists the Wayne Dayer "It's coming" affirmation that I now recite every night. Section 2 lists my intentions. Section 3 will be for my intentions which are starting to manifest.

It's true!! I create my own reality!!! :3dglasses

I'd love more details if you would love to post. This sounds like an awesome planner! You've got great things "planned " for it!

Olympic Moments of Greatness

As we begin the opening ceremonies tonight of the Olympic games, take a moment to watch these two past moments:

Remember, we can recognise and celebrate the Olympic greatness in others only because it is also in ourselves.

What unique greatness were you born for that only you can do? :cool1:

Wow, watching the torch being passed is a great thing...I loved it!

I love reading the new replies here early in the morning before the day begins. It can change my whole attitude about the day. I wish the contributors to this thread could put all this information into one book!! :)

Thank you!

So, I am looking into getting some more books. I have read "The Secret," "A New Earth," and "The Power of Now."

I know a lot of people have mentioned Dyer, Chopra, and some others.

What books do you think are MUST-reads? :)

Wayne Dyer has _The Power of Intention_. I also read and enjoyed his _Change Your Thoughts, Change Your Life. Living the wisdom of the Tao_

I go to Deepak Chopra's http://www.chopra.com/dailydevotion every day.
Wayne Dyer also has http://www.drwaynedyer.com/inspiration/ which I also read every morning.

I've read a couple of Deepak's books, but didn't think I was quite ready to understand all he was trying to say. I think I'm going to look of some of his stuff again.

Come January, I will read Sarah Ban Breathnach's _Simple Abudance_ which is a book of daily affirmations. It is best to start on January 1st as the book does refer to seasons. It also slowly builds on what you previously read.

I will definitely get a post together tonight. I'll take some pics and post them to illustrate what I have done.

One of my big intentions is, of course, finances. I do have some credit card debt that is getting a little out of hand, but I have not found any better options for transferring balances and getting a low APR. Well, a credit card company that I used to deal with, but stopped using (not for any bad reasons. I just got a better deal elsewhere.) sent me a killer deal. If I came back, I would get free balance transfers, no annual fees, and 0% financing until November 2009. I kept saying to myself that if I could just find a good deal, I could really make an impact on my credit card balance in less than 2 years. Then this deal shows up.

Another way that I can tell that the Universe is listening about my financial concerns is that on the same day I got the credit card deal, our finance planner for our IRAs called. He wanted permission to make a change in how we can diversify our current holdings so we are less affected by the current and likely to get worse economic situation. Normally, I would make an appointment with him and have him go through everything step by step even though I have little idea of how it all works. But something came over me. I had just got the offer from the credit card and was thinking "it's falling into place." So I simply said "Do it. We'll get together after Labor Day to discuss the details, but for now go ahead." When I hung up the phone, I was beaming.

Before, I might have disregarded both of those things. I might have rejected both offers or dragged my feet instead of saying "Yes!" to both, but because I had my "Spirit Guide," I knew what was fresh on my mind. I know what I sent out to the Universe, so I know what to expect back. I'm being careful to note these items in my daily page and well as in my manefestation pages.

Like I said, I post some details and pics tonight. And I'll keep you posted as to what else happens!! :yay:

I feel inspired to try something at work. Our work area is going through some major upheavals and people are real down lately (including me). We tend to complain and be really sad about things. I'm going to try to throw some humor into the situation and see where that takes us. Maybe it'll maybe someone feel a little better?

I think that humor is a great tool in most situations. I haven't seen The Secret really address that but I'm sure that I will.

Jody, that planner does sound great. It always feels so good to be organized doesn't it?

I'm feeling really good today. I just did my gratitude Journal...I love filling that out:love:

I was asked by a friend to do a Pampered Chef party (she's a new consultant) and it wasn't going well, I wasn't getting any orders and she was feeling down. I told her I truly believe she'll be successful and then everybody was ordering! She's so excited:):yay:

As I posted earlier, I bought a Franklin Covey for the purpose of using it exclusively to "create my reality." I now have a way of organizing notes from inspiring books/movies/services, capturing themes, listing my intentions, recording my manifestations, and creating my day.

I bought the compact size book with the daily planner pages and basic tabs:
SG001.jpg

I haven't filled out Values/Mission section yet as I am going to work on my Mission Statement exercises this weekend. Under section 1 I have my create my day statement, my It's on its way affirmation, and my key:
SG002.jpg

The "create my day" statement is from "What the Bleep Do We Know?" I repeat this every morning.
I'm taking this time to create my day and I'm infecting the Quantum field <insert your intentions>. Show me a sign today that you paid attention to any one of these things that I created, and bring them in a way I won't expect. Make it so I have not doubt it has come from You (meaning Source, Universe, Consciousness, God, whatever)

Every evening after writing in my Gratitude Journal (this is separate from my Spirit Guide), I repeat this affirmation from Wayne Dyer:
"It's on its way. It will arrive on time, and it will arrive in greater amounts than I imagined."

My key for my Spirit Guide is
T - Themes
N - Notes (from websites, books, movies, services, etc. that stood out to me.)
C - Coincidences
M - Manifestations

(to be continued)

Section 2 lists my current intentions. As they come to pass I will check them off. I will add more as needed.
SG003.jpg

Section 3 is to record how my intentions are manifesting.
Section 4 will be to post pictures and notes for a mini vision board.
Section 5 isn't marked for anything yet...

For my Month at a Glance, I write down spiritual classes, services, and events. I also note when I start reading a book or study guide, or watch a meaningful movie.
SG004.jpg

My Master Task List is a Spiritual Task List. I have listed certain things I want to do for the month.
The Monthly Index is to note if anything important happened on a certain day. For details, I turn to that specified date.
SG005.jpg

The daily pages have two pages for each date. One is a daily task list and appt schedule:
SG006.jpg

The other page I use to record themes, coincidences, notes, etc.:

I just love it!! I see so much now!

I totally can't believe this thread exists here on the DIS. Of course, it's no coincidence, however.......;)

I just returned from visiting one of my best friends who believes much of what has been discussed on this thread. It is something I, too, have been exploring so I was ecstatic to come across this thread with so many articulate, knowledgeable people on it. You have all contributed exponentially to my journey. Thank you so much!

Here is one of my little stories I'd like to share: DH turned 50 this year and my youngest is beginning college in a few short weeks. I also have a DD who is entering her jr. year in college. I really wanted to take DH away (just the 2 of us for the first time since our kids were born) but didn't even want to broach the subject with him as I knew with the way our finances were, it would be totally out of the question. Well, we are DVC owners and were planning to give DS some points to use with his buddies this year to celebrate his graduation. He decided and was adamant that he didn't want them which meant I had points that I had to use or lose by the end of August. One day shortly thereafter I opened and e-mail from JetBlue through which we have a credit card saying that we had accumulated enough credits for a free round trip flight to anywhere they fly. So....I called DVC office for days and finally found the perfect resort in Aruba, to which JetBlue flew available for only one week---a week that fit perfectly into our schedule. So DH and I went alone for an entire week to Aruba and had the time of our lives for a fraction of what it should/would have cost. We never would have dreamed it possible to do this considering the year we have ahead of us with college tuition, etc.

Thanks again to everyone who has shared and participated in this thread. Let's keep it going!:thumbsup2

Well, on my "I'm so thankful I found this book list" is Marci Shimoff's "Happy For No Reason". It is amazing for helping banish negative thoughts and thought patterns. Lots of exercises and lessons, plus stories from 100 people who are perpetually happy. Learning contentment and joy is on the inside and not a product of your circumstance frees you to become all you were meant to be. :thumbsup2

Thanks for the book reccommendations. I'm keeping notes!!

My DH did the sweetest thing yesterday while I was at work (he has Fridays off- lucky guy!).

Anyway, he told me he was going to run to Border's to get a new magazine. But, he also bought me "Walt Disney World with Kids- 2009" !!! :yay:

He knows I really want to go, and it was the sweetest gesture.

(just had to brag a little- feeling positive!!!)

Jody- That is SO cool! I love how you are treating this like a plan and that you HAVE a plan!!! I've gotta head to work, but I am going to check that out later- it's such a great idea!!! :yay:
