No, the IL's didn't call yet.

We just got back from swimming lessons. Gus said the funniest thing! I asked how he thinks it's going and he replied, " It's going great. Except that my butt keeps sinking. You'd think it would float it's so round?!"
Ha! :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Out of the mouths of babes, eh:rotfl2: :rotfl2:

There's all sorts of drama at dh's company and I'm pretty stressed but haven't shared because it's SO long and protracted it would take 2 pages! Anyway, he's not going to be around much for the forseeable future. He just dropped the "I'm going to China for a month in Sept." bomb on me last week.

ACK:scared1:

Thanks all - it's always good to make sure I'm not going overboard in my parenting, y'know? No, I haven't talked to anyone yet. There's no one with whom to talk at drop-off and pick-up - just the teenage counselors signing kids in and out and they're beyond clueless. That's a whole other issue I'm having - the counselors are far more interested in socializing with each other than interacting with the campers. Leo struggled to get into my car by himself the other day because the kid in charge was busy flirting with a girl. I don't know if he'll go back to this camp next year.

IS there someone you can call>:confused3

Tomorrow is Jury Duty day. I suppose I can't get out of it again. I fear I go9t the summons because of my pending disability case that I have yet to hear about. Oh well. My biggest drama? Having to BE THERE at 8:30am I am not a morning person and I am NOT anywhere at 8:30am but in bed. I don't even go to sleep until 3am usually. It's bound to be a lousy day.

DIsney is the only place we should have to get up early;)

Just take a book with you. If jury duty is anything like it is here you will be doing ALOT of waiting around. Here are my 2 little tips for getting out of jury duty. Use them if you wish, but you didn't get them from me.;)

1 - Criminal Case. You ALWAYS believe what the cops say and nothing will make you change your mind. Don't know if NY has capital punishment or not, but your beliefs in this will also come in handy. Either way, tell them NOTHING will make you change your mind in the other direction. If you believe in it the defense attorney won't want you and if you don't the DA won't want you.

2 - Civil Case (especially if it is an auto accident type case). Unless injuries can be substantiated they don't exist. I.E Seen on an X-Ray, MRI, Cat Scan, etc.

KC saw my menu list on the fridge and said "oh just like school" snidely. Butthead. :lmao: He also doesn't seem to understand all the things that need to be done before the vacation, esp since I;m leaving him home for 3 days without me. I'm scared of that!

He'll be grateful when he isn't starving for three days ::yes::

T - are you okay????
I just got a Breaking News Alert from CNN - 5.8 earthquake just hit LA. :worried:

I'm starting to think we really ARE cursed at this point!

5.8 doesn't sound catastrophic according to CNN, but the whole earth shaking/splitting/moving thing freaks the heck out of me. :scared: I can't call from work, but I sent her a text....

Ok we have to stop thinking alike...its :scared:

Wait - did you also Google "5.8 earthquake"? How about Mapquesting "Chino Hills"?!

Here, have some preventative rosemary. ;)

From what I hear from other Californians I know that live near/around LA like T does there are no reports of major damage at this time and quite a bit of phone lines are down... so we may have to wait a bit to hear from her

Earthquake rocks Los Angeles
Story Highlights
5.8 magnitude quake at 11:42 PT hit east of Los Angeles, California

Quake's epicenter was about 2 miles from Chino Hills

U.S. Geological Survey: Center of the earthquake was about 7.6 miles deep

LOS ANGELES, California (CNN) -- A magnitude-5.8 earthquake has struck just east of Los Angeles, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The quake's epicenter was about 2 miles southwest of Chino Hills and about 5 miles southeast of Diamond Bar, the USGS said. Chino Hills is about 30 miles east of downtown Los Angeles.

The center was about 7.6 miles deep. In general, earthquakes centered closer to the Earth's surface produce stronger shaking and can cause more damage than those further underground.

A 5.8 magnitude quake is considered by the USGS to be "moderate," which can cause slight damage to buildings and others structures. About 500 can happen globally each year, the survey says.

CNN's Ed Lavandera was at Disneyland in Anaheim, southeast of Los Angeles, with his family and felt the temblor. He said the shaking lasted about 5 seconds.

CNN affiliate KABC is reporting that Disneyland's rides have been evacuated.

There were no immediate reports of injury or damage in Los Angeles, Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman Brian Humphrey told The Associated Press. San Bernardino County fire dispatch did not have reports of damage, AP said.

:guilty: Oh no! I hope she checks in soon.

I've been reading, but don't have much to say. I'm stressing over the car thing. :headache: I WANT a Saturn Outlook. I want 8 seats, leather (which I'm not finding) and a good price with low miles 2007 or newer. I'm worried about the frame damage thing, though. There are other cars I can find, but that's the one I WANT. I'm worried if I go with a more "reasonable" car, I'll be disappointed for years with my choice, YKWIM?

I just don't know what I want to do and it's making me cranky. I'm cleaning off my desk in the school room so we can start doing some school Monday. The kids are at each other's throats and I always intended to do year round this year until the surgery came up. I'm ready to get busy again! :teacher:

I'll keep checking in on T. :guilty:

Thanks Tanya, that's reassuring! And I know T actually likes earthquakes  so hopefully she just enjoying herself.

Check out this report form a Disneyland guest:
Lavandera was standing in line for a ride when he saw the ride's top "shaking back and forth."

You could hear the metal kind of clanging around, and the ride was just ending, so for a moment ... I thought maybe something was wrong with the ride. Then I realized the ride had already stopped moving and the ground was still moving," he said.

:scared:

:confused3 V, any idea how far.
Umm, about 2 inches on the map?! :rotfl: I had to look it up: about 20ish miles.

ETA: Just heard from T - all is well there!

Mel- That is a bomb to be dropped on you! Has your Dh ever had to travel for such a long time before?

YES. Twice. He went to Austria for 3 1/2 weeks and then the week we moved into our current house, he went to Japan for a month. Then he quit and flew home.
:scared:

Where is T? Doesn't she know that when things like this happen, we worry!!????
:sad2:
MEL

OK, thanks V!!!! I feel way better now.

Hey all. Rough day around here...but my vote is for a brand new, curse-free, Focker thread that is oozing Rosemary, good vibes, prayers and whatever else you fancy. T, I am glad all is well.

I agree! Let's ditch this thread and start a new one! :thumbsup2

LOL, should we even bother to wait for it to hit 250 (which, I'm guessing, will happen sometime TONIGHT at the rate we're going!), or just start anew right now?!
