Castle repainting

The castle, albeit an impressive looking building, is made of plastic. It has no appeal except visual.
Hmm last time I checked it has a concrete base, with a Steel Superstructure, and then mostly Fiberglass prefab modules bolted together. There is not much exterior Plastic (Florida Heat/Sun is very harsh on plastic.

My point was... it isn't a real castle! If one were to go to an actual castle not a single speck of Fiberglass or Plastic (same thing) being that it isn't made of actual materials that is used as live in buildings for king, queens, prince or princess. It contains a restaurant, a nice mosaic mural and a special room that at this point is either covered in cobwebs or used for the occasional CM tryst. It doesn't matter if it is made with a concrete base, steal skeleton and "fiberglass" exterior. Those were just materials used to create a make believe castle. Majestic looking indeed, but still a visual fantasy.

OP, There are always things being worked on at WDW, but I understand your feelings about the castle, because the castle is definitely a big deal.

The problem is perhaps that if you avoid going because of the castle, then after the castle's finished, you might avoid going because the Cars area hasn't opened yet and/or the Villains area hasn't opened or the Tropical Americas area at DAK isn't quite done, etc., etc., etc.

What I'm saying is there's always something under construction at WDW. It's impossible to avoid.

Let me say that my first sight of the castle can move me to happy tears. Every. Single. Trip. Cranes and scaffolding really won’t be that noticeable when you come through the gates and stop in your tracks at the far end of Main St. You will still find ways to capture lovely photos, too. As others have pointed out, you could even end up with some shots that will prove to be have far more interesting angles and sights!

You have had lots of experience with very serious reasons to delay your visit, so don’t let anything stand in your way when your family is able to travel. WDW parks are always a work in progress and I don’t think there is any day in any given year when something is not behind a wall, being built or refurbished in some way. Disney is very skilled at distracting guests from all the work that goes on and does their very best to present a wonderful experience. It’s just like the never-ending roadway in Florida!

You will also get some great shots at Epcot in front of Spaceship Earth, at Animal Kingdom in front of the Tree of Life and on Hollywood Blvd with the Theatre in the background. All signature photos. Plus your castle photos will be historic: “We were there when the castle was being restored (sorry “repainted”) to its proper look!” And lastly, I’m sorry for what your family has gone through but you know better than most to not take anything for granted. You have an opportunity to go now - so go!

Thank you all...after reading these responses, a bit late because we were in Disneyland, I agree. I will not let the castle potentially being repainted to deter us. Thank you friends

I understand this completely. It feels silly to say out loud but it's a legitimate feeling - when we were at Disneyland Paris, the castle was completely covered up for refurb and it really crushed me (even knowing ahead of time, unfortunately our dates were set and couldn't be modified.) That said...I would keep the dates which it sounds like you're doing! It'll just be a reason to come back again. :)
