Team Focker Watch Chat - Good Grief We Talk A Lot! Part 5

Not open for further replies.

So is it crazy that I planned out our meals up until the trip? I have it color coded on the fridge, with a list of what we may need for the wek from the store. I think I have boredom issues.

I think that's awesome! I would save time and money if I could make myself do something like that.

He played "Pork and Beans" by Weezer. :goodvibes

They're my favorite band, so I'm pretty excited for him!
(If you don't know the song, just go to Youtube and search it...)

Sweet! If you want to destroy my sweater! Hold this thread as I walk away!

And...the saga continues.

Guess who visited the ER tonight. :headache: Yup...Jon.

OMG! That's terrible! I've always thought that everyone should have an epi pen in their glove compartment. Who's to say that my kid won't get stung by a bee and have a reaction that they've never had before when we are out in the country and far away from a hospital.

As we were on the way, his lips began to swell and he got giant bruisy blotches on his arms and neck and stomach.

:grouphug: for Jon.

I paid off my car today!!!:woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: Now the only thing we owe on is the house. I intend to keep it that way!!! My dad would have appreciated me using some of the money he left me for something like this.

Hooray!!! That's so awesome that you only owe on your house now!

Oh and my last week at Botoxville is next week. OMG! Forgot to tell you guys, the chick whose hubby likes her "au natural"? She's allergic to the Botox and now her eyebrow is hanging down to her lip!! :scared1: :scared1: Sorry, but I had to giggle ALOT when I saw her! :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

:lmao: I would have loved to seen her husband's face when he saw that!
======================================
Guess I should go to bed... We did lots of laundry and straightening up today. Tomorrow (today) I'm taking the kids to swim in our neighbor's pool. They worked a lot harder with that promise. Our neighbor is constantly telling us to use her pool whenever we want but I hate to take advantage. Plus, her grandkids just show up out of the blue to swim all the time. She insists that we don't leave if someone shows up since they never even tell her when they're coming.

And...the saga continues.

Guess who visited the ER tonight. :headache: Yup...Jon.

I may or may not own a dairy queen after this.

UGH. SO sorry the stupid people at dairy queen ruined your night! You should own one darn it!

OOOOO, crockpot cookin' - My favorite kind.
DH made the ham and asparagus lasagna today!!! It was delish! Thanks again for pointing us to that recipe!!!:flower3:

I paid off my car today!!!:woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: Now the only thing we owe on is the house. I intend to keep it that way!!! My dad would have appreciated me using some of the money he left me for something like this.

Awesome! So glad you liked it! I'm not getting terribly creative with the upcomign meals just making stuff that will stretch a few days so I can cook less days and get more done.

WOO HOO :banana: for the car pay off!!!!

WE don't have DAiry Queen here in the city, If I want to go to one I have to go out to the burbs and its not worth a 20 mile drive...long story short I have never had Dairy Queen:confused3

I have never had it either.I ahve seen commercials for it, why I dunno when there isn't any i know of near here t all. :confused3

TTYL!! LY, MI! :flower3:

:lmao: :lmao: At least you have a carp load of awesme storiesfom working there for that short time.

Hi Girls!!
Quick drive-by! I'll try to catch up later.

Have a great day!

Hi T!!:hug:

Phew! Now I know someone who can FINALLY tell me who shot JR!

:lmao: I was thinking the SAME THING!!

thanks girls!! i guess i'll tell her to keep callin. and i'll def let you know how cirque de soleil is. i'm excited. it's something my mom's always wanted to do.

Rachel - LaNouba is AWESOME!! You guys will LOVE IT!! Wish I'd gotten to you before you bought the tickets though - I did the same thing the first time we went...front & center seats. Didn't even need them...there's so much going on that seats in the back/upper sections would have been great. That's what I bought for November - way up so we could see everything, but don't get me wrong - it's amazing sitting up front. I LOVE that show - can't wait to hear what you think of it!!

HI ladies...thought we could all use a good laugh. Jim said this reminds him of all of us (even though he hasn't met any of you)

Hagar.jpg

:thumbsup2 That's awesome - and so very true!!

I did. We just got back from Red Lobster...where we stuffed ourselves too full and Jen may or may not have had a mid-day pina colada. Hey...it's 5:00 somewhere...right??? :rolleyes1

It's always 5:00 in MY head! And yummm...LOVE RL's lobster pizza:thumbsup2

I'm back online!!! whilst I was typing a most excellent response about broken bones.........Bear was chewing the keyboard wire.....:mad: Had to go get another keyboard.
Did anyone miss me??

Oh no Bear!!:headache: My dog LOVED bitter apple when he was a puppy...this little tidbit of information I found out AFTER I'd sprayed everything in my apartment with it.:sad2: And he was WILD...and very bouncy - much like Tigger. He somehow got to the 4th shelf of a bookcase and ate my wedding pictures one day while I was at work. And he was a little guy - part Chihuahua and part Cockapoo. And part psychic...my marriage was pretty much over when he ate the pictures anyway, so he did me a favor! :rolleyes1

So.......CE--:hug: sorry about your grandparent drama. Sounds like he needs to be in assisted living at least--that is a lot of responsibility to your mom. And they need a life alert alarm too.

Sorry to hear this CE...:hug: I agree with TE...a life alert would be great for them.

I sat with C. Everett Koop at a meeting a couple of years ago and remember eyeballing him all over looking for that thing - he says in the commercial that he wears one too...I couldn't see it though...:rolleyes:

LL--I was writing to YOU when Bear ate the computer! To make it short---BA broke her arm (but not as bad as Michaels) but now you can't even tell it on an Xray. Kiddos heal really fast! :thumbsup2

Well, I am now officially running VERY late, BUT a quick Michael update...we got a full arm cast yesterday. It was a very painful day...Michael apparently BENT :eek: one of the bones he broke and the ortho surgeon BENT IT BACK!! It was on a 17 degree angle, which he said he could have left, but bent it back to where it only had an 8 degree angle. (The doc was VERY hot, by the way, but unfortunately he KNOWS he is and didn't have great bedside manners).

Michael's got to go back every week for x-rays for the next 4 weeks...GULP and may possibly get a couple of different casts throughout this time...he was tough though...they didn't give him anything for pain yesterday - and he was already in pain when we got there - but he didn't cry or anything. What a good boy.

And he was feeling very intellectual yesterday and lectured everyone who would listen from every topic from they need to get Ladybugs for their gardens to eat Aephids (:confused3 ), etc...to all about just about every animal known to man. I needed a nap after all that droning on....:rolleyes:

V-- do you need a horse??? Got 2....and I'll throw in a goat....the one that keeps jumping the electric fence! :lmao:

Oooh...such a DEAL...a free goat!! V you gotta jump on that...it'd make a good infomercial, don'tcha think? :happytv: ...But wait...if you call within the next 4 minutes, we'll double your order and send you TWO horses. AND if you use a Visa card, we'll also send you a free goat. Yours to keep, even if you return the horses
[/quote]

And...the saga continues.

Guess who visited the ER tonight. :headache: Yup...Jon.

We went to Dairy Queen for some blizzards, and Jon got a mint cookie one. Apparently, some peanut butter cups snuck into his mint blizzard. Even though I specifically told them that he was allergic...as I always do.

Well, guess who couldn't breathe?

Jon.

He got a shot and he's fine.

:mad: :mad: :mad:

I have already called DQ and there is no manager there. They will be getting a visit from me in the morning.

I may or may not own a dairy queen after this.

OH NO!! :hug: Hugs from us out East!!!

Ok, now I'm SERIOUSLY LATE!! Have a great day Fockers!!:goodvibes

I would have asked!

Poor little guy. Ab would have been screaming in pain--I had to take her to urgent care...twice.... when she just sprained her arm. She has zero pain tolerance.
Keep us updated on his progress. Did they say anything about growth plates? i just remember them saying "it's a good thing she didn't hit the growth plates" :confused:

:hug: I'm happy for him and sad for you.

Yeah. I asked my mom tonight if SHE thinks it's time. And she does. But the grandparents didn't buy any long-term care insurance. The local nursing home - in their tiny town of 1000 people, where they know people and where it's pretty cheap - is $120/person/day. So the two of them together would be pretty astronomical, as 10 days costs more than they get from Soc. Sec. They have farmland, so they don't get the extra assistance, as the government sees it as salable assets. Never mind the fact that it's been in the family for more than 100 years... At any rate, I REALLY don't know what they'll do. Even if they sell their house, it wouldn't be a lot - real estate in tiny towns in central IL don't go for much. :headache:

Yikes. My mom will continue to care for them, but she's becoming bitter and very tired. I don't think she should be doing it. She feels guilty.

Thanks, TE. I'll bring up the life alert thing. I have to admit, my first thought upon hearing the story was, "I've fallen and I can't get up!" :rolleyes:

we are kinda going through this with my Nana who is almost 90. She keeps falling (and can't get up) and now she is in and out of hospital with CHF. Her daughter lives with her but works during day, and she is on the family farm.

Before granddad died, they signed the farm over to my dad and the house over to Linda (with some kinda legal languange about nana living there till she died). I think it avoids taxes later on too.

Anyway, she FINALLY has got a life alert and she has a sitter during the day and home care nurses once a day. I'm thinking about meals on wheels too as she doesn't eat like she should. Going to bring her samples of Glucerna that I got from the sales rep and ask her to "try them out" for me. :rolleyes: She's pretty stubborn about what she wants and doesn't want. Still gets in the car and goes shopping if someone doesn't take her right away!

Poor, poor Jon!
Jen, I would keep on in the glove compartment at all times. You can give it to him for an Asthma attach too. I have severe asthma and as a child (before I learned to control it better) we need one on many, many occasions.

I would be DEMANDING a full refund for your DQ, reimbursement for your medical bills AND reimbursement for you gas. THis is a serious issue and they need to take it seriously!

I am glad Jon popped back after his trauma today.

CE- I know many people who have put the land/assets in their children's names well before they would need to be in assisted living. Has your mom looked into that? Also, maybe their church or a local community organization would have some volunteers that can help with errands ect. You can also sign them up for meals on wheels. I grew up with my grandfather living with us and it was trying on my"mom" but we learned how to seek out assistance. :hug:

good advice! :thumbsup2

Yes, we did miss you, oh glorious keeper of the focker flame!!
Sorry to hear about the keyboard. You definitely need to spice things up for that puppy.

glad your DH is doing a little better.

And yes, need to alter things for Bear.

He went to puppy school last nite---had a GREAT time! My SIL brought her pup, Piper, and the two played and played! He sat and went down very well........and the trainer told me to try vinegar in a spray bottle to deter chewing and nipping. :confused3

Yea...we have an epipen too. But, I didn't realize what was going on. :sad2: Bad momma!
Jen, my ds15 had his first food allergy reaction in 2nd grade at school. They insisted it was asthma. I had no idea, so i went with it. He was actually having a reaction and his throat was closing! Thank goodness I went with my instincts and brought him to the Dr. You did the right thing, Jon's fine. No harm, no foul. :lovestruc We're only human....

OK I am officially old becasue I have NO IDEA who this is:sad2:
Janet! Shame on you! Here's a link....

Swim lessons again today. IL's better call today. I appreciate all the suggestions to lock the door and leave, but I have to leave my KIDS too! I really don't want the sitter to have to watch them too!

As CE said, it's harder watching them than my KIDS!!!! :rotfl2:

Hope you guys all have a great day today!

MEL:banana:

Wow, I've read everything but can't begin to quote, so what I can remember...........

:wave2: Hi Jo!

Em and her boys are here now so, OMG this sounds mean especially as they're moving away, our vacation now revolves around them, luckily they are cute though!

Not mean :hug: How much longer are you there for?

I'm going out for a meal with my Mum tonight which hopefully will be nice and I won't get too much grief that we're not seeing more of her!!!

Of course you will get grief...it's what parents do best ::yes::

LL- I am glad the arm is on it's way to recovery. Did they give him anything whilst they bent his arm?

Jo- How old are Em's kids? Are they excited to be moving? Are they school age? If so will her work give her $$ towards schooling? I have heard the schools in NYC are very competitive with wait lists and such.

Good morning. :goodvibes
I'm quite sure I've forgotten half of the things I was going to reply to by now... :sad2: I'll try, though.

Jo- Hi!!! Have fun at dinner. :cutie:

Mel- I listened to the song. It's okay. I liked the beat, but the words weren't my thing. i like to sing along to songs and that's not going to happen with Pork 'n Beans! :lmao:

LL- I'm glad Micheal's got his cast on now. I can't believe he didn't cry! :eek: What a big boy!

Uh.... yeah. I think I'm done remembering. So sad. :sad2:

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Yesterday the girls dance teacher called and told me that she's being featured in a magazine that highlights women business owners in our town. She wants C's class to come today and be in the photoshoot with her. How fun! I can't wait to get my hands on a copy of the magazine with my baby in it! :banana:
That's pretty much all we have today, so I'm sure I'll be around.
Good Morning Jo and all my Focker Friends!!
Internet down at home as we are switching suppliers so wont be around much till it's all straightened out !!
Jo how am I enjoying Lowestoft??
That's right, we're going to Disneyland!:banana: :banana: :banana:
Yay!
I'm leaving for Atlanta tomorrow for a work conference--prayers for me. Gonna drive by myself--about 6 hours if you pretend Atlanta has no traffic!
Drive safely! Uh yeah - I'm 6 hours from ATL, but with the loop factored in, it's always 8-9. :headache:
So is it crazy that I planned out our meals up until the trip? I have it color coded on the fridge, with a list of what we may need for the wek from the store. I think I have boredom issues.
Fuzzy Pre-Disney Dining?! ;)
In laws still haven't called to tell me what's going on.
:hug:
I can't wait for FF. I need another vacation already!
You are not alone on that one Mel!
I've never been much of a Saturn fan because when I was a claims adjuster, every Saturn I saw - even ones in minor accidents - would have frame damage.
:rotfl2: I had too laugh - my 3 month old Saturn Coupe was nearly totaled when one of my elderly bank customers mistook the gas pedal for the brake and wiped out an entire row of our parking lot. :eek: My poor car sat on a stretching rack for 3 months to put the frame back in shape.
V-- do you need a horse??? Got 2....and I'll throw in a goat....the one that keeps jumping the electric fence! :lmao:
:lmao: Funny you should mention - I need to talk horse stuff with you! I'll PM....
Guess who visited the ER tonight. :headache: Yup...Jon.
OMG, what is happening to us this week?!?!? I'm glad he was okay in the end. how scary! :hug:
I paid off my car today!!!
That gets a major WOOO HOOOOTY!!!!!! :cheer2:
Oh and my last week at Botoxville is next week. OMG! Forgot to tell you guys, the chick whose hubby likes her "au natural"? She's allergic to the Botox and now her eyebrow is hanging down to her lip!!
BWAHAHAHAHA!!!! :rotfl2:
I'll miss these updates T. ;)
And he was feeling very intellectual yesterday and lectured everyone who would listen from every topic from they need to get Ladybugs for their gardens to eat Aephids (:confused3 ), etc...to all about just about every animal known to man. I needed a nap after all that droning on....:rolleyes:
Aw, I can totally hear him! :goodvibes
CE? :hug:
Are there really people who don't know who shot JR?!?!?! :faint:
It was Sue Ellen's sister, Kristen, played by Mary Crosby! :thumbsup2
Morning all! This week, on Tales From Horse Camp...
Leo fell off his horse yesterday. :headache: And I need to know if I'm being over-protective:
I only learned of this fall from Leo. The school/camp told me nothing. He's fine, but he hit his head and he explained that the helmet hit the ground and the back of his head hit the helmet - there's a lump. Now, I've worn riding helmets and the way they fit, his head shouldn't be knocking against the hard part at all; that's the whole point of the helmet's design. I think. So I'm irked that A. it doesn't sound like he's wearing a properly-fitted helmet, and B. they didn't think it worth telling the parent that he hit his head. Be honest - am I asking too much?
The good news is - he got back on the horse and rode some more! Which, for Leo, is a major big deal. This is the kid who quit T-ball after not being so great at it after 2 sessions. Ditto for soccer. That he fell and still wants to ride speaks volumes. Which scares me - am I looking at needing a second mortgage to finance this activity?!?! :scared:
Good morning!
No phone calls in the middle of the night, so the day already looks promising! :rotfl2:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

V, I think you are right on! Any injury should be reported. :headache:

Jo, have fun with Em & the boys, but I know what you mean. Little kids tend to set the schedule... ;) With my kids being the youngest on D's side, I used to try to encourage people to do what they wanted and we'd join when we could, but people are reluctant to split up sometimes.

Also, good luck with Mum. :hug:

LL, glad Michael made it through. What a brave kid! :goodvibes

Hi, Kat!

Hi, Lessa!

Mel, have they called yet? :rolleyes1

T, I hope you're not too stressed out. :hug:

Hi, Rosie!

TE, sorry about your Nana. :hug: It does sound very similar.

I've forgotten who's going swimming, but have fun! :goodvibes

~~~~~~~~~~~~
We're off to shop for the clothes for the boys to wear to the wedding. My mom is also looking for something. She tried on the dress that I was going to wear and it looked good on her, so if she can't find something, but I can, I'll buy new and she can use mine. :thumbsup2
Anyway, I'm all showered ;) and ready to go.
Pixie dust wishes for everyone to have a GOOD day. Not even aiming for great - I'll take GOOD. :wizard:
Poor, poor Jon!
I am glad Jon popped back after his trauma today.
The epipen is actually in my purse at all times...along with Jon's other emergency meds. He also has Addison's...and he requires emergency doses of cortizone by injection when his body has a trauma.
We were almost to the hospital by the time I realized...so i just took him in and they took him right back and gave him the shot of epinephrine.
He's fine...although his tummy is very upset. This always happens when he has a reaction to something.
And yes...DQ will be compensating me...I will make sure of that. I will get my money back and they will be paying the medical. Good thing is he is absolutely fine...
Jen, my ds15 had his first food allergy reaction in 2nd grade at school. They insisted it was asthma. I had no idea, so i went with it. He was actually having a reaction and his throat was closing! Thank goodness I went with my instincts and brought him to the Dr. You did the right thing, Jon's fine. No harm, no foul. :lovestruc We're only human....
Jon's had asthma since he was about 1 1/2...and we're used to it. But, we haven't had a reaction like this since he was 8 or 9???
I just feel bad...because I didn't immediately understand.
He's had food allergies his entire life, but most we have grown out of. Peanuts...not so much I guess.
Ummmmm....no...you're not overreacting at all. :eek: If there are incidents such as this...places like this usually have to fill out an incident report. And should be required to tell parent.
:scared1:
I'm glad that Leo got back on the horse though. Shows he's growing up!!!
Have fun shopping CE! I hope you find some great buys.:thumbsup2
V- No over reaction, at all! I hope you touched base with the camp director when you dropped Leo off this AM. It is very important that they tell you of any falls or hits to the head! My ds had a bad concussion this year from a fall (not hard to do). The good thing is that he got a bump, which indicates the swelling went outside, instead of inward. :thumbsup2
Dawn- Have fun at the photo shoot! What a fun thing to have for you dd's scrapbook!
___________________________
I just booted my dh out of the house, so I could get on the computer in the office. He has been working from home too much! I need to get on our main computer and get my photo's situated for my TR. I also have been doing laundry, laundry and more laundry. Tink has all new bedding and she scratched herself and got blood on the duvet. I have washed that thing 5x and I still see the spot!:headache:
Tink and I are hanging out again. It is too darn hot and humid outside to play out there. Tink is playing Ice Cream store with me and her Minnie Mouse Doll, whilst I do a titch of catching up here on the DIS. I forgot to tell you that yesterday, when we did nails, Tink had me do piggie tails in her hair and MINE! It was a sight to be seen! :rotfl2:
Morning all! This week, on Tales From Horse Camp...
Leo fell off his horse yesterday. :headache: And I need to know if I'm being over-protective:
I only learned of this fall from Leo. The school/camp told me nothing. He's fine, but he hit his head and he explained that the helmet hit the ground and the back of his head hit the helmet - there's a lump. Now, I've worn riding helmets and the way they fit, his head shouldn't be knocking against the hard part at all; that's the whole point of the helmet's design. I think. So I'm irked that A. it doesn't sound like he's wearing a properly-fitted helmet, and B. they didn't think it worth telling the parent that he hit his head. Be honest - am I asking too much?
No over reation at all. I hope you spoke to them when you dropped him off this morning:mad:
Pixie dust wishes for everyone to have a GOOD day. Not even aiming for great - I'll take GOOD. :wizard:
Have fun CE:goodvibes
I just booted my dh out of the house, so I could get on the computer in the office. He has been working from home too much! I need to get on our main computer and get my photo's situated for my TR. I also have been doing laundry, laundry and more laundry. Tink has all new bedding and she scratched herself and got blood on the duvet. I have washed that thing 5x and I still see the spot!:headache:
Try resolve carpet spot remover. It works wonders:thumbsup2
Hi everyone! Hi CE :wave2:
No, the IL's didn't call yet. We just got back from swimming lessons. Gus said the funniest thing! I asked how he thinks it's going and he replied, " It's going great. Except that my butt keeps sinking. You'd think it would float it's so round?!"
Ha! :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:
I am going to shower (couldn't see the point since I'd be sitting and sweating on the shore...) and then stop at the grocery store. My poor dh has a terrible cold (Lessa, were you here?? :) ) and he's used every kleenex in the house! We're on our own again for dinner. There's all sorts of drama at dh's company and I'm pretty stressed but haven't shared because it's SO long and protracted it would take 2 pages! Anyway, he's not going to be around much for the forseeable future. He just dropped the "I'm going to China for a month in Sept." bomb on me last week.
Hope you guys are doing better!
V: You're spot on about Leo's fall. I'd want to know too!
Dawn: You need to listen to MORE Weezer, then! All their songs are Sing-alongs!!!
MEL:banana:
Thanks all - it's always good to make sure I'm not going overboard in my parenting, y'know? No, I haven't talked to anyone yet. There's no one with whom to talk at drop-off and pick-up - just the teenage counselors signing kids in and out and they're beyond clueless. That's a whole other issue I'm having - the counselors are far more interested in socializing with each other than interacting with the campers. Leo struggled to get into my car by himself the other day because the kid in charge was busy flirting with a girl. :mad: I don't know if he'll go back to this camp next year.
Mel- :eek: That is a bomb to be dropped on you! Has your Dh ever had to travel for such a long time before?
V- That poses a problem with voicing a concern...:confused3 Was the camp sponsored through somewhere like YMCA? Some teen agers are so disengaged. Hormones!:upsidedow
Tomorrow is Jury Duty day. I suppose I can't get out of it again. I fear I go9t the summons because of my pending disability case that I have yet to hear about. Oh well. My biggest drama? Having to BE THERE at 8:30am I am not a morning person and I am NOT anywhere at 8:30am but in bed. I don't even go to sleep until 3am usually. It's bound to be a lousy day.
Today I am home and cleaning up. Making some Chili Tamale Pie (chili w/cornbread topping) for dinner so there are leftovers tomorrow in case I'm stuck there for a while. Here's hopin' I'm not.
KC saw my menu list on the fridge and said "oh just like school" snidely. Butthead. :lmao: He also doesn't seem to understand all the things that need to be done before the vacation, esp since I;m leaving him home for 3 days without me. I'm scared of that!
