Support Group - 10 lbs or less

The weekend wasn't bad here! I only gained a little- maybe like half a pound (my normal gain is 4-5lbs for the weekend) although now two days later I'm still hanging at the same weight I normally am after losing the water weight :confused3

We ate healthy on Friday, went out for drinks and had a few beers, on Saturday we ate out and I got a cheeseburger but it didn't sit well for me at all. On Sunday we worked out and I was mostly good on my eating. We drank a lot less and ate less than normal for a weekend which was good.

I ran 4.5 miles on Monday - race is in less than 5 weeks! I felt really good after it. I'm loving my Garmin and just started putting stuff on garmin connect. It's so cool!

This weekend will be a beach weekend and we're going out for someone's birthday on Saturday night so I'll have to make a special effort not to go crazy on food and drink!!

MommyMcQ~ I still think making a special effort and watching what you do on the weekend is still a big accomplishment even if you don't see the loss (or lack of gain) you wanted. Just think- there's no way you were in excess of 7000 calories... so you couldn't have actually gained a real 2lbs!

pixiedust & ghoulish~ Hang in there! I do the same thing half the weekends :headache: And Happy Bday pixiedust! :cheer2:

:welcome: vettegirl!!

MMQ -- you had far too successful a weekend for a true 2 lb gain  how the scale settled back down for you.

:welcome: vette!!

Karen :woohoo: great job this weekend -- i need the inspiration!

i popped on WISH this weekend and saw no replies on our thread and i figured my friends were struggling over the weekend too. we had confirmation lunch on sunday after church, so i know i was over on Sunday. Saturday i was not doing well controling my sugar impluses --

i did, however, get my 11 miles in for the 1/2 training last friday. my legs/shins started talking to me at mile 8 and were screaming at me the last mile. I'm going to PT twice this week and intend on finishing out the big training walks tomorrow morning with the 8 miler. i'll be satisfied if I can get over 6 in, my legs/feet are really ready for a taper.

tomorrow afternoon i'm leaving for a long scrapbook weekend -- only 2 meals are provided which i'm happy about. there are maybe 10 gals that will be staying the weekend, everyone pitching in food/snacks. i'm going to bring some yogurt and few things to help me stay focused, and remember to really think about whether this snack or that one is worth the calories. i.e., box-made brownies, sure they are good but are they worth it? it's not like it's chocoulate souffle at Palo :thumbsup2

I did good this week! The kids were home on vacation and we did some eating out but I was still able to lose weight this week! I am down 3.4 pounds:woohoo:

I managed to track almost all my food all week; ate out at Taco Bell and only had one fresco taco, which didn't fill me but it was enough to satisfy me for a short time. We stopped there on the way home from the zoo and I also had some healthy snacks in the car that I ate on the ride home after Taco Bell. Also went to lunch at Not Your Average Joe's where they have the most amazing bread and oil/garlic/parmesan dip....:cloud9:it is sooooo goood! I had one peice but looked up thepoints value for it and made sure I counted in my daily points (weight watchers) I also ordered a salad with grilled chicken and had oil & vinegar on the side.

Exercised a good amount this week....I started the couch to 5k plan last week. My knee is giving me trouble even with the little bit of running on week 1, so I don't know how that is going to go.

Overall, I am pretty excited with my progress and self control this week! Fingers crossed that it continues. Hope everyone else has a good week as well.

Thanks Karen - you're right, it is probably just water weight or whatever - I don't actually get too disappointed anymore when I see it go up on a Monday - pretty used to it now. ;) One of these weekends I'll have a loss!! I'm determined to do it now!!!

Great job on your weekend and all your running! Also thanks for the tip on the shirts from Target - stopped there today and looked at them! They're nice!

Wow - OhMom - 11 miles is incredible! Hope your legs are feeling better.

My scale did settle down for me - Tuesday morning I weighed and lost 1, and this morning I lost the other 1, so back to where I was last Saturday morning...and actually .5 down from that. Been a good week - tracking everything and staying on my calories, walked Monday night with DH and the kids and did C25K last night. Tonight I'm meeting a friend at the mall and we walk, it should be fun. The mall is about a mile lap, and last time we walked 6 laps, so I should get a good walk in tonight...always helps when you have someone to chat with along the way.

Have fun at the scrapbook weekend! Fellow scrapbooker here! I've never done a weekend crop but they look fun!

Hi Cepmom! Congrats on the loss! That is great! Congrats on starting the C25K, I'm on week 4 and love it. I hope the knee pain doesn't hold you back. I ice my shins after every walk and that helps with that - actually the first week my shins hurt the most - after that I've had very little pain but I'm into a regular routine of icing now after each one. Good Luck!

so i ran an awful, hot, and hilly 5k on sunday at 2pm, it was awful!
then i got sick sunday night so i haven't run since then and it is driving me crazy! I lifted some hand weights last night but that's it. I feel behind!

Aw. Yeah I read your blog- sounds like a tough 5k!! At least you had cute new clothes to wear while doing it! And omg I can't believe that sizing you talked about. Makes me hesitate ordering anything online (I'm sooo picky with clothes and how they fit). Feel better!!

I had my yearly work physical today (I work at a chemical manufacturing plant so there's a nurse onsite and we get a physical yearly). I was really surprised because this morning I weighed myself and was 135.4, then there I was 134.6 fully clothed with shoes on after drinking water :confused3 I hate that. I wish I knew which scale was right! I remember my wii fit told me I weighed less than our scale at home too. Who knows. Either way, last year I weighed in at 142 during my physical :) I'm pretty interested to see my bloodwork too.

cepmom~ I'm truly inspired. I have not been super diligent, although better than normal I guess!

I did zumba class for an hour today, tons of lunges. Man I love that class. I have been going for a year and a half now. Stuck to a banana for breakfast, grilled ck salad for lunch (no croutons) light dressing on the side, and two low carb tortilla shrimp tacos I made at home. I am so tempted to get a 31cent scoop at Baskin Robbins tonight :) I looked it is only 160 calories and 11 grams in the scoop. I have not had sweets in over 2 weeks. It would be nice to have a treat.

How'd everyone do over the weekend??

Eating and drinking for me was bad (up 4lbs since Friday) :sad2: but I did make a healthy new meatloaf recipe that I was really psyched about on Sunday. I need to get a handle on things this month!! We went to the beach on Saturday and out for a friend's bday. Then ate bad on Sunday since I wasn't feeling too good after Saturday!

I ran on Saturday morning in the heat- 2.5 miles. I had run 4 on Thursday and 4.5 on Monday so I made it a short day, but tried to vary my speed. I did a half mile at 9:00 then a half at 11:00 and so on for 2.5 miles. I felt really good after, even though I was really tired. Then I woke up on Sunday feeling like I had pulled something in my right leg- my quad maybe? I've been icing it since and am flipping out because it's only 4 weeks to the 10K and I don't feel like I can run at all!! I don't even know how I pulled it- I stretched and warmed up on Saturday more than usual. :confused3 How do you guys deal with pulled muscles? I was going to skip the run today and go to the gym and do the elliptical/bike or something. Do you run through the pain? Stop working out? Just take it easy? :sad1:

Hi Karen!

Sorry to hear your leg is sore! Hope it feels better after some rest! Sorry, I don't have any advice on what to do about it...

I had a decent weekend...shockingly!!! I weighed myself Saturday morning and I'm the same today.

Friday night we went out for fast food since we had some errands to run - I limited myself to 500 calories (burger, small fries). Saturday morning I got up and did C25K - it was hard since I never walk in the morning, so I was actually really tired - just didn't have my usual energy, plus it was sunny and humid, I was just dripping wet and beet red. Saturday we went camping but I did okay - I ate all small meals and allowed myself 2 s'mores (added up to 300 calories). Only had 1 drink so fewer calories there than normal. It was a good day and I was happy that I could go, enjoy myself and not feel totally deprived.

Sunday was okay - did eat a little more than usual, snacked after we got home from camping (I think out of boredom), but just ate a salad with a little bit of chicken for dinner. Also did C25K last night - W5D1 - it was a bit harder, all 5 min runs. But I did it, and did 1 extra 5 min interval, so ran total of 20 minutes. Tomorrow will be a big day - they have an 8 min run on there, hope I can make it.

So all in all it was a good weekend for me. Back to tracking everything and plan out my workouts for the week. Goal for next weekend is to see the scale go down!!! Still 13 pounds from my goal...lotta work to do yet.

Hope everyone had a good weekend!

MMQ -- i think your weekend was very successful!

Karen -- i would not walk(run) myself if I felt like it was a pulled muscle. let it heal completely....seems like it should heal quickly if it's just a simple strain, i wouldn't worry about event 4 weeks away quite yet...did you get your long training runs in yet?

well my weekend went bust. i was gone thur-sun night, we brought some food for lunches, and we brought healthy things. but the 'pitch-in' on saturday was mostly snacks and sweets. i had taken a sheet cake, didn't ever think i'd bring any home, but i did and just had it for breakfast! oops!

I didn't do so well this weekend. Had DD's birthday party on Saturday and even though I swore I wouldn't I ate 2 pieces of ice cream cake, chips and pizza . Then yesterday I was back on track, went to MIL's for her birthday and brought my own healthy food since the food they were serving was gong to be too many points for me and we were planning on taking DD to Uno's for her birthday dinner. Did well at Uno's and had a slad and the veggie soup (which ws really good!) but then DD ordered the mega sized chocolate chip cookie sundae and we all shared it. When we got home I ate some more junk and I have no idea why since I wasn't even hungry I just wanted to pick. :headache:

Hopefully back on track today though...I weigh in on Wednesday and at this point I'm hoping to just stay the same and not gain this week

so i am finally feeling better after 7 days of sickness. hoping to get my first good run in today!

I took the day off from the gym yesterday and iced my leg. I ate pretty well - ended up with 1130 calories for the day and drank all my water. I'm trying to track on sparkpeople again to keep up with what I'm eating. I'm down 2.2 lbs today from yesterday :) Need to be down 2 more and I'll be at my Friday weight.

I'm going to the gym tonight to do the elliptical/bike and will do strength tomorrow and run on Thursday. I think my leg should be doing better by then!

heatherlynn~ good to hear you're feeling better!

ohMom~ I got up to 4.5 miles (I'm planning on getting up to 6 before the race). Monday was my long run day so I nixed that and will run on Thursday. I think I could do a 10K now, just might want to die at the end :rotfl:

MommyMcQ~ awesome job on the weekend! :thumbsup2

yikes! that is not very many calories! pelase tell me you eat more than that on workout days! as a runner, to MAINTAIN weight I need 2500+ calories a day, so to lose weight I am eating around 2000

cepmom -- i do that to myself too, last weekend i told myself i wasn't going to eat things when i wasn't hungry just b/c it was there...yea..didn't happen. how did you w/i go?

heather, i'm so glad to hear you are feeling better!

tapering started for me this week, walked 3 miles yesterday and they were awful! my shins hurt, my pace was embarassing....so back to being completely faithful with the icing..tonight going to yoga class

Hope everyone is having a good week!

Last night was a big accomplishment for me - did W5D2 of the C25K which conisists of 8 minute running intervals - and I was able to do them all and even a little more! I was REALLY nervous about it - I don't think I've ever run 8 minutes before in my life. :goodvibes So when I started out I did the first 8 and was feeling pretty good - so I added 1 more minute on it and did 9. (Tomorrows run is a straight 20 minute, so with the thought of that looming over my head I wanted to push myself a little bit longer). After my second 9 min I was feeling REALLY great that I did it, and I felt like I had tons of energy. I walked a couple minutes and decided to do 1 more interval so I did an additional 9 min. Its funny - it seems like the running that I do after I finish with what is "required" of me for that day is so much easier to do! I'm sure it's all in my head - like the pressure is off and I can just go and do it and actually enjoy it, and not worry "am I gonna make it??"

So I weighed myself this morning and I'm down 2 pound from Monday - not sure if that's accurate, seems like a lot for me in 3 days. I could be a little low on water, so I'll be drinking more today and see. I was very happy to see that number but not sure if I believe it! If I'm still there tomorrow then I'll believe it!

Tomorrow is big a C25K day - first 20 min run! I am super nervous but after the good run yesterday I do think I'm ready for it. I had read that at this point in the program it is all mind over matter...your body is ready. I do actually think I can do it, so I just have to keep telling myself that I can! I am a bit worried because I'm coming down with my son's cold (he's had a bad cough this week) and I need a good nights sleep tonight...last 2 nights haven't been too good (running DS to the ER at midnight and last night we had severe thunderstorms and tornado warnings) so hoping I can get a good sleep tonight and be well rested for tomorrows run! :thumbsup2

My problem is that I don't know WHAT I should be eating!!! I posted a thread about how much to eat maybe a week or two ago after you said you came in at 2000 calories... I was like WHAT? I could never eat 2000 calories and lose weight- on the contrary I'd gain. I just don't know how much I should be eating. I probably hover between 1200 and 1450 on most days during the week. :confused3 When I posted the question people said anything from 1200 to 1600 I think.

This week I've dropped to below what I was on Friday so the weekend "weight" is gone and I'm down another 0.6lbs but that's nothing really abnormal. Still in my same "range."

I didn't work out Monday but did 50 min of cardio and abs/stretching on Tuesday, then did body pump yesterday and going for a run today. I've got free lunch at work the next two days so let's see how good I can do. It's always a sandwich, chips and dessert (today will be a sandwich, tomorrow will be chick fil a). I'm hoping to at least not eat the chips!

Great work this week everyone! :thumbsup2

TFIG! Hope everyone has had a good week. Mine has been pretty good!

Last night I ran my very first 20 min run on the C25K! It was good - it was hard though. The longest I've ran was 9 min the other day, so this was challenge! I did okay until about min 13, then my legs started getting tired, I wanted to stop and stretch but I just slowed down my pace and kept going. Got into a groove until min 17 then I had to go up a small hill, okay tiny hill really - its just a very gradual incline but it felt like a mountain! But I didn't stop (even though I really wanted to!) and eventually I made it to 20 min! My legs were feeling it and my back - I walked a bit and stretched some, which helped. I walked for several minutes and was feeling pretty good - walking at a faster pace than usual, so I attempted to jog again but ohhhh could I feel it and I only made it 2 mins. Iced the shins last night and feel pretty good today - bit tight but not sore. So - WOW just 4 weeks ago I could barely run 1 minute and I just did 20! The route tracker showed me going 1.80 miles in the 20 minutes, which is like 11-11:30 min mile - not bad for a first time?

I weighed in this morning and down another pound! Somehow I lost 3 pounds this week - totally amazing. I'm so excited - down 14 pounds now, 10 more to go! I know the running is what's doing it, I've been diligent on my tracking but I've lost 7 pounds now in the last month which is huge for me, took me over 2 months to lose the first 7 when I was just using my elliptical.

Wednesday night I stopped at Shopko for something and I looked at a couple of their t-shirts, and I tried a couple on and I could actually fit in a small! I think their clothes do run big but I've never been able to get in a small before. I also tried on some capris and shorts and could fit into a size smaller! YEAH! :goodvibes

I've been trying to plan out my workouts for the weekend - it will be a bit difficult since the weatherman is calling for SNOW here tomorrow! :sad2: Seriously? Snow? 2-4 inches he said. Then it will all melt on Sunday when it is 50 degrees. So hopefully I can get back out on Sunday to start Week 6!

Hope everyone has a good weekend!

:banana::banana: Mommy McQ!! That's awesome. Isn't it a great feeling to be able to run?! I used to be the same way- I didn't do C25K but it probably would have really helped me out. In no time you'll be running 3 miles ;) And SNOW? In MAY? I don't know how you deal.

So yesterday we had firehouse sandwiches at work and I did end up eating the whole thing :headache: I had the sandwich, chips and cookie. Argh. I was up 0.8 lbs today too. So today we're having chick fil a box lunches at work. I just looked up the nutritional information and OMG!!!!! 430 cal for the sandwich (it's JUST chicken!), 360 for the brownie and like 400 for the cole slaw plus probably like 200 for chips?! HOLY COW  So I'm going to REALLY try to have the yogurt I have in the fridge and eat just the sandwich. I'm the one "giving" the lunch to our guys for doing a good job so I do have to eat with them- I can't just bail. But wow I can't believe the amt of calories in all that :scared: [sidenote: I have to do this Mon, Wed and Fri of next week too!!]

I ran yesterday with a friend- only 2.6 miles, it was 95 out and I just am not used to the heat yet. Also it was day 1 of "my friend" so I was NOT feeling well. Today is body pump and I'm going to try to run two miles after it. Tomorrow we're going out on a boat with friends and have to leave before 9am so I'm going to try really hard to get up early and run 2.5 miles. I've got the race in 3 weeks, and a wedding to go to in Florida in 4!!

I hope everyone has a good weekend!! :dance3:
