We are flying from BOS in April and it seemed like they were changing the times almost daily, sometimes by just a few minutes. Each time they dropped our seat assignments and I had to contact them to get them back. What a pain. I have been checking it once or twice a day. Of course now that I am writing this I am probably going to jinx myself but maybe, just maybe, they have it all set.

Don't worry...they still have a month to make more changes. The way I figure it is, is I can stop worrying about changes once that hatch swings shut, and we prepare for departure!!! I'm wondering how many more times my flights in May will change.

Isn't that strange, how they will change the flight by a few minutes and yet lose your seats? I have a flight from LGA to MCO March 27 at 7 AM on Song, and originally it had the arrival time in MCO as 9:55. I checked on it this morning and, although the departure time is the same, they now show an arrival time of 10:00. You guessed it -- I lost my seat assignment due to this and had to call to get it back. One would think that it is costing them a lot in terms of personnel to deal with all these changes (not to mention the customer service issues).

I too have been checking with changes being for only 1 minute arrival difference! We are going in April. Everytime I called I was told th at the seats are held. I'm not sure if I believe this 100%, but it's what I was told by several people at song.

You are right -- it's hard to know what to believe. With an August flight that changed to Delta from Song, they said they had kept our seat assignments but that it wouldn't show up online (?!). For this one in March, with a 5 minute change in arrival time (still Song), they gave me a different seat when I called to check on my seat assignment.

So far, each time they have dropped/re-assigned the seats we have gotten the same seats back. I make sure to let them know that we are flying with children and don't really want to be separated. Not sure if this matters to them, but the seats always come back.

Do you all recommend my NOT booking with Song based on the hassles you are experiencing? I've been on the computer all day today searching for the best price for our April trip and Song is the winner flying out of Boston to MCO. But I really don't want to be tied to the computer for the next month having to check my flight several times a day with multiple calls to get my seat assignments back. What would you suggest? Would you do fly with Song even after this?

Kimberly, I have had these exact same issues every single time I have flown with Delta/Song. This is nothing new. They are famous for changing things around. It's a bit worse now because they are merging Song back into the Delta fold. I have Delta booked for Oct, and they have already made changes to both flights. But, I'm hoping that after this spring things will have been shaken out, so to speak, and they'll have their act back together (such as it is) by late summer.
Do I recommend booking with Delta now? That's a tough one. I did book my flights in May with them. They have remained very close to the original times that I booked, but there's time yet for them to fudge around with the times. If you see a great airfare you might want to jump on it. My suggestion would be to not make any concrete plans based on those flight times....like booking an arrival night dinner at Chef Mickey's for 6:30 based on your flight arriving at MCO at 11:00 am. They could change that flight to one arriving at 5!!! Or even after your dinner time. so, be flexible. That's the lesson I have learned when dealing with air travel. They hold all the cards.

If the price was only a little different, I would go with Jetblue (although I have read that they have changed some flights out of Boston, so you might not be safe there, either) because I haven't had any problem with them, and if your price goes down they will issue you a credit for the difference. However, if Delta/Song is less than anyone else by a lot, go ahead -- you know that they will get you there (even though they may change your exact flight plans several times before you go!).

Unless they have a special I would not go with jet blue. I just priced delta and jet blue. Jet blue was almost $450 more for 4 people

JetBlue is running a little high right now. I booked my dh and dd on a flight from Logan to MCO on May 16...it was $158 for the both of them...just going down, since they are flying Delta home with me from Tampa. But, the 7 pm flight time got changed to 4:55, and the fare changed from $79 pp to $294 pp, now it is at $199 pp. Go figure. I would have booked Delta/Song for them but they didn't have any good flight times that would allow my dd to not miss school that day...and now this. It will be a close call to get her off the bus to the airport..

I would book with Song again if I had it to do all over again. The prices are better now, and were much better when I booked the flight. I like the idea of using the new terminal at Logan. Since it is only used by Delta/Song it should not be as busy as terminal C. It seems that a lot of airlines keep changing their flight times, not sure if they do the same dropping of seat assignments when they change the flights. Since I am online everyday, it is not a huge deal to check the flights. I have never called them when the flight gets changed. I use their 'contact us' link on the web site, tell them to get me my seat assignments back and they do. Often it only takes a few minutes for me to get an e-mail response back telling me that the seats are back. It is a small hassle, but the price I paid makes it worth it.

Hi Kim,

For what is worth, last week I flew AA down & Spirit back. I booked 330 days in advance. Both airlines, changed my flights, seats & times.

I, did keep on top, & checked oftern. When there was a change, I called them & rebooked what worked best for our family. Both carriers were happy to help. (both changed at least 3 times)

I am flying Delta Song from MCO to LGA the Sunday after Thanksgiving (one of the busiest days of year) I am expecting changes, due to Song turning to Delta. I will just keep checking. It is worth the $79.00 that my family has paid for a non stop flight, for that day.

Hope this helps

Patricia
