Something going on last weekend of Feb 26-29th?

So I have been looking for a hotel over the last 5 weeks. Pricing and availability have been terrible compared to Jan and nearly all the times I went in 2015, including holiday weekends. What is going on? Is there an event that weekend near by? I know Spring break starts for some colleges, but this seems excessive for the end of Feb.

Maybe everyone booked in hopes there would be a 24 hour day on Leap Day?

Interesting theory. Though I check out Monday morning in my hotel searches. Though I guess maybe if they did, it would be that weekend and not Monday night? Though other 24-hour events are public well before the 1 week prior mark. Driving me nuts as my annual pass expires and trying to get one last weekend trip in.

I just checked the Knott's Berry Farm hotel as well, since they do a free shuttle to Disneyland. And they don't have ANY 2-bed rooms left that weekend!

There is a cheer competition going on at Knott's that weekend so I am sure they'd be booked!

Nice to know it's not the same reason nearby Disneyland hotels are so full and expensive. I still wonder what is going at or near Disneyland. Feb has always been a great time for me to go.

Knott's is only 7 miles from DLR - the people at that event will be going to DLR, don't you worry!! They normally have it at DCA but could not this year.

There are often events going on at the convention centre that can block up hotel reservations. This thread below has a lot of info on what is going on when.

We will be at the parks on the 27th but skipping the Sunday. We expect it to be busy but are hoping the following week won't be as busy, weekends are always busy regardless of what time of year you go, even February. In fact this past weekend in February is likely one of the busiest of the year due to the holiday.

Also, if you are looking for multiple nights this close to the weekend it could be that only one of the nights in your reservation is full but not the rest. Perhaps calling the hotel could help?

There are 4 conventions listed in Anaheim for that time frame( and one has 40,000 attendees!), as well as the cheer leading competition, so that's probably why the rooms are either booked or pricey!

4? I just checked the convention schedule and between Feb 26-29 there is only the Religious Education Congress. Where do you see the other 3?

Rodeo week in Tucson and schools are out, so it seems half the town goes to DLR:rolleyes:

I go all the time on weekends, and have been plenty of times during the week. The Diamond Celebration has pretty much demolished low times. Which were not really that low if you ask me. The last 4 times we went, our days bled into the weekends. Jan and Feb weekends have been better for me than say Summer time or holiday weekends. But since it didn't look like any of that was going on that weekend, I am shocked at the skyrockets pricing and low availability. I tried changing dates all over the place, even this weekend. Pricing is just way higher than it usually is.

Thanks for the link.

Well, based on the link shared and hotel options, looks like I am going today until 2/23 instead of the following weekend. This will be my first same-day Out-of-state Disneyland trip. Guess we will see how it goes. Thanks for the link. Hopefully this weekend will be better than next weekend. :)

Have a great weekend!! Don't forget this is the end of "President's Week" but weekends are busy - right? That is what we prepare for!!
