Not Exactly. She has it Narrowed Down to two possible Mondays this year.

either the 12th or 19th of november.
i'm still narrowing it down...........

off to work soon.

i miss not being on the thread.
will be here when the skool bell rings today..

sleepyheads:) ; i need to start taking down decorations (the un-fun part lol); shall have DH bring down the Xmas decs from the attic & encourage him to string the lights while it's still near 60.

He thinks it's so ghetto to put them up so early:rolleyes1 ; imo better than in sub-freezing temps & just not firing them up until Dec.

Morning all!!! I am  cuz I gots off tomorrow....2 day weekend for me!! (which, is what most of you already get, but I usually only get off Sundays :guilty: ) But, soccer game tomorrow morning, and then they are thinking of "making up" the one we missed last Saturday due to the rain....and it's like a 45 minute drive from here :guilty: So...still waitin on that verdict!!

Yesterday I said to Bubba, "Know what next month is?" He said, "No." I said, "Christmas! So ya better get movin' on that list!" ;) (Then had to explain it was November 1st yesterday  (already!) Then I said to him, "Know what the month after next is?" He said, "No." I said, "YOUR birthday!" Then he thought and said to me, "You know what the month after THAT is?" (Playing dumb) I said, "No." He says, "Mother's Day!" :lmao: :lmao: Ahh....my son  Told him as much as I wished it, wasn't going to happen :sad2: .....we'd be in February (Valentine's Day)....

Barb - Gotta love a man in uniform!

::yes:: ...even married one .....

Well, like Barb - I am going to watch Survivor.

C'mon Jennifer....wasn't that GREAT!!! :rotfl: I was SO hoping she was going to play the dummy immunity idol....and poor James, could barely contain his laughter when she did :lmao: :lmao: Excellent episode imo :thumbsup2

Off to find some trouble.....

Hope everyone has a great Friday!!!

i agree Janet...get them up while it's warm out...just not put them ON till Black Friday! and I think it's "ghetto" to keep them up ALL year long....

i set a goal to have all gifts bought & wrapped by Nov 30:rolleyes1 i've been up past midnight years xmas eve years past madly wrapping after kids went to bed

Hey Janet - you no longer have half a naner! At least on my screen just the very bottom of his feet are chopped off. Did you play with your signature or did they give us an extra half line? Oh, and I hear you on the "holding kids back" thing. In Detroit, the school cutoff was in December, so many kids started before 5. Parents might hold back a November birthday (especially a boy), but that was about it. We moved here and the cutoff is late August. Parents here hold kids back to about April.

So my DS14, who turned 14 the end of July, has several classmates and friends who are well over a year older than him. Even DS12, with a late May birthday, has most of his friends over a year older than him. I think his 3 best friends have birthdays in April, May, and July, but a year earlier. There were a few months this spring when it seemed like most of his friends (all 6th graders at the time) were 13 and he was still 11. But the funny thing was that his brother (who was an 8th grader) was still 13 for several more months! So his friends now are all really closer to his brother's age (who's 2 years older than him!).

Barb - indoor soccer starts tonight for us. At least here in Green Bay they're reasonable on soccer times. Yes, Friday night isn't ideal (in terms of date night - but as far as my job it actually works best because I'm off and don't have to worry about getting them there!), but the times are normal - all games are in the 4-8pm time frame. Back in the Detroit area, the schedules were CRAZY for the older kids. Last year there DS played in a U-15 league and they had ALL their games on Saturdays - either 6am, 7am, or 11pm or Midnight. The next season they played up to U-19 and also added in 1am (yes, that's AM) games as well. Most these kids were 13 and 14. Just ridiculous? Or is it just me? :confused3

Okay, some more of the pics I promised. This one is my DS12 playing the new piano in our brand new church (dedicated it a couple weeks ago). This is obviously during a rehearsal (can you tell by his formal "Callaway" shirt?) because it would be "tacky" to take pics during an actual mass!

Ericatpiano.jpg

The rest are from his time at camp. He managed to get exactly ONE shot with him in it, and the person who took it obviously had their hand over the lens, but what can you do?

11-1-2007-16.jpg

However, he took most of the roll of scenery shots, so here are a few pretty "up north in the boonies" pics:

54 days until christmas!:scared1:

I second that :scared1: :scared1:

i set a goal to have all gifts bought & wrapped by Nov 30:rolleyes1 i've been up past midnight years xmas eve years past madly wrapping after kids went to bed

Make sure you remember what is which box....I tend to NOT wrap early for that very reason :rolleyes1

Marcie....beautiful pix...thanks for sharing.... Our indoor soccer starts Monday and games will be Monday nites early (yes, cuz they are 8 & 9 yr olds) ..which is okay by me....no more sitting outside freezing my who-who's off :scared: I can't understand why they give the kids the late or real early times :confused3 , but I'm glad ours is a reasonable time....or else we wouldn't do it.

Well...off to make ugly people a little less ugly today (notice I didn't say "pretty" today :rolleyes1 )

Catch you all this evening :thumbsup2 Has a great day!

Happy Friday Everyone!

I know I'm late again.

Jennifer - I'm just really good at finding easy patterns to carve pumpkins. It took a couple of years to realize that if it was listed as "moderate" to "difficult", I better skip it.

Marcie - You had quite a pumpkin patch going on at your house! I can't tackle more than 3 by myself. I just don't have the patience for it.

And nice pictures you son took at camp. Looks like a beautiful spot!

Janet - Your hubby didn't want to take off from work to help you give birth, but he considered missing to decorate for Halloween?

I agree that putting lights up while the weather is warm makes sense, just not plugging them in. It's the people that still have Christmas lights up in March that I wonder about.

Barb - Enjoy your 2 day weekend. Brad works every Saturday too, so we only get 1 day off as a family. I know what it's like.

Valentine's Day is kinda like Mother's Day at Bubba's age. You've got to get a mushy card for Mom and do something nice. Same difference, right? ;) :confused3

Penny - I only have 8 days until Joshua's birthday. I'll worry about the Christmas countdown after that.

:scared1: :scared1:

someone come rescue me from these bowls of candy!!!!!!

Happy Friday All!!

ANyone have any super plans for the weekend? Not too much going on here, me and Jim both have the nasties, he actually worked from home yesterday and is again today. The man NEVER stays home, EVER!!! So I know he is not feeling well.....but not sick enough to go to the doctor :rolleyes1 (whatever)

Where is Penny with the week 9 football shout out?

I agree about getting the lights done now.....better than in sub zero weather:thumbsup2

It's okay Tracie. We can share a hospital room when we both enter a sugar coma. ;)

My plans for the weekend? The usual tomorrow. Letting the kids run wild while I try to get some house stuff done. Sunday, however, will be Torture Day. That's right folks, it is once again time for the annual Christmas family picture. That's the day where I get to turn into the beast from hell as I try to convince the men in my life to get cleaned up, stay cleaned up for the drive to the photography studio, be polite and pose and SMILE like normal people, so that I can have ONE DECENT PICTURE OF MY FAMILY EACH YEAR!

Is that too much to ask?

Apparently, since I will deal with a constant flow of, "Why do we have to do this again?" "Why are we wearing these dorky clothes?" "My shirt doesn't match his." "How come I have to match your shirt?" "This is SO boring." "Didn't we just have a stupid picture made?"

Trying to explain to the children that we don't match exactly, we "coordinate" is impossible. Like in What Not To Wear when Stacie or Clinton get the "but it doesn't match" whine from somebody and they snap back with "It doesn't match, it GOES."

Oh, yes... Sunday will be fun. Can't you feel my anticipation? :scared:

Count me in too :grouphug: How long you think they'll let us stay before the kick our obnoxious butts out? :rolleyes1

You have my sympathies...good luck!

My plan for the weekend is this:
First, try not to eat candy
Second, go to soccer game in the morning
Third, nothing
Fourth, eat something (not candy)
Fifth, go to bed

Pretty boring day....

Sunday goes like this:
Sleep in
(no soccer game--next Sunday)
Do laundry and clean
Meet friends for dinner (early dinner)
Go home and get ready for Desperate Housewives & workout
Go to bed

Then, it's Monday.

Pretty boring...*sigh*...... I think you'll have more excitement than me Tricia!

We are off to karate soon.... and then home for the night........

Maybe catch you homies soon???

Loved everyone's Halloween pics! Thanks to everyone who shared their little ones in costumes! Loved it!

Janet, your house must be the talk of the neighborhood. It looks AWESOME!!!

Tracie, sorry you're not feeling well. :headache: On a brighter, note: Couples who get sick together, stay together, I'm told!

Forgive me as I haven't had time to catch up fully, but I did want to respond to this:

I have some suggestions for outfits that coordinate as opposed to "match" perfectly perfect, and I am wondering if you'll find them helpful. You seem like a very creative person, Tricia, so perhaps if you don't have these items handy, you could make them?

Perhaps something more subtle a la 1980s?

Let me know what you decide!

what.......no sex this weekend?

Good evening everyone. I loved all the Halloween pics. I have read everything, but just have not had time to respond to everyone.

My plans for the weekend;
Soccer game
2 basketball games
drive to dad's
spend rest of the weekend packing up step monster's crap.
eat & sleep

Terribly exciting!

Jodie - I'll be sure to pick something from the Plaid Stallions collection! :lmao:

Actually, in digging through the closets, I have come up with a forest green shirt for Brad & Joshua and a cranberry-ish shirt for me & Daniel. So, we will sorta be matchy-match, but not exactly, and in the newer, hipper shades for Christmas...

Oh, who am I kidding. It'll look dorky. It's a family Christmas picture. Aren't they nearly required to be dorky? :confused3

Barb - Let me know how the "try not to eat candy" thing goes. It's not working real well here at my house. :rolleyes1

:scared: I want to know why you have those pictures Jodie! :scratchin

Oh, and speaking of how tall the kids are...here's me & Bubba on our way out the door for class tonite.....

(Yes, only going to be 9 in January :sad2: ....got the "talls" from me  )

bubba looks like his mommie.
such a cutie!
and the momma is a cutie also.

Hope everyone has a great weekend.

no presents wrapped (sigh); maybe tomorrow i box up the decorations (after i wash the outside of the windows - many are stationary by design:mad: so it's up on the ladder-bleech. Doing my twice a year spit polish of house for holidays (only i skipped the Spring one:guilty: ). Used to own a cleaning company, had to "fill in" when the girls called off sick...very little I hate more than heavy cleaning. I shall try not to bore you to tears over the next 3 weeks.
mac - you have a talent for getting to the meat of any subject:lmao:

lori & barb both sound like they need a blackberry (or crackberry as my ds term them)

jodie - think I had those superman jammies back in the 70's; it's not retro for some of us...it's just old-ha!

elmer - good luck, first & last professional DS pic of my three sons, the youngest was 2 (let's just say they didn't want to go & made a point of it). The result, a rather uncomplimentary large 10 X 13 still proudly displayed in DR, they all hate it i'm leaving it up forever just to make my point.

I didn't need any help from DH in the labor suite (he had already done enough:rolleyes1 ) jk he was a trooper, just thought he could sneak in a 1/2 shift & I could call him to leave; can't say he's not a hard worker. He's the guy who volunteers to work a shift on the holidays course it's usually double or triple time;)

marci - yes, i did tinker & my baby's back:woohoo: . How proud you must be of your sons, so accomplished:thumbsup2 I give high marks for performing in public. Like the tree pic, rather spooky with the mist/finger?

tracie - rest up, might need to eat more candy to feel better; i bought bagfuls of reduced stuff today (DH lives on candy & pepsi & he's very trim - not fair!popcorn:: ).
