Lori, at the risk of sounding like I'm insane, I would like to share with you an Old Wive's Tale that I find comforting: if someone is being mean to me, I write his or her name on a piece of paper and I throw it in the freezer to get them to "cool off." However, if I hate them and wish them ill (and I'm thinking this applies to your step monster), I write their name down on a piece of paper, get a small container, pour vinegar in it, and then "freeze their name" in the vinegar.

Yes, I know. But it makes me feel better. If I really hate them, I spit in the vinegar before freezing it.

Now, before someone finds me completely vile, this has really only applied to politicians who've screwed our town or our taxes and managers at work who are responsible for messing up my personal life to a very considerable degree or who have been responsible for policy changes that directly affect my paycheck. It also applies to every manager who is a "do I as I say, not as I do" type of manager.

The first time people became privy to what I was doing, they were helping themselves to ice for beverages I was serving, and all these pieces of paper came flying out of my freezer, and I had to explain it. My practice has caught on with some. Others think me crazy.

Now, onto breastfeeding ... Is it a case where she was trying to draw attention to herself? I mean many women breastfeed and the average person walking by wouldn't even know it. And, if she weren't being discreet, I bet if she had done it in the bathroom, no one would've noticed or cared. I just hope she doesn't take Universal and NBC for a big payday and the Simpsons ride gets pushed out to 2013. I guess I don't get the big deal about "covering up." She could've covered up and still breastfed her baby. :confused3

6-1 Dallas at Philly(3-4) on Sunday night-Philly is at home, but Dallas just signed Romo to a 6 year contract, will they beat the Eagles? stay tuned!

UNDEFEATED NEW ENGLAND against UNDEFEATED INDY
:woohoo: yes- they are playing at the colts stadium at 415 pm. But you got to admit, Tom Brady and Company are pretty good....

this is waaaaaay too close....really, either could win....:cool2:
what do you predict for this game?

Your Pats should have a good game Penny :thumbsup2 Will either be extremely exciting OR a snoozer :confused3 Don't think I'll watch the Eagles....will probably be making DH's lunch and getting ready for workout while watching Desperate Housewives....sorry Birds, but my housewives win hands down! :snooty:

Jennifer....glad you didn't have to move furniture  but, sux about yer computer.... glad I married a computer "geek" :rolleyes1 I know it can be frustrating when your "connections" aren't working

barb - curves? you are already sleek:confused:

You would be confused because I don't go to Curves....that's Jodie & Mac! I gots my own set up in the family room....exercise bike and weight bench :thumbsup2

cooking my 1st country ham:eek: seemed like a good idea @ the time ..... Appears as though i'll need a chain saw to cut thru the rind? Anyone have any words of wisdom? It's intimidating me; looks rather creepy there on the stove everytime i pass thru.

Uh....you are a braver woman than me...only the pre-cooked stuff for us :rotfl: I haven't got a clue on what to tell you except google it :rolleyes1 But DO let us know the end result!!

Seen that too and what it was she was sitting on a bench at universal and was breast feeding and an employee told her if she didn't cover up she would have to leave and she told them to get security and while they were at it they could call thier lawyers .
all I can say is that someone probably seen her doing this and complained but she makes it like it was the employees picking on her and be curtious about and cover up or take it somewhere people won't see.:scared1:

Okay, so once I read, I went in search of said article.... I can't tell if she was discreet or not, but I'd like to think so. I know I was always discreet...after all, why would you WANT yourself exposed?? I can remember we were in a restaurant (in a booth in the back...kinda secluded) and I needed to feed Ryan...and believe me, when he wanted to eat, he was very insistant on it. Well, the horror look on my Mother's face....she actually expected me to go to the restroom (where there was no seating, just stalls) ...so I said to her, "Well, I'll go if you bring YOUR dinner and eat in there with your grandson". Well, let's just say, that shut her up! I was so discreet about breastfeeding, my Grandfather had NO idea what I was even doing! :rotfl:
Granted, there are some who are NOT so discreet, and ruin it for those who ARE...... but just like other subjects, it's a "hot" topic..... I am pro-breastfeeding...public, private, whatever...but I am also pro-discreet :thumbsup2

Oh, and note to self.....Don't ask for ice in my drink at Jodie's....never know whatcha might get? :scared:

So, at 8 tonight...POC is on USA....might watch it...been awhile since I've seen the first one.....don't think I've seen the 3rd yet...and the 2nd, well, I'm not really sure about the second? :confused3

Off to find some troubles.....

Hope everyone is enjoying their Saturday night :goodvibes

if you need a chuckle, enjoy this.

I will be the first to admit I am not the brightest bulb on the white house holiday tree. last year, DH was traveling over the time change weekend. i dutifully changed the clocks and went to bed ......

then i found out the next horribly early morning i put them the wrong way:headache:

:lmao: awww..that's a shame....really...it's the thought that counts!

remember: FALL BACK, SPRING AHEAD :thumbsup2

BACK tonite Penny....extra hour sleep :woohoo:

It's cold and rainy tonight here in Maine.
Expecting flooding along the coast and high winds. I've turned the heat up to warm up the house in case we lose the power. A nice hot shower will be next, cause no power means no water.:sad2:

Not much going on tonight. The boys have gone to watch our local Pro hockey team play. DD is out with friends.

So I was strolling thru the internet looking for some handle wraps for the suitcases. Our luggage is black and I am getting bored with the ribbon I tied on to them. The ones I found were more money than I think their worth, so seeing as I was bored, I made a couple with leftover fabric and velcro.

I think they came out pretty good. Took me all of 20 minutes to make two. I might make up a bunch for the church fair next weekend.

Guess I'll go walk on the treadmill for awhile. See ya all later.

Sharon:thumbsup2 i bought lime green ones (polyester) @ Kmart several years ago, your's look way nicer!

barb - our treadmill's in LR (i've been on it less than 5 X since July:rolleyes1 ); free weights/bench in garage...makes for a quicker workout in the winter since it's not heated. No google - yahoo! Surprisingly, the ham was excellent; just had to cut off this thick layer of fat, then slice it down & lightly give it the brown in the frying pan...family said it was excellent. Now, i just need to freeze individual pkgs for breakfasts & i'm all set. Spent evening being obsessive as to exactly where i wanted new pics hung on the walls in LR:confused: , we now have a few huge holes in the plaster that is patched & drying while i type...think i'll go take a long bath & hide from hubby and to think there are only 3 more walls to rethink before the paint job lol.

we don't get around to changing the clocks 'till the next day, if not later for some of them.

jodie - hmm, any dolls with needles in thempopcorn:: :lmao: ; whatever works! As for breastfeeding, i was always way too shy to whip the girls out in public/older DSs would've died of embarassment. Even @ home i went into another room, found a lightweight receiving blanket to shield myself or announced to all it was feeding time and turn my rocker toward the corner:confused3 . JMHO, it's all a matter of courtesy...the idea of not making other people (or yourself) uncomfortable if you can avoid it. Always wondered why anyone would care to nurse a child while sitting in the hot sun on an amusement park bench anyway? Why not try & find an AC fast food place & relax a spell; certainly more comfy & private?

almost forgot, ND lost badly in OT to Navy(:

I'M GOING TO WRESTLEMANIA!!!!!

My seats are crap, but IDGAF. I'm going! :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:

Feb/Mar/Apr(?) should be Good Months for me.

Isit2008yet?

Mornin all :wave2: No extra hour of sleep for me....just extra hour in the day :teeth:

Sharon....I think you may have stumbled across a little "side" job :rolleyes1 They look great...and VERY distinctive. Anything NOT mass produced will be great for suitcase identification :thumbsup2 You should think about craft shows or selling on ebay :scratchin ....seriously!

Janet....glad to hear the ham was delish! See...you wuz worried for nuthin :confused3 We used to have the weight bench in the garage, but I refused to use it out there....BORING! Since it is now in the family room, and I can watch tv while riding it, it gets used almost everyday. (Time flies when you're watchin a good show!) We had a treadmill, but I hated the treadmill :crazy2: , so gots a bike instead :thumbsup2

DM....Wrestlemania isn't my "thing", but I'm happy for you to go. I hope you have a great time and your seats aren't toooooo bad  Who are you going with?? Anyone fun? (and no, it's not 2008 yet....we haveta get thru Turkey Day & Christmas first....remember???)

Well, lots to do today before late afternoon dinner with friends....

Catch ya's later....

Oh, geez. Just read the story on CNN and it doesn't give much detail. No matter what, you've got the Canadian being mistreated by the puritanical Americans angle. I'm sure the Lactation Nazis (as I deemed them through my bottle-feeding years) will come out of the woodwork and scream that this is just the kind of thing that will put some future mother off breast feeding and the poor child will probably die of some disease because it didn't get the immune boost from momma juice.

Sigh.

For me, personally, breast feed wherever you want. Whip the girls out and let 'em drink. It's not like you are putting on a strip show. If someone is uncomfortable with the concept of breast feeding, they are going to still be uncomfortable if they see a mother with a blanket thrown over her shoulder and baby feet sticking out the bottom because they will know "just what's going on under there". They can't say anything then, but I can guarantee you that they will mentally cringe and shy away from it. It's not the exposure, it is the act that makes most uncomfortable because it involves a grown woman's breast. Whatever.

I put myself through hell trying to breast feed Joshua. I had my breasts examined so many times that I joked with my doctor that he should be stuffing dollar bills in my underwear. It was an emotionally wrenching time. I felt I had failed at my first and primary job as a mother. I couldn't feed my baby from my own body and EVERYONE was beating it into my head that I HAD to breast feed. Don't you know that breast milk is best? Don't you know about all the wonderful things it provides your child for his lifetime?

Yeah, I get it. Talk to my breasts. They don't seem to be listening.

It took a long time for me to get over that and it made the first months with my first baby less than pleasant. Everytime I got "the look" when I pulled out a bottle, it made me guilty all over again. Chalk it up to the insecurities of first time motherhood, but I got over it eventually.

When we decided to have a second child, I decided before we even got pregnant that I wasn't going through that again. I've read all the studies, I know all the facts, but for me and mine bottle feeding was going to have to do. I was not going to put me and my baby through that again. Yes, I know that breast feeding can work with a second baby even when it didn't with the first. I don't give a rat's hairy hind quarters. The emotional strain and worry... the stress... I made the best decision for my family and nobody can tell me different.

You wouldn't believe the crap that got dumped on me by the doctors, nurses, even total strangers, for daring to CHOOSE to bottle feed. Obviously, I just needed more "education". Obviously, I just needed things "explained". Obviously, I was just "lazy" and didn't want to put my babies needs ahead of my own.

Bite me.

Yep. Still a sore spot after two years. :headache: :rolleyes1

No, the seats are bad--they're in the upper bowl, but those were the only ones available. I'm going with one of my long time friends.

Good Sunday Morning All!!!

About the time change - my how technology has changed. I used to set at least a couple clock before I went to bed years ago. Now, so many of the clocks set themselves. My alarm and bedroom dvd player sets itself - only problem was it reset last week. So I only rest the alarm for the week. So this morning - the dvd player is correct and the alarm is not.:confused3

Thankfully, with the TV and DVD recorder - it is always correct. Anyhoo - I think its about 10am now.

With the extra hour - I used it to sleep and lounge around this morning. We are going to go to church today. We have been lazy for the last 3-4 months.
I used Sunday mornings to go to office and catchup. And husband didn't go to church without me. (On a side note, his dear mom passed away in early July - so I think he wasn't all that keen with going to church. I reacted the same way when my dad died several years ago.) Anyhoo, we are using today to get back into the habit.

Oh and DM - that is great about Wrestlemania - I don't know how old you are, but I remember the first Wrestlemania in 80's with Hulk, Captain Lou and Cindy Lauper, and Roddy Piper. We never attended in person, but my brother and I watched alot in the 80's.

Have a great day.:)

-Jennifer-

Jennifer....we had the "time change" thing last week too :lmao: Our vcr in bedroom had one time, the clocks another...poor DH woke up so confused :rotfl: All fixed now tho :thumbsup2 I am enjoying this extra hour today....feels later than it really is! :goodvibes

DM....sometimes it's the "company" at events that make it so great...not as much as what you're there to see! I'm sure they'll have a jumbotron and you'll have a great time....seats in the "boonies" is better than "no seats" at all!

Tricia...I hear ya about the b-feeding thing.... My "thing" is that you tried. I have a friend who is a work-a-holic and did not even try! Decided before her daughter was even born she was bottlefeeding :sad2: I think every child deserves the 'chance' to try...if you can't, you can't, some women can't and it's okay....honestly....but at least you can be proud and say you 'tried' ;) And as for the second time around, I think you made the right decision to not even put yourself thru that stress ... if you're stressed, forget it, it won't happen. Already knowing your body won't do it, you eliminated a lot of stresss on you and your other boys and did what was best for your son....:thumbsup2 And THAT my dear Mommie friend, is what counts! :thumbsup2

Oh, and good luck with the pictures today....fun fun!!! I'm sure they'll turn out great!!

Okay...haveta cover the patio furniture.....catch ya later....

I wish I was having a good day but not cause the gas stuck on my car and almost ran throgh my house and now not only will my insurance have to pay to fix the house but to fix my car its gonna cost me 1000.00 for my deductable so our uso trip may be canceled this year.:sad2:

jelly, i am so sorry to hear that.
1K is a bite to have to come up with.

maybe something can be worked out so you can still do the trip...
wishing you mummy dust and lots of it.

hopefully it was only the house and car that got hurt, and you were safe.

Does pee freeze at the same temperature as water? :confused3

Our dog doesn't understand about Daylight Savings and neither do the cows.

Joshua came out with a funny this morning. We were explaning the whole "set the clocks" back thing and telling him that now it won't be dark when he goes to school in the morning. He thought about it for a minute and then said, "Who tells God about the different times?"

I can't even imagine how frighetening that must have been!

Oh, and good luck with the pictures today....fun fun!!! I'm sure they'll turn out great!!

Daniel was NOT in the mood for a photo session today, but we managed to get a decent family shot and one of the two boys. The poor photographer had to work for it. Our pics will be back in 2 weeks, so I'll share then. I don't think they'll be as pretty as last years, but it'll do.

:scared: sorry to hear that....glad you are all okay though.....hopefully insurance will take care of most of it and leave your vacation funds alone....after all, isn't that what insurance is for :confused3

Okay, first, I am NOT finding out about pee freezing....I will leave THAT little experiment up to someone else :rolleyes1

Gotta love that little boy and his thoughts....:rotfl: Who would ever think to come up with informing God of the time change??? :confused3 Glad to hear you think your pix came out good....I look forward to seeing them! And, sometimes you have "one of those days" and it's a little more challenging than you'd like it to be....but, like you said, Christmas picture is not negotiable! ;)

By the way, how's Carol doing with this round? Hopefully not as bad as the first

Got a lot done around here today with my extra hour :goodvibes Had a nice dinner with friends...went to The Works ( www.gearedforfun.com ) The games are always a hit.....Bubba bowled for the first time tonite (not "conventional" bowling balls, more like oversized softballs that were kinda heavy for kids, so, I didn't expect him to do well)... but he scored a 44 :rolleyes1 Not bad...especially since he tears up on 'bubble hockey' and airhockey..... kicked my butt :headache:

So off to make DH's lunch for tomorrow and prepare to workout to Desperate Housewives

Oh, and forgot to mention.... in the mail yesterday, got notice that I'm getting DOUBLE rewards on Disney Visa for the months of October, November & December  (nice of 'em to let me know about OCTOBER in November  ) So, another 3 months of earning double rewards :woohoo: (for those who don't know, those reward dollars are going to pay for almost all of Bubba's portion of the cruise :thumbsup2 )

Okay....gots to go....hope everyone enjoyed their extra hour today and has a good night.....

Catch ya's tomorrow :thumbsup2

Hey everyone! Haven't been around this weekend because life has been BUSY!!!

But Tues. is election day and no kids are in school! :woohoo:

Well I would love to address everyone individually, but way too pooped!

If anyone wants to give me rundown of this weekend's news, I wouldn't mind.....;)

Hey Katie....you didn't miss much...pretty quiet weekend actually.....
