the one and only family pic and have no idea where it is now.

we never have done yearly, christmas type of pictures.

i never knew families really did that.
but now i know.

That's a shame macraven.....while growing up, we never did it either....Soooo, learning from my mother's *ahem* "mistakes", I've made it a point to get one of the 3 of us at least every other year or two..... It's a good thing to have and I'm glad we've done it.... You should try to convince everyone to do it....say something like, "Ya know what I'd really like for [insert holiday/occasion here]..... A family portrait...everyone.... and smiling! :scratchin ....wonder how that'd go over

.....The result, a rather uncomplimentary large 10 X 13 still proudly displayed in DR, they all hate it i'm leaving it up forever just to make my point.

:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: You go girl! :thumbsup2

Well....off to bed....leaving at 10am tomorrow....playing undefeated team....wish us luck :bitelip:

Nite!!!

Good Morning All:)

Barb - Yes, I loved the Survivor. James and Todd are my favorites this year. I so wanted Jaime out since she deliberately threw that one challenge.

The solution to the left over candy - give it all away. We gave my son's friend and our nephew (15) a nice paper sack full of the candy after TorT hours. Only problem was - now I don't have any to eat. Oh wel, better for the diet.

Jodie - Those pics cracked me up. I liked the 80's look though.

We got one family Christmas picture when son was 2. I always wanted a nice Christmas picture to send with Christmas cards. The only problem was, -you had to plan so early to have the pics back in time to send cards. I haven't even sent cards the last 4-5 years.

Our church does the pictorial directory about every 2-years. So we use this for our family picture.

My weekend:
Massage:banana:   this morning - to help destress from the work week.

Then hubby wants me to help move furniture, clean closets, etc. We are redoing our living room. New carpet should be in later this week - so he wants to get room ready so he and his dad can take up the old carpet first.

Will probably try and get some work done at the office this weekend as well.

Have a nice weekend everyone.

-Jennifer-

Good Luck Bubba!

Sounds like a fun weekend Jennifer. To bad you can't move the furniture around then get the massage. :upsidedow

Yes, I agree! Move furniture, then massage. Or massage, then move furniture, then hubby gives you another massage.

My sister sent me an email with a 1977 JCPenney catalog. It had us both cracking up, and that is what gave me the idea of the matching/coordinating outfits. I still think you should go retro, Tricia!

Good luck to Bubba!

Mac, we stopped doing family pictures a loooong time ago in my family, too. Maybe when I was in the 5th grade? Yea Gads, was 5th grade an ugly year for me. And I do mean U-G-L-Y I ain't had no alibi! whoa nelly.

Janet, have fun decorating! I can't wait to see your house for Christmas after the Halloween pics!

I am off to Curves. smell ya's later!

I third that....if you get the massage first, you're going to be sore, tired and stressed from moving :headache: ...then again...a "hubby" massage :scratchin could make it all worth it :rolleyes1

Off to game.....l8rs....

Oooops! Almost forgot.....

CONGRATS TO JODIE ON HITTING 3000 POSTS!!!!

OMG! I didn't even notice! I was not expecting this award at all! I don't even have anything prepared .... let's see. I would like to thank my parents for birthing me! I thank God, Pete Werner for creating the DIS, the moderators, my friends on the Universal Board for actually giving me something to talk about, and most importantly, my husband who is only half teasing when he calls himself a "DIS Widower." Thank you! What an honor; I will cherish it always! Oh, and FREE TIBET!

Oh, and speaking of how tall the kids are...here's me & Bubba on our way out the door for class tonite.....

(Yes, only going to be 9 in January :sad2: ....got the "talls" from me  )

RyandMomSmall.jpg

He got the "talls" AND the "adorables" from you! :)

drive to dad's
spend rest of the weekend packing up step monster's crap.

I agree with Barb. Maybe step-monster's crap could meet with a horrible accident? Maybe you could accidentally pack raw shrimp in the box with some of her stuff? Maybe, ooops, a bottle of wine or perfume could break in an area where some of her clothing is?

Just a thought... accidents happen... :confused3

what.......no sex this weekend?

That sounds like the title of a new sitcom.

Hope everyone has a great weekend.

no presents wrapped (sigh); maybe tomorrow i box up the decorations (after i wash the outside of the windows - many are stationary by design:mad: so it's up on the ladder-bleech. Doing my twice a year spit polish of house for holidays (only i skipped the Spring one:guilty: ). Used to own a cleaning company, had to "fill in" when the girls called off sick...very little I hate more than heavy cleaning. I shall try not to bore you to tears over the next 3 weeks.

I've always thought the idea of Spring and Fall cleaning is a good one. I've never actually done it, mind you, but the idea of it is good.

but now i know.

If you don't take a family Christmas picture, what do you send along with your incredibly boring Christmas newsletter full of TMI medical news, bragging on your childrens' minor accomplishments, vacation stories that nobody else cares about, and generally indicating that your life is perfect???(Kidding... really... )

Well....off to bed....leaving at 10am tomorrow....playing undefeated team....wish us luck :bitelip:

GOOD LUCK BUBBA!!! :cheer2:

Redoing a room? New carpet? What's that like? popcorn::

Maybe in a few years when I stop wiping up the juice, milk, and don't-ask-what-was-blue-and-sticky off my carpet... :rolleyes1

And where did Bunghole come up with a 1977 JC Penney catalog?

Retro... hmmm... well, the photo WOULD be memorable...

I am fierce about sending out Christmas cards. There are too many people that I would have lost touch with over the years if not for the yearly card exchange. I know that some people have decided it's too expensive or too much effort, but for me, the contact is completely worth it. I also have some of my friends (well, only two... and they are more aquaintences at this point...) that have gone to the email Christmas card/letter thing. That may be the wave of the future, but for me, I love to open my mailbox and get all the brightly colored envelopes out and hold the cards in my hand and show the pictures to Brad. An email? It's not the same. Click, click... oh, how, impersonal... and nobody ever sees it but me. Brad's not going to sit down at the computer and look at a Christmas message.

The family picture is my once-a-year-don't-mess-with-it-ritual. I don't care what our financial position is, somebody always has coupons, and if I have to move heaven and earth, by all that is holy we WILL have a family picture made once a year. So there. If not, I wouldn't be able to look back at last years...

Okay....reminds me of the story (or was it a joke?) eh, who cares....anyway, a couple was getting divorced and she said he could have the house (to live in with his new, YOUNGER wife). Surprisingly, he gave her a generous settlement in exchange for her generosity (and not fighting him in court). So he leaves her alone a day (or was it a weekend?) and she packs all her stuff and moves out. The ex-husband and new wife move in and then it starts. After a week or so, they notice a "smell". So, they shampooed and vacuumed all the carpets. Washed everything down. Nothing. Still smells. Determined the smell is in the rugs, they rip all the rugs up and replace them all. Still, the smell remains. Finally, they can't take the smell any longer, and put the house up for sale. Well, when people would come to look at the house, they couldn't take the smell, and would leave. Desperate, the husband agrees to sell (? or was it give?) the house to the ex. She happily moved in and loved living there. The smell you may wonder??? Well, when she was packing her stuff, she went around and put frozen shrimp/fish IN all the curtain rods :lmao: ...apparently worked like a charm! Sorry some of the story was questionable, but it's been awhile since remembering it.

Okay....so I HAVETA ask ;)

Good for you :thumbsup2 I agree...it's time consuming, expensive, but you just have to do it. (Altho, I will admit, I've gotten away from writing cards and just getting a photo card printed up)...I would never do the "email" thing.... And, by the way...last year's picture is just gorgeous!!! :goodvibes

aww crap...forgot to mention....we scored the first goal...the other team scored the next 4 :sad2: Oh well....given they were rained out last Saturday's game, only had 5 guys at Monday's practice and no practice Wed. (cuz of Halloween), they looked pretty good.... guess we'll hear about it Monday at practice :rolleyes1 .....in the WARMTH :woohoo: (yeah baby!)

10.gif

we have made it to the halfway mark of the season!:goodvibes
4 teams are off including Chicago and the NY Giants
San Fran @ Atlanta....come on Falcons!

Green Bay at KC....this will be a good game...can Farve's arm keep the pack above the chiefs? this will be a hard fought contest...could go either way :cool1:

Houston at Oakland-either could win, neither appears to be headed for post season with 3-5 and 2-5 records:confused3

6-1 Dallas at Philly(3-4) on Sunday night-Philly is at home, but Dallas just signed Romo to a 6 year contract, will they beat the Eagles? stay tuned! :hourglass

the Monday nite game features 4-3 Baltimore at 5-2 Pitt
I say the steel force will can them! :lmao:

AND the marquee matchup of the day goes to...........
drumroll please.................:cheer2: :cheer2:

UNDEFEATED NEW ENGLAND against UNDEFEATED INDY
:woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: yes- they are playing at the colts stadium at 415 pm. But you got to admit, Tom Brady and Company are pretty good....

this is waaaaaay too close....really, either could win....:cool2:
what do you predict for this game?

Penny - Tomorrow is family photo day. That supercedes all sporting events. I will start crying again over football next week. :sad1:

Furniture Update:

I've moved exactly 0 pieces so far. In fact, I spent the last 1.5 hours on the couch - lounging/napping.:cool1:

When I returned home this morning, DH says Best Buy called and our computer was ready. The same computer we left with them on August 26 to be fixed!!!! We got home about noon - and DH is hooking everything up and installing the internet, virus, etc. And - it is still having problems. So he has been on the phone all afternoon and is not happy!!! (Oh did I mention, they had to put the hard drive back the way it was 2 years ago when we bought the computer. This means we have to reinstall all programs AGAIN. Also, we lost everything (music, pictures, worksheets). I think we are OK with the pics as I backed these up and the recent pics are still on the camera's memory stick.) DH has been VERY VERY VERY UNHAPPY!!!!

Anyhoo-I got extra sleeping time.

I also think DH is trying to get his dad to wait until next week as DH has Monday the 12th off. So - we may not need to do anything until next Friday and Saturday.

Tricia - adorable family. I stopped sending Christmas cards years back, but last year started sending again. I think I will send more this year. You do lose touch with people without the cards.

jennifer - thought i was busy today, you win:thumbsup2

mac - never too late to take that pic!

barb - curves? you are already sleek:confused:

jodie - :woohoo: it's the 'lil things in life that are important

penny - another cool icon, put in a good word for Notre Dame, i'm sickof the abuse rooting for them:rolleyes1

lori - so is the merry divorcee finally out of your dad's picture?

elmer - make sure the boys don't get any scratches, etc. by tomorrow - nice & purty~! One of the best family portraits i've seen:cool1:

cooking my 1st country ham:eek: seemed like a good idea @ the time, got a shipment in @ SAMS. Came in a cloth bag, thank God the mold was already brushed off of it & it was cleaned...i had no idea it was "raw"...has been on a low boil for hours (in biggest roaster i had with a water & brown sugar blend). Appears as though i'll need a chain saw to cut thru the rind? Anyone have any words of wisdom? It's intimidating me; looks rather creepy there on the stove everytime i pass thru.

THREADERS!
i WENT ON TO THE us PAGE OF cnn.COM AND DOWN THE LEFT SIDE IS NEWS FOR REGIONAL AREAS, AND UNDER SOUTH OR SOUTHEAST IS A STORY ABOUT SOME WOMAN SUPPOSEDLY GETTING TOSSED OUTA UNIVERSAL FOR BREAST FEEDING....

Seen that too and what it was she was sitting on a bench at universal and was breast feeding and an employee told her if she didn't cover up she would have to leave and she told them to get security and while they were at it they could call thier lawyers .
all I can say is that someone probably seen her doing this and complained but she makes it like it was the employees picking on her and be curtious about and cover up or take it somewhere people won't see.:scared1:
