Hi Lori! You've been missed! Don't fret too much about catching up, but it can be fun sometimes. ;)

Marcie - If the "friend" keeps using her child to try to force you into free babysitting, I wouldn't lose ANY sleep over it. It is a shame that she is putting her children in that position. :sad2:

Barb - You working today? I can't get the schedule straight.

It is still raining here off and on. As long as it gets it out of the way before the weekend. If the race gets rained out, we are SCREWED because we can't stick around on Monday.
So, fingers crossed I don't get sick. Fingers crossed nobody else in my house gets sick. Fingers crossed the weather cooperates.
We don't have that many fingers, do we? :rolleyes1

Goodness! Sounds like the sickies are going all around! Hope everyone is feeling better soon.

Penny, I would tend to agree with you in what you think about CSI. Though, have to say that I think I'm losing interest in CSI, which disappoints me cuz I used to love it. Since The Office was doing hour long episodes against CSI, that was what got my time. Anyone else Office fans?

Marcie, clearly that woman is out of line. No doubt. Had she even offered to pay, I might have been a little more sympathetic, but clearly she is one who doesn't appreciate the kindnesses of others, but expects them. Besides, would you have had time to get her daughter a matching shirt?! :goodvibes

Lori, welcome back! Don't worry about catching up! I always feel like I'm a fighting a losing battle trying to keep up, and then I feel worse for not responding individually or appearing aloof or selfish .... How are you?!

Rose, I meant to tell you that the wedding pics were gorgeous. Loved the cake! Did you get to have a piece? How was it? It look delish!

Barb, I know you want to tell us about the toaster! Anniversary gift? Sweetest Day gift? Just because gift? I screwed up gift? Your old one broke and he only got you a toaster, not a toaster oven like you told him to?

Tracie, I'm glad you are enjoying my report! I just realized that I don't have pics for the next day's report, so I'm going to have to be creative. I hate having to do that. I hope Mike feels better. There is nothing worse than getting sick on vacation, and you'll hear all about that if you have the patience to stick with my trippie.

Hope everyone has a great day!

I can only see the Happy in Barbs signature.

I can only see half of the smilies for the DSs in Marcies signature.

I can only see half of the bottom picture in Janets signature.

Maybe it's just me and my settings? I dunno. :confused3

I dunno...maybe it is you....I can see everyone's everything.... come to think of it, I don't think I know how to adjust settings? :confused3

Tracie - Thanks for the crossed fingers and SO FAR (knock wood) the Zicam is keeping it to a minimum sore throat and no sinus stuff at all. I picked up the Emergen-C that somebody suggested, so I'll start that today too. I had to read all over it to make sure there wasn't any iron in it. With me on prescription iron supplements, I have to make sure I don't OD on it.

DH sucks on those Zinc things when he feels a cold/sore throat comin' on....they seem to work for him...but, then again, you have all the advice you need already  Oh, and this is for you Tricia (and all the other "not feelin' well" homies):

Yep...lite, easy day at the salon....well, of course, since I'm here! :rotfl:

:guilty: and ::yes:: :thumbsup2

everyday is sweetest day in my house:rolleyes1 :cutie:

barb - i'm rebeling with 1/2 a nanner in my sig, and i just wanted to look @ the proposed CRV for awhile, think of it as a carrot to make me start saving money instead of frittering it all away...

marci - will check out the dirty bananas (name of rum-based drink as i recall?). Just thought of this one, call me old fashioned & nothing against your great chaperoning powers...why would a mother want her daughter to sleep in a room with a bunch of tween/teenage boys.:confused3 Whenever we drag along one on DSs friends, i sleep in a sweatsuit. then they tease me all the next day because i snore - alot & loud.

tracie - poor baby, make her chicken soup:wizard: . My kids could never take the liquid stuff either, it always came back up...lovely red tint. Hope she feels better soon.

As for MRSA; several schools in our area have it. It's been around for many years; acquire typically thru a cut or nose, etc. Very commonly found in locker-rooms & passed via contact sports (football especially). They are cautioning frequent hand washing & that kids bring home their gym clothes on a regular basis for a nice hot wash.

middle DS, at least 6 years ago-before they started routinely testing for MRSA; had a scary incident. Always beat up as center playing football. Had a particularly nasty open cut from someone's spike. We cleaned it out & did betadyne, etc. By the next morning it was every color of the rainbow, hot & swollen & he had a fever. took him immediately to children's hospital; several rounds of IV antibiotics & long-term redose of pills before it disappeared. They had thought it might have been cellulitus or flesh eating bacteria:scared1: ; turned out to just be a very nasty infection. I often wonder if it might have been MRSA; since they didn't test for it. Same kiddo also had meningitus, multiple concussions during football (including one where he was paralyzed from chest down for several hours), hit & run from behind by a person who I hope rots in hell while on his bike, passenger in a car that flipped (got phone call he was life flighted from local cop-wasn't; just an ambulance-so scary), struck with lightening...would like to think he's the luckiest kid alive.:thumbsup2 now he's a policeman:wizard: better buy him a St. Michael's medal - pronto.

I know you like the nanners, but was wonderin' why he didn't have a bottom half :lmao:

WOW! What a lot for your son to go thru...but, it's true...just one scratch...ya never know where, what scratched you, has been :rolleyes1 better safe than sorry!

Okay I am going to take Jodie's advice and just start from here.

Jodie - I am doing great. How are you feeling? Hope you are all better now.

Barb - How are things in your world?

Tracie - I hope Kbean feels better soon. I agree that you should take Courtney to the doc asap. Don't want to mess with something that could possibly be MSRA. Make Frank wear a mask so he doesn't get sick too! What a handful that would be. Still hoping you get a dance video soon!!!!

Tricia - How is Carol doing? When is her next treatment going to start? Remember to stay positive. You're both in my thoughts & prayers daily.

Marcie - Wow! That mom sounds like a piece of work. She wanted her daugther to spend the night with your boys?????

Allison - Where are you?

Sharon - Hope all is well with your MIL.

Gemma - Are you staying safe?

Katie - Good luck on your upcoming meets.

DM & Todd - How is life in Florida? Wish I was there.

Rose - How is the family?

Akdar - Lovin the trippie. Hope you are having a great time!

To all our newbies and those of you who aren't around so much - Hope you all come around more often.

Hope I didn't leave anyone out. Except Janet, I have a big post for you coming up!

Janet - Is your middle DS & my oldest DS (Christopher) the same person?

Christopher was an accident waiting to happen. It all started when he was just under 2. His first accident was with the footed pajamas and a tile floor. He stepped into a little plastic basket on the tile and it slipt out from under him. He feel mouth first into the tile and knocked out his two top front teeth.

Next was a toilet accident. He was probably about three or four and had gone to pee. We had an older style toilet lid, you know the old wooden ones, and the knobs on the bottom of it had worn down. Well as he was standing there doing his business the lid fell and smashed his little you know what.

As the years went on he went through barbed wire fences & flipped over brick mail boxes while riding his bike. He was attacked by a chow and had to have many sitches in his mouth.

Then we started football. His first injury really wasn't football related but happened during football season for our big rivalry game, 8th grade. He was at church for youth group on Wednesday night and after it ended he ran up to high five one of the guys that was leaving. Well for some reason this guy (the passenger) pulled him in to the truck window. When the driver saw him he panicked and hit the brakes, the other kid let go of Chris and his legs fell under the truck. So both ankles get ran over, we get a call from the church and have to take him to the emergency room. Unbelievably nothing was broke and he was only on crutches to keep the weight off of them for a couple of days. Missed Thursdays football game with said rival.

9th grade comes around, same rivalry game, second play of the game Chris dives for the ball carrier and dislocates his shoulder. One of the coaches stands there forever trying to push his shoulder back in. Only problem was that his shoulder had gone out backwards and the coach was only making it worse. Surgery #1.

10th grade, all the boys are saying if Chris gets hurt for this game they are going after someone! Well he made it through that game but a couple of games later someone landed on him and his shoulder came out again. Come to find out the first doctor didn't fix it right so we go to another doctor adn have surgery #2.

11th grade, 1st quarter of the big rivalry game Chris gets knocked out in the end zone. He plays the rest of the first half, goes out on the field for the second half and on the first play stands up and lets his guy go straight through to our QB, who then gets smeared into the ground. Chris obviously had no idea where he was. Well the original doctor & PA from his office were at the game and watched him through the entire third quarter. They then came and told me they felt he was faking and never checked on him again. After the game was over I had to go walk him off the field. He still had no idea what was going on. As we walked he just kept getting worse, he had no idea who his little sister was (and he adores her). So we have another PA from same office look at him & he wants to know why he is still at the field. Our head coach had a doctor friend there & had him come in to check on Chris. He went balistic. They called for the ambulance to come back & we went coded to the emergency room. By the time we got there his blood sugar had dropped to 50, it started out at 84. They were running tests & had him on IV's and all of a sudden he just snapped out of it.

Same season, a few games later he dislocated his other shoulder & elbow. So now we have surgery #3!!! The next season he had an argument with his coach and quit. By the time he decided he couldn't not play it was too late. The coach wouldn't play him no matter how bad he needed him. On the bright side we didn't have any more injuries!

The past few years had been pretty good with no real injuries. In January however he slipt on the ice and when he grabbed to catch himself he dislocated his shoulder again. And now we have shoulder surgery #4!!!!

See, I think they may be the same kid!:rotfl:

Okay, I checked it out at work and couldn't even see all of the "Happy". I'm pretty sure it has to do with screen size. I don't think it's really "adjusting settings" (unless you set yours to not view signatures at all), but the available space on your screen. I did find that if I completely removed my favorites from the left size, then I could see Barb's bottom line, but not otherwise. On a smaller screen (or if I pull my favorites over and make more of the words visible), it crunches the signature and you can only see part of the Happy, none of the Halloween or anything below it. I didn't realize until now that some folks (Tricia) might not be seeing all of my siggie too!

Janet/Lori - sounds like we just want to stay away from your sons! Janet - I'm not sure if he's the luckiest or UNluckiest! Although I think Lori, your son's sound a bit more "injury" related - I can see how they could happen. Janet's son's sound more "being in the wrong place" related, so I think I'd steer more clear of her DS!

Not good either way! Guess we've just been really lucky in that with 3 boys, so far only one emergency trip visit. That was when oldest DS was 7 and running around the house, stepped on his own sock and slammed into a corner of a wall and sliced his head open. But (knock on wood!), that's been it. We did a lot of emergency-type visits to the ped with youngest son when he was a baby because of his asthma, but never had to go to the emergency room itself, and they quickly got us the nebulizer so we didn't have to even do that anymore!

To answer the various people, we're not spending the night at 6 Flags, but plan to leave around 6:30 in the morning - hence the kids coming over the night before (sure the parents appreciate that!). Did I mention that now there's a SIXTY percent chance of rain? I told you it'll get to 100 percent before we go! So, I guess she was thinking her daughter could sleep down on the sofa or whatever - it wouldn't be in the same room as the boys (although I wouldn't have a spare "bed", she could sleep on a sofa or air mattress somewhere). And in reference to the babysitting, DS just told me today that she turned 13 a couple weeks ago. Isn't that old enough to stay home alone? :confused3 I mean assuming at least that it's not overnight? My impression last Saturday was that her folks would be out late and didn't want her home alone and this Saturday they'd be coming home late, but we'll be back by 8pm or so so her brother would be back then. I was babysitting quite a bit, by myself, with young kids, later than that when I was 13!

ETA: Jodie, if you think there's even a miniscule chance that DS15 would wear a matching shirt when his GF is coming along, um, no way! I don't think either DS would even consider it, since there'd always be a very slight chance of someone they knew seeing them if we were nearby here. Disney's different and they knew that wasn't up for debate! Considering the forecast (40's and rain), we'll be all bundled up anyways!

Oh, wait, and here's a good story for you guys! DH will be out in Denver next week again (Mon-Wed) for business. DH conveniently insists that he “didn’t know” that the Packers/Broncos game was going on next Monday out there when he made his travel reservations, but now since he’ll “just happen to be there”, he might as well try to go see the game. :rolleyes1 Yeah, and if you believe that, I have some prime real estate...!

It’s also game 5 (if needed) of the World Series, so he’s hoping some folks who have Broncos tickets get Series tickets instead and make it easier for him to get the football ones! Don't trust your husband when he suddenly has to fly somewhere for "business", especially if it's to a location his home team is playing in during that time. Just coincidentally, of course. :rolleyes2

lori :lmao: separated @ birth? everyone has a twin somewhere? owwie for your DS, lots of bad breaks (no pun intended). I'm just so glad DS's had no incidents since he was 17...perhaps he grew out of it? I forgot the time his older brother dislocated his shoulder when he "clotheslined" him while they were wrestling @ their dad's house.:rolleyes1 Oldest DS got a compound fracture during football game:scared1: ; surgery #1 & #2 to take out the pins; growth plate - still has a divit in wrist. Youngest DS developed fielberg's disease in foot growth plate after a fx didn't heal in foot...took over 2 years to regenerate; appears as though no long term effects.:confused3 i'm very clumsy, perhaps it's genetic?

marci - gotcha:thumbsup2 believe it or not boy-girl sleepovers are en vogue in our area:sad2: what r people thinking? Still cannot believe the parents had the nerve to outright ask you to babysit. Doesn't the girl have a friend's house she can visit if it's an issue...weird.

think we'll watch the Transformers DVD i picked up, such great special effects...decepticons or autobots;)

Hey everyone, sorry I havn't been posting. Im at home now and ita mega busy- family crisis' happenin all over the place!!

Im shopping for my halloween costume online now- how late have I left it!! Can't wait to get back to Liverpool!!

Is MRSA the superbug? We have it in loads of hospitals in the UK!! Am I thinking of the same thing?? Sorry, Im blonde!!

I hope everyone is well and Im sorry I havnt been following the thread.x

One thing I was kind of waiting for during the conversation yesterday was for her mom to offer to pay for it.
Marci - are you kidding??? She wanted you to take the kid that wasn't invited and PAY for her???? There were four of us kids in my family, and often one sibling was invited to something the others weren't. Silly us, we just stayed home, we never thought to call up and invite ourselves.:lmao:

All 3 of mine could easily swallow pills by ages 3-4
Wow, you are lucky. Mine will be 13 in February, and I had to get liquid last week when he was sick. My brother is 40 and still can't swallow pills.

one of the guys DH works with carries papers to indicate he is sane
As do I:rotfl2:

Jennifer (I think that's your name - Jaws? I'm trying to remember all of them!). Yeah, when I called originally to invite her son, she did ask if he needed any money and I said not to worry about it. However, since her DD wasn't really a friend of my kids, and she was asking to add her in, I thought she might say something like "it would really help us out if you'd bring her, of course we'll pay for everything for her", but she never did. I contemplated asking, but since I didn't really want DD along, seemed like that would have just been asking for trouble!

It's funny what you say about the pills too. My kids didn't have trouble at all, but I'm noticing now that just in the last year or two that I'm having a whole lot more trouble with it personally. Not as much getting them down, but feeling like they get stuck in my throat. Especially if I ever take a pill right before bedtime, I feel like I can just feel it in my throat sitting there. I also don't like taking the big calcium ones or multivitamins any more because I just feel like I'm gagging!

Gemma - I'd never heard about the MRSA stuff until we got the email a couple days ago too. I'm not sure if it's the same thing you have there, but it is referred to as a superbug here too.

Barb - How are things in your world?

good to see you Lori.... My world is 'toaster-less' :guilty: On another note, I am afraid you have beat Janet's son hands down with the 'injured son' :sad2: Amazing how you made it this far!!! That is a LOT of injuries in a short life-span thus far! Luckily, no ER for Bubba....yet :rolleyes1

Tricia - How is Carol doing? When is her next treatment going to start? Remember to stay positive. You're both in my thoughts & prayers daily.

Yes...we haven't had an update lately...guess 'no' news is 'good news' :confused3

Hey everyone, sorry I havn't been posting. Im at home now and ita mega busy- family crisis' happenin all over the place!!

Im shopping for my halloween costume online now- how late have I left it!! Can't wait to get back to Liverpool!!

Good to see ya Gemma.....shouldn't wait SO long to get yer costume :rolleyes1 ....Hope things calm down at home...when you do return to skool?

Barb - did you update your signature? Now I can see it all, no matter what I do! Tricia - can you see it all now too? Sorry if you can't see all of mine - I can't adjust it any more!

I should have known YOU would be the first with the correct answer...but I have some bad news...We are all out of Rice-A-Roni so no rice for you.

Do you know him from the MK by chance?

Now what is THAT supposed to mean..."you knew I'd be the first..." :snooty: :rolleyes1  Nah, don't know him, but DH is big tv and movie buff...can quote lines in movies like you wouldn't believe....memorized the entire script of some movies.... :rolleyes1 Oh, and don't eat Rice A Roni...so all is good!

Barb - did you update your signature? Now I can see it all, no matter what I do! Tricia - can you see it all now too? Sorry if you can't see all of mine - I can't adjust it any more!

Yes...i changed it up a bit.... I'm not sure if I can see my whole sig OR everyone else can't if it 'automatically cuts it off' :confused3 I have never had trouble viewing all yours you guys....even Janet's 1/2 banana... ;)
