My MIL puts Preparation H under her eyes to get rid of the puffy bag things. Seems to work. It is made to reduce swelling. It doesn't know if you are putting it on your face or your bum, it just shrinks the tissue. I still don't know if I could do it...

I've got a list of things to get done today, but I woke up with a stupid tickle in my throat. NOOOOOOO! Not now! Can't get sick now! Not with a fun weekend finally planned! Murphy couldn't be this cruel!

Loved your cruise pictures. I would love to take a cruise, but DH has no interest. One day I will convince him. Until then, I live vicariously through others. My idea of an ideal vacation would be sitting on that balcony watching the water and reading a good book. I would be the one who could spend 20 hours on the balcony! But the rest of the family, not so much. They just don't understand the lure of the water. All they want to do is ride Fire and Ice : Guess I can't fault them too much for that.

FWIW, we also had a smoking area in our High School. It was also in a courtyard outside the cafeteria. You didn't happen to go to school in New Jersey in the late 70's did you? :

I haven't gone far enough back in the thread to know why you are having some swelling, but I hope it goes away soon! That was a surprise for sure with the Broncos. But we still don't regret giving our tickets away. It was sooo much warmer watching from the comforts of the family room.

Our family doesn't follow baseball very much. However, DH left for work today with instructions that I should try to log on and try my luck at getting tickets. They go on sale this morning and only online. I hate shelling out $1,000 for a baseball game. Now if it was the Superbowl, that would be another story The news this morning said the season ticket holders had a hard time on the servers last night, so I can only guess what a server nightmare it will be today with everybody trying.

Hope your tickle is just dry weather and won't develop into a cold. My kids' swim coach swears by Emergen-C whenever she feels a cold coming on. She and her now ex-husband are fitness gurus since they are both world class athletes. (She has several world records in swimming and Dave is the only guy to have won the Hawaii Ironman triathlon 6 times). We have tried it and it does seem to really help. It might be worth a try.

We had our taping yesterday. Reporter was Dawn Fratangelo. It was quite a bit of fun. Both teams looked great. (We invited the other special needs team in the state to come join us.) We don't have an air date yet. They will let us know as soon as they have everything edited. And I successfully managed to stay away from the cameras (except for when they panned the parents cheering), so nobody will get to see my large backside I will give you a hint. During the performance part, I am sitting directly behind the parents that they interviewed, whose daughter Olivia is in the wheelchair. Kari has a burnt orange sweater on and I have the same Yellow Cheer Central long-sleeved tee ash the majority of the parents.

Janet - nope, no suites here! That's what we loved about the cabins we booked - getting the best value for the lowest possible price! You can really research cruisecritic and find out which balconies/cabins have more room, but are considered "regular" class cabins.

On Royal Caribbean (Voyager), we had cabin 7388. It's a very back, corner cabin, and as a result, has a very extended balcony. I believe the balcony was about 15x20 feet. If you booked the same class balcony on the side of the ship, your balcony could be more like 5x10. Just enough room for 2 small chairs and a table - none of the lounge chairs, or room for the hammock! This was a category E1 - the balconies go D1, D2, E1, then E2 pricewise, so it was the second cheapest balcony you could get. Yes it was still expensive compared to an inside, but probably 1/3 the price of a suite, which would probably still have a smaller balcony. We booked 3 of us in this cabin, and 2 in the inside across the hall. It worked out nicely that the inside cabin ended up having a 3rd bunk in it anyways, so we just put the kids all together.

On Princess, we had cabins C752 and C753 (different cruises), which were also the corner aft cabins - pretty much surrounded by suites. These were category BB - the balconies on Princess go BA through BF, but BE and BF are pretty much just to get you deals - since there are about 2 of each on each ship. If you're willing to book a guarantee, you'll start there and probably be upgraded to BA-BD, since they're like 90 percent of the cabins. So BB wasn't super expensive. The main thing we loved about this location was the privacy. Princess ships are kind of like "steps" on the side. So pretty much wherever your balcony is, people can either look up or down into it. The back of the ship is flush, so we could only see people above or below us if they (and we) were standing right at the very edge of the balcony. I'm not planning on doing nude sunbathing or anything on my balcony, but I also don't like people gawking at me while I'm trying to lie down and relax.

Jennifer - Royal Caribbean especially does a great job of having activities for the kids. If you don't feel comfortable leaving DS home (how old is he?), he'd probably really love the kids program, at least enough to give you and DH time alone. My only concern would be the slightly older age group. We went when the kids were 9, 11, and 12. The 9-11's did all kinds of cool stuff and my 2 boys in that group had a blast. The 12 year old was in a 12-14 group, but they did a lot of activities with the 15-17 group. Now at 15, I think he'd love some of those activities, but then they were just too "teenish" for him (think dancing, bikini scavenger hunts, etc.). We ended up stuck with him the vast majority of the time, while we rarely saw the other two. Assuming your son is 11 or under (or 15 or older!), I think he'd undoubtedly find at least somethings he'd want to do.

I've been pricing state colleges for youngest DS ; they've gone up so much since the oldest graduated 5 years ago..disturbing.

marci - that's a fantastic balcony for a standard I've only priced out DCL, Princess, Carnival & NCL. Think i'll give NCL another look next time. I just like to sneak in a day @ Orlando before a cruise & Miami/Ft Lauderdale are a bit too far of a drive for me; leaving port canaveral & tampa. I had wanted to sail out of New Orleans inorder to visit more mayan/aztec? temples; DH is leery of visiting. I'd think the tourist area is just fine. Travelzoo for the last couple of years has mentioned big discounts on Hawaii sailings/including air in Oct - Dec.; very tempting.

elmer - you've got to wonder who had the idea of slapping that stuff on their face in the 1st place Be well! My youngest DS watched race yesterday, in a fantasy race thing w/buds...could hear him cheering up in his room. believe he roots for Tony Stewart, not having much of a year from what i gather (at least he's starting to finish races lol).

I'm a 1966 baby. I have a vague memory of standing on the bench style seat between my parents in the front seat of their car. I asked my mom and she said, "Sure! You knew how to hang on in the curves."

I did okay. It was good for Carol to get to see most of the family on Saturday. Sunday, FIL offered to work for Brad next Saturday (they were already planning to come watch the kids)... so we get to take off even earlier than we planned!

Gee - its 1am and I can't sleep. So catching up some.

A side note on the lovely rugrat. We don't like him to miss school, because he gets too far behind, and has trouble catching up. A while back, everyone was talking about their children being accepted into the gifted program. I just laughed, as I had nothing to contribute. Our son is perfectly happy to go through life with a la-dee-dah attitude. His father and I are not so happy about it. We struggle with homework and math in particular. As you may guess, from my signon - I am a CPA, but my son has no math aptitude. Oh the shame!!

Seriously, I just think he is lazy - and would rather play then go to school or do homework. So we have a lovely time each night on the schoolwork. If you listen - you can probably hear DH yelling - no matter where you live!!!

I told my son's teacher that I think we all find things to worry about as parents. I find myself worrying that my little guy is too perfect (or wants to be too perfect). It's like every little mistake is a major catastrophe. I try to tell him that everyone makes mistakes, especially when you learn something new... but he seems to think he should just know how to do everything on the first try. So, for every yell your DH gives to your son trying to motivate him... imagine me biting my nails while I watch my son carefully tracing a letter and then bursting into tears because it isn't just right.

We had a smoking area too. It was a delivery dock in back of the high school. I went to a Metro Atlanta HS in the mid-80s.

I'm doing Zicam for the "tickle". I'm keeping my fingers crossed. It's a damp, rainy day here, so that isn't helping... but I'm not complaining because we need the rain!

Tony Stewart has had a pretty good year, but he's struggling now that the race season is in the final stages. He is 4th in the points (for the Nextel Cup... think Super Bowl...), but there are only 4 races left. He has *almost* mathmatically eliminated himself from a shot at the big prize.

Marci - My son will be 13 if we cruise next summer. I'm not sure he would stay at any of the kids clubs without knowing someone else. I know we would have a good time as a family. Would you believe - neither DH or DS wants to go. DS found out I was thinking of Bermuda - and is afraid he'll disappear in the Triangle.

Oh well - if the cruise falls through - plan B was a return to Universal. (Plan B is also cheaper which appeals to DH)

Ladies - about Preparation H. My niece was a contestant for the state beauty pageant this year. She said this was a big beauty trick all the girls did. I guess last year's state winner that went to Miss America told everyone this.

Anyhoo - I asked my dermatologist client - she said IT WORKS!!! But(t) - it is not good for your skin, since your under eye skin is so thin.

Janet - too bad about the Steelers - if the game is at night - I usually don't stay awake to watch much.

Okay, is this annoying or is it just me? We're going to Six Flags this weekend - well, actually, I'm going as the sole sane adult (in case some of you didn't read any of my conversations with Mac earlier on the thread) and hoping to meet up with Mac at least some of the time there. Meanwhile, DS15 invited his girlfriend, and DS14 invited his best friend (DH and DS12 will be in Madison for the state middle school honors music festival).

Well, DS14 came home on Saturday pointing out that his best friend's younger sister REALLY wants to come along with us to Six Flags. She's a nice kid, but they certainly don't really hang out together. I mean occasionally they'll come over together if the kids all want to play a game together (she's the same age as DS12, but he's still in the "girls are icky" stage!). Since DS12 won't even be there, I pretty much said "that's nice" and ignored it.

Well, now her mom just called and wanted to "make sure" she wasn't invited as well. Um, I spoke with her twice about her son coming over, sleeping over Friday night, and going to Six Flags with us (about 3 hours away) all day Sat. No, I didn't mention her. No, I don't want to spend an additional $40 on a ticket for her, plus at least 2 meals. I really think she'd be left out (or I'd be hanging with her the entire time) since the other boys are going to want to be with their friends. Her mom was like "oh, okay, kids learn to deal with disappointment", etc.

Am I being selfish or mean? Now I really feel bad, but I just don't really want another kid along!

Sara really wanted that dead body at the construction site to be part of an ancient burial ground and I think she is going to decide to get into archeaology. she will not marry Grissom.
Catherine and her mother will get closer, as she seems to have a hand in the new casino, since she is Sam's only heir and has the $$$.
Warrick, who is now single, will get into a gambling habit again, and end up with Catherine one hot and steamy night.
But she will reject a relationship and end it.

Nothing wrong with talking to yourself. I do it all the time. I'm one of the best conversationalists I know!

Marcie - If my older sibling was going somewhere fun like Six Flags, I'd probably have made a stink and wanted to tag along too. It doesn't mean I was invited. It doesn't mean plans should change. It just means I'm a kid and Six Flags sounds like a lot of fun and if sibling is going then why can't I go too. If there is nobody for the younger kid to hang with... and she'd be the "fifth wheel" so to speak... she probably wouldn't have as good a time as she imagines that she would.

Anybody watching Dancing with the Stars? If so, did you see Marie drop like a sack of potatoes on LIVE TV? Holy crap, that was frightening!
