Janet - Is your middle DS & my oldest DS (Christopher) the same person?
Christopher was an accident waiting to happen. It all started when he was just under 2. His first accident was with the footed pajamas and a tile floor. He stepped into a little plastic basket on the tile and it slipt out from under him. He feel mouth first into the tile and knocked out his two top front teeth.
Next was a toilet accident. He was probably about three or four and had gone to pee. We had an older style toilet lid, you know the old wooden ones, and the knobs on the bottom of it had worn down. Well as he was standing there doing his business the lid fell and smashed his little you know what.
As the years went on he went through barbed wire fences & flipped over brick mail boxes while riding his bike. He was attacked by a chow and had to have many sitches in his mouth.
Then we started football. His first injury really wasn't football related but happened during football season for our big rivalry game, 8th grade. He was at church for youth group on Wednesday night and after it ended he ran up to high five one of the guys that was leaving. Well for some reason this guy (the passenger) pulled him in to the truck window. When the driver saw him he panicked and hit the brakes, the other kid let go of Chris and his legs fell under the truck. So both ankles get ran over, we get a call from the church and have to take him to the emergency room. Unbelievably nothing was broke and he was only on crutches to keep the weight off of them for a couple of days. Missed Thursdays football game with said rival.
9th grade comes around, same rivalry game, second play of the game Chris dives for the ball carrier and dislocates his shoulder. One of the coaches stands there forever trying to push his shoulder back in. Only problem was that his shoulder had gone out backwards and the coach was only making it worse. Surgery #1.
10th grade, all the boys are saying if Chris gets hurt for this game they are going after someone! Well he made it through that game but a couple of games later someone landed on him and his shoulder came out again. Come to find out the first doctor didn't fix it right so we go to another doctor adn have surgery #2.
11th grade, 1st quarter of the big rivalry game Chris gets knocked out in the end zone. He plays the rest of the first half, goes out on the field for the second half and on the first play stands up and lets his guy go straight through to our QB, who then gets smeared into the ground. Chris obviously had no idea where he was. Well the original doctor & PA from his office were at the game and watched him through the entire third quarter. They then came and told me they felt he was faking and never checked on him again. After the game was over I had to go walk him off the field. He still had no idea what was going on. As we walked he just kept getting worse, he had no idea who his little sister was (and he adores her). So we have another PA from same office look at him & he wants to know why he is still at the field. Our head coach had a doctor friend there & had him come in to check on Chris. He went balistic. They called for the ambulance to come back & we went coded to the emergency room. By the time we got there his blood sugar had dropped to 50, it started out at 84. They were running tests & had him on IV's and all of a sudden he just snapped out of it.
Same season, a few games later he dislocated his other shoulder & elbow. So now we have surgery #3!!! The next season he had an argument with his coach and quit. By the time he decided he couldn't not play it was too late. The coach wouldn't play him no matter how bad he needed him. On the bright side we didn't have any more injuries!
The past few years had been pretty good with no real injuries. In January however he slipt on the ice and when he grabbed to catch himself he dislocated his shoulder again. And now we have shoulder surgery #4!!!!
See, I think they may be the same kid!
