I'm thinking of taking in an infant after I have recuperated. I went to pay my daycare provider her last check today and asked her about it. She was MORE than helpful and gave me lots of info. She told me that people pay about $150 per week for newborn care here.

My question is what do you pay where you are? $150 seems like a lot, but she knows what she's talking about!

DD is now 13 years old, but when she was younger.....18 months to 5 years, she attended day care. During that time it was $100 a week.

I don't know where you are, but around here, infat care is running closer to $250 per week for FT care. My almost-4 year old costs me $210.

In home care is about $150/week here for infants. It's about $100 for older kids. Definitely a good deal compared to businesses that charge about $1000-1500/month for a child.

Do you have to be licensed/certified to watch children in your home in your state. Many, if not most, states have specific guidelines and rules for providing in-home day care.

No- not unless you take 3 or more children.

Home daycare....$250 per child per week plus food. Facility......$300 and includes food.

$250 per week for a child under three here.

Wow. Full-time ursery care here (<2yrs old) is $135/week at a daycare with food included.

in upstate NY, I paid $225 plus food up to 18 months. at 18 months its $215 and they provide snacks and lunch.

Yeah, these numbers that are being mentioned are definitely not the same numbers you'd see here in Maine, I think. At least when DD went to daycare they weren't even close to that... :confused3 Actually you may find those numbers along parts of the coast and very southern Maine...

It really depends on the area you're in. That would be a very low rate for an infant in MD., actually many pay that amt for before and after school care only. Infant care in this area runs $200 - $250 + all the necessities baby requires. In MD we must be licensed, even for one child. Good luck, sorry to hear about losing your job and that whole situation, hope your surgeries go well. :goodvibes

I have called local day care centers around here, looking at full time care for an infant. Prices I found range from $219 a week to $235 a week. Most in-home sitters that I know charge approximatly $3 an hour for an infant, so full time would be around $150.

It is between $150-$250 a week here.

Hope you feel better soon and are able to find a little one to take care of. I am sure it would be a relief to that family, too. Good childcare is hard to find!
