Sky Auction Tutorial

most of the time this hotels.

that say lots of timeshares in Orlando are now charging a security deposit of $50 to $200.

if you don't leave on time you will be charged. If you don't check out at the front desk - you will be charged.(CWR).

I guess if you damaged something you will be charged...(but I got mind back when I check out - so they didn't even look for this)

I think it is to get people to leave when they say they are leaving - so that housekeeping can clean the rooms before the next guest come in - or it has been so for me...

Thanks for the info. But still don't quite understand.
By winning a RSG Skyauction auction for Vacation Village at Parkway will I be charged:
additional taxes from $10 to $50 ?
And if so, is this per night or per week??

Thank you
Suzy V
PS - I love the pic of your cat

the units of inventory they used to offer on sky auction are now in the High Demand section of the www.getravelop.com

agree with your statement it could not last forever as more and more people got them, there was probably a backlash from other owners who found out how cheap it was to stay at their resorts when they had invested $$$$

even the extra vacations on RCI have much higher prices this year

maybe RCI will find they will have a lot of unused "merchandise" on their hands too..???

I'm really disappointed to hear this, but not surprised. I just got back from a week in a 2-bedroom condo at Orbit One that we paid $209 for (Home & Away auction). To make it even better (for us) we agreed to go to their timeshare presentation for which they paid us $124. This brought our cost for the WEEK down to $85!!! It probably would have been cheaper for them to have the unit empty all week (we used the heck out of that wonderful whirlpool tub in the master bath).

When arguing with the timeshare sales people I made it a point not to bring up Skyauction (don't want them thinking Skyauction is hurting sales), but all I could think to myself is "why on earth would we invest in your timeshare when we just got a week for half of your maintenance fees alone?"

Hope things ease back up, because I'd love to find a similar deal next January. I'm spoiled now, I loved spending so little on lodging because it left more for food and souveneirs!

I've noticed the same thing, about the High Demand inventory condos. Many of them are places I used to see on the Space-A list.

I did call the nightly rental line this morning, and got a nice price on a 2-BR unit at Silver Lake-Silver Points during Spring Break. Are there any other sites to check nightly rentals of the timeshare units?

thanks :)

When booking a 7 day condo only "buy it now" auction, are there any other fees involved (similar to the extra $210 for ready set go auctions)?

Since the RSG inventory isn't what it used to be, I have been looking at the buy it now area for a probable Mexico vacation. The 7 day "buy it now" prices are coming up cheaper then the rci extra vacation prices (for the property/week I am looking at anyway).

Any info. would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you

be careful about mexican exchanges....

a lot of the rci resorts there now have become "all inclusive" and the price is not included in the weekly rate.....the rates for the all inclusive are per person per day ....on top of the weekly rate or exchange

you had best check to see if the resort you are looking at in the buy it now auction " has this added feature - all inclusive " now.....

Riu girl,

Don't know if your questions about the fees/charges were answered earlier...if you look in the Customer Care section on Sky Auction, and check under the FAQ, you can find some info about the fees. It looks like the processing fee has gone up to $20 from $15 for U.S. residents.

I haven't been researching SA as much as I used to, but I believe that if there are extra fees, they are included in the info on the auction page--ie. if there is a seasonal surcharge for busy periods, or an extra fee for a larger unit.

I almost got me a 'home away from home' yesterday -

thought i understood skyauction, but i guess i still have questions. would someone please tell me:

1) what kind of auction is home away from home? why don't they show up for hotel only? do they include air?
2) how does it differ from the RSG? and
3) how does it differ from the "getaway weeks" - what are those?

TIA

home and away auctions are connected to inventory available on "www.getawayweeks.com" ( the one part of the home and away is the resort certificate that you use for reserving a week in a resort through "getawayweeks" )

the inventory there seems to be "last minute" type .....like 45 days out or less ( not to say you cannot find inventory beyond that in some areas )

the RSG auctions seem to have inventory .....further out and they are still a good bargain if the inventory is there ( however, we have seen that some of the good resorts that used to be on RSG are no longer showing up there and in addition there seems to be a paucity of 2 bedroom units )

home and away costs the auction bid plus processing fee

RSG costs auction bid + 195$ + processing fee

lawgs:
thanks for the info. Yes, it is unfortunate that most of the Mexican properties have the additional all inclusive fees. And they are HIGH. But the one I am looking at does not have the mandatory all inclusive.

So I assume that I would only have to pay the $20 processing fee on top of the "buy it now" price?? No extra $195 like the RSG auctions???

riu

why not give them a call

1-800-929-9929

that is the best way to find out for sure...

have always found the people at Skyauction very nice to deal with...

too bad they are not offering the good deals that they used to though...

thanks lawgs, I will give them a call.

i finally get the difference between RSG and H&A. and i see now why it doesn't come up on a hotel only search--because of the bonus $100 certificate, right? wow, it really looks like a great deal if your plans are flexible! one just closed for about $190, so after you "subtract" the $100 that the person can use on a future stay, the whole week only "cost" $90. wow.

riu girl - be sure to let us know if indeed there is no extra $195--it sure doesn't look like it or i'll bet they would have listed it.

it does not always have to be short term....

but the offerings being seen for florida now seems to be Vacation Village one bedrooms...

you can only do a 70 day span on searches with them lots of VV at P from 0ctober to December right now

so with long range planning you can get Orlando...ableit only one or two resorts

I actually emailed skyauction and was told that NO there are no additional fees on the 7 day vacation rentals/buy it now auctions (the one I am looking at anyway). But I looked at several and none of them mention the $195 fee.

The price you see (plus $20 admin fee) is the price you pay.
I am looking at a unit for $699 US/wk. Which is not cheap, but is a little cheaper then the same unit on rci extra vacations.

riu

thus, if we look at that week as one which we are used to, like the RSG, it would be 500$ if you take the 195$ off of it......thus not bad since the Vistana 7 day stand alone auctions used to go for that amount ....

RCI seems to have changed the inventory that it gives to skyauction, or at least the way the inventory is accessed now

www.skyauction.com
click on usa/canda
then
click on Florida (right side)
then
click on hotels only (down right side) - but only if you don't want to pariticipate in the home away from home. (then only do the Florida)

I only do the timeshares.

these are the ones for 7 days only.

the fees is $195 + $15 - so total fee is $210. for the entire 7 days.

I have own bids before with a $1.

You need to register before you start to bid.

then you need to wait until the last few minutes to place your bid. Now this doesn't work if anyone has already bid. they can use the autobid.

the autobid is an automatic bid. It is very nice. You put in the lowest amount in the bid field, then the highest amount in the autobid field. It will bid against others for you until it runs out of money or the bid is won.

there is also a place for you to watch this participate auction.

I happen to love skyauction

Shhhh!!! You are giving away tips :goodvibes
Is it my imagination or are the 7 night stays getting few & far between on SkyAuction? Also, have you noticed an increase in the amounts for the per night bids? The other night I saw that they were starting some of the per night bids off with $10. If they start with that, then add the $32 per night tax & fee, then add your bid, you may as well go with Priceline for a hotel bid. I figured out someones bid, plus the fee's ..it would have been cheaper to go with the hotel site directly.
I love the 7 night bids, I just do not see them that much anymore. Do you know the deal on the $100 certificate/7 night bids? I haven't been able to see if they charge the $195 fee as well... Do you know the ones I am talking about?

Thanks for all the info.......
We will have 2 adults, one child. Is the total for all of us or just per person? :confused3

For example, we're looking at a hotel/air combo, from GSO to Orlando. Anytime in June or in the fall season would be good. Just trying to figure out if this is the best way to go, for a 7 night stay for us.

depends.

sometimes they charge $195 for the airline per person.... (also remember the extra charges when you aren't flying out of Atlanta)

if southwest flies out - they are generally cheaper than any airline on skyauction - my opinion

www.southwest.com

I was finally able to use by Home & away special - but from Oct (when I won it) to March when I could use it.... was very trying on my nerves....so I don't know whether I will do that one again or not...

no extra fees...for that one either.

$168 - home away
$266 - $100(certificate) - $166

so for around $334 2 weeks in florida - first week in May in a 1-bedroom, next week in Sept in a 2-bedroom....
