Hi everybody........starting to accept the realization that my family may not be cruising on Saturday
I'm still holding on to a thread of hope, but I'm checking all of my options. I spoke with
DCL tonight, told them that I am scared to travel to Florida. She said I can change my cruise dates and they will waive the transfer fee (of course I will need to pay any difference in cruise fees). I'm thinking that spring break may be the light at the end of the tunnel for my family. As much as I am looking forward to my cruise, two things are evident:
1. This is a very scary situation to be in.
2. My travel interruptions are minor compared to everyone's danger in the path of this storm.
I will make a decision tomorrow morning, but right now, my head is telling me that patience is a virtue, rebook for a later date. On the other hand, I may be on my way to Florida tomorrow...who knows???
I did ask DCL if I could vote on their docking port, I said that I vote for docking in New Orleans, the DCL rep got a good laugh and said, if anyone is listening to this phone call, we have a vote for New Orleans. We both laughed.
The only two ways I can see continuing with my Saturday cruise plans are if I feel that the ship will dock safely (I don't see how any of the Florida ports can be considered safe). I don't know what other options there are, but I was halfway serious when I mentioned New Orleans. Or if DCL would make plans to start the cruise on Sunday or Monday. I would gladly give up 2 days of cruising just to be able to sail safely after the hurricane passes.
Anyhow, just checking in.....I'm still here with you, watching and praying. Lord, please let us all make wise decisions and keep the people in the path of this storm safe.
