September 4th (2004) Disney Magic Cruise List

well, i just changed res to cs from quality suites in pc, i used the fall special i got in email, for $79 a night. but i felt like we would be better off in central locale than on the coast, as well as i didn't want to wait til it was too late to get a room and they closed the hotel in pc.
at any rate cm was very helpful and when i called dcl to update cm said that no changes have been made we are still on original schedule.
but with squalls forecast for pc sat, i just don't see how we can sail out of there.

If we sail out of Tampa, does anyone know the name of the port? I just called to make ressies for an airport hotel in Tampa for Fri. nite & the rep told me she didn't know any ports in Tampa where Disney could sail from.

Has anyone considered postponing this cruise to another date, year, century? How does DCL respond to this request?

This would be our 1st cruise & it's a bit scary. I don't want to traumatize my 8 yr old dd. It's supposed to be a happy time - not a scary one.

Thanks!

Well, from everything I've been reading including other cruisline message boards that are leaving out of PC, it seems DCL will not get a spot in Tampa. Can't see why they can't stagger the times. I did book a room at the Hampton Inn in Tampa just in case.
God knows what is going on. I'm thinking by Sunday's cruise it will all be over with if it's moving on this track. As for Saturday's cruise I can't imagine how they can dowck anywhere on the east coast, maybe Jacksonville? Guess we're all playing teh waiting game. Maybe they will keep the ship out to sea until late Saturday and embark really late?

I just spoke with Luna at DCL (12:15 est). She advised that they are having meetings this afternoon and to call back around 5:00pm. She mentioned that they "may" make a decision today ("may" being the important word). I think they are doing everything they can, it's just hard waiting and trying to plan.....not Disney's fault. They are still being very professional and pleasant, and I'm sure they are handling a lot of calls from worried cruisers, not to mention families of current cruisers who, I'm sure, are very concerned.

Rachelelizabeth - where are you in Southern Indiana? - we are in Peru (half way between Indy and South Bend). We are flying Delta out of Indy on Friday morning.

I think if we all think of this as one big adventure and put our faith in Disney's hands that we will be okay and not too stressed out to enjoy ourselves!

Rae, I'm in Southern Indiana, near Louisville KY. We are planning on driving down on Thursday, arriving on Friday morning. We have a reservation at Culture Pop at WDW for Friday night. I'm still packing, but having a hard time keeping my thoughts organized.

My son Michael was born at Jeffersonville - adopted through St. Elizabeth's in New Albany! Small world.

We are at the Marriott Airport - arriving Friday afternoon, if everything holds together.

Look forward to meeting you when we finally get on the ship!

Take it safe and easy with your drive down -

I changed our flights from Friday evening to Friday morning. Spoke to DCL and the said probabel either Tampa or Ft Lauderdale. Disney transfer buses would transport to whatever port.

Also, spoke top the Travel Insurance Company, if I canceled do to Francis all I would get back is $1000. What a bummer!!!!!!!!!

So we will be in Orlando Friday and have a room booked for the Hyatt. Just waiting to board the plane and the ship.

Sounds like we'd better go with Disney Transfers - ehhh, Melody?

Oh yeah! This is one big adventure in the great journey of life. Not only for those here on this cruise, but for anyone else that lives in this amazing world.

Chin up and enjoy life! :D

Boy! I'm philosophical this morning. How will I ever get my work done now? lol

But on to something more challenging for me. Does anyone know how to tie a neck tie? We don't have those things here (well, we do but I don't get near them) What do they call it ... a windsor knot? Oh man! :D

See you at the Atlanta Airport on Friday!

Hi,

We just changed our flight from Friday eve. to Thursday evening and booked a hotel at Port Canaveral for Thursday and Friday nights. I was trying to wait until DCL made a decision on which Port to sail out of, but I just couldn't wait anymore - so we'll go to PC and take the Disney transportation to whereever they take us! Does anyone know, if they do divert us to another port to sail out of, will they still come back to Port Canaveral?

I just want to be there!!!!:earseek:

I am new here, as is evident, since I started a new thread. Which is not what I meant to do. :D

For those of you in Florida. We are driving from Atlanta - will we be able to get to Port Canaveral, or will they be evacuating? I am not real sure about driving thru the hurricane, either.

This is our 4th DC, but the first one with 6 of my 8 siblings and their families. There is 26 of us, so I have been stressed just coordinating everything, and now a hurricane is in the mix. It can't get much more fun!!!

Can't wait to get on the boat and spend a week with my siblings. Something we have never been able to do. Hopefully, we can get out to calm waters!

Thanks for any assistance and information you can offer.

:smooth: Is my better half making trouble? Well, I have to admit this hurricane has me a bit worried too. They are unpredictable though, so we can only hope, right?

Just keep a seat for me in Atlanta. I'm hoping security won't be too crowded Friday after I check in.

someone told me that disney may have a decision at 5pm. has anyone called to see whats going on> i think if our cruise is not cancelled, then our cruise would not start until sunday if at all. i was optimistic about disney never cancelling a cruise but i have read on these boards that tampa, ft lauderdale and miami may not have open ports this weekend.w

I spoke to a DCL... rep... at about 5:30 pm.... and still nothing was officially confirmed/ decided... She said that there still " in talks " /and figuring out the plans... She mentioned..the Cruise is still planned to sail / it might be out of Tampa.. rather then PC.. and she felt both Ports would still be visited (San Juan / St. Thomas.. but probably not Castaway Cay.... due to probable upcoming damage... (again,.,.just her thoughts,,, not any validation,.... ) Hope we will hear.. some confirmation soon......  :( ...........

Just took this off the Orlando Airport site.

http://www.orlandoairports.net/goaa/main.htm

Orlando International Airport will remain open; however, flight operations will be determined by each individual airline, under the guidance of the FAA.
Therefore, before arriving at the airport, please contact your airline directly to obtain information about specific flights.

Hi everybody........starting to accept the realization that my family may not be cruising on Saturday :(

I'm still holding on to a thread of hope, but I'm checking all of my options. I spoke with DCL tonight, told them that I am scared to travel to Florida. She said I can change my cruise dates and they will waive the transfer fee (of course I will need to pay any difference in cruise fees). I'm thinking that spring break may be the light at the end of the tunnel for my family. As much as I am looking forward to my cruise, two things are evident:
1. This is a very scary situation to be in.
2. My travel interruptions are minor compared to everyone's danger in the path of this storm.

I will make a decision tomorrow morning, but right now, my head is telling me that patience is a virtue, rebook for a later date. On the other hand, I may be on my way to Florida tomorrow...who knows???

I did ask DCL if I could vote on their docking port, I said that I vote for docking in New Orleans, the DCL rep got a good laugh and said, if anyone is listening to this phone call, we have a vote for New Orleans. We both laughed.

The only two ways I can see continuing with my Saturday cruise plans are if I feel that the ship will dock safely (I don't see how any of the Florida ports can be considered safe). I don't know what other options there are, but I was halfway serious when I mentioned New Orleans. Or if DCL would make plans to start the cruise on Sunday or Monday. I would gladly give up 2 days of cruising just to be able to sail safely after the hurricane passes.

Anyhow, just checking in.....I'm still here with you, watching and praying. Lord, please let us all make wise decisions and keep the people in the path of this storm safe.
