Felt significant waves before - I load up on bonine, ginger and wear wrist bands. More afraid of flying during turbulance than being on the water.

Yes, we will all have to keep saying "wave" !!

I already bought a new box of ginger tea!!! :teeth:

I just spoke with Debbie at DCL. I had booked the REAS package and she was calling to schedule dinner reservations for Palo and the couples massage. DH and I will be dining in Palo on Thursday night at 9:00 pm. We are night owls. We will be doing our couples massage on Sunday at 1:00.

I also found out that Sunday is Formal night. Tuesday is Pirate night (my birthday and I hope to celebrate it in Parrot Cay). and Thursday is Semi Formal. I believe that Debbie said Sunday is the character breakfast.

Was anyone else able to get Palo reservations?

:bounce: I was just looking at the storm track and if the storm follows the course they have currently set for it, then it will miss us completely and not make landfall in FL at all... Lets keep our fingers crossed on that one...! :umbrella:

once again, i wake up to find reports sof hurricane francis. oh how i wanted to be gone when i woke up. i dont know how to find info if the portdoes change. does anyone know? i got an email f rom sueellen saying disney will contact you but most ofwill not be at our homes!.

I am so praying this hurricane avoids the state of Florida! This is my DD7 and my first cruise and we are celebrating her 7th birthday. I just told her about the cruise last night and she is counting the MINUTES! :cake:

I also live in Ft. Lauderdale, so can we all go back to our praying form and recite "Frances Frances go away and please don't come any other day"?!:worship:

Melissa

yes we can. i dont know if i said that sueellen from dU emailed me and told me that they wont cancel the cruise and will let you know more details. how are they going to let us know if none of us are home

OK... just got off the phonewith DCL... they said, and I quote "There will definitly be a change in the intinerary, we are in negotiations right now..."
She continued and said that we may be using their "Alternative Port" but she declined to comment on where that would be.. she said the plans would be finalized by thursday or friday and they would make an official announcement at that time...

Does anyone have any inside information? Any contacts to tap? Anyone know where the "Alternative Port" would be?

Most likely Tampa. They ahve used this port before. I can't imagine it would be Ft. Lauderdale or Miami given the situation.
I'm on Sunday's cruise. I would love to leave out of Tampa. I wonder what they do about your cars if you leave from one port and arrive in another?

I spoke with Disney Cruise Line this morning to get advice on my Trip-Tiks from AAA. I asked if the Magic could not dock at Port Canaveral, where should I get maps to just in case there is an alternate embarkation site. DCL advised to get maps to Tampa, Ft. Lauderdale and Miami as alternate sites.

My hope is Tampa or Ft. Lauderdale. Miami is such a long drive - especially in hurricane weather.

I'm sitting here, hoping for a miracle.........Floridians need our prayers..............turn baby turn.

Rachel

Would it be unreasonable to assume that DCL would bus us to the alternate port?

Paul, I'm getting nervous, but not sure if it's the weather or the Kona hitting my bloodstream!

Rae

I would hope they would bus us to the changed port. I am just wanting to make it to the Orlando Airport Firday Night.

Hi guys, after being nervous about this ordeal the whole day, I also just called DCL and spoke to a really nice woman. She said that no adjustments in port or itinerary have been made at this point, however, she did ask for my contact information so they can get in touch with me should things change. She also said they would try their best to keep the itinerary as close to the original as possible while maintaining the safety of their guests.... Like the last 7 nt Western cruise they bypassed Key West and made two stops in Mexico and did CC first. She said she seriously doubted they would ever change an Eastern to a Western. She also said they have never left from another port so things would have to be pretty dire to change locations.... but if they did, they would probably pick up the cost. She mentioned that they did delay the last Western cruise to give guests extra time to get there and even when they left (leaving some passengers still unaccounted for), they contacted these guests and made arrangments for them to drive/fly down to Key West to catch the ship there, at Disney's expense! She promised they would be extra accommodating if this hurricane gets too close to us.

Another thing to consider, and it's just a consideration, is trip insurance, which is still available through DCL's insurance carrier (but not bookable through Disney, you'd have to call the insurance co. direct). I booked my trip through VacationsToGo and they will allow me to buy trip insurance up to 48 hours prior to departure. The cost for me (36) and my dd7 would be about $100.00 and covers just about everything. It's just something to think about in case you are truly concerned.... however, just to re-state, if there are any changes due to this hurricane, there would be no penalties or loss of money inflicted by Disney.

Let's just keep hoping the hurricane changes it's course. You all may want to contact Disney to give them all your contact numbers in case they don't already have them.

Signed,

a finger crossing, toe crossing, eye crossing Melissa :)
