September 2011 - The Planning Continues! (2nd Thread)

Thank you all for your positive words on my shirts. It's the first time I've ever done the freezer paper stencil and there are a few spots that acquired some paint that I wasn't wanting to. I love them though, because I made them! I posted them on my FB and one of my good friends says, "cute, but I can't imagine wearing them in public!" Well, that's nice because she doesn't have to. I AM! :goodvibes

I personally love your shirts, and you've inspired me to give freezer stencils a try!

Dont worry about your friends comments either! Disney is a different world. I bought minnie ears and wore them every day proudly, and last year bought mickey ears (as did DH and DS) and we wore them as a family and loved it. No one made any remarks in the parks or looked at us funny because its all families who were doing the same as us anyways! Besides all the cute matching shirts, mickey ears, and everything else that we do as a family make for great memories :goodvibes Just think, one day we wont be able to get our kids to wear anything that matches us, so we might as well do it while we can!

YAY! I'm so glad that you're going to try it too! It's really fun. As for my friend... whatever. I honestly don't care, its just funny how non-Disney people are.

What are the top 3-5 food/drink items you are most looking forward to at WDW? popcorn::

Me? (in no particular order...)
-Red Velvet Cheesecake Cupcake from Starring Rolls
-Dole Whip (because its talked about SO much)
-Mushroom Filet from Le Cellier with Mashed Potatoes (not risotto)
-Caramel Apple from Karamell-Kuche
-Boma and Ohana (I know, this is two in one...) These restaurants are just so highly rated.

This may seem weird to some people but DBf and I are really looking forward to the pork belly app. at Tokyo Dining. I saw it on the menu on All Ears when we first started planning. Then I saw an updated menu and it was gone. Just today I decided to look again to see if the menu had changed..... Well it had, and the pork belly is back on the menu on All Ears. HOPEFULLY *fingers crossed* it is still on the menu when we get there!!!

I want to try a treat from Starring Rolls, BOMA, and the different alcoholic slushies at EPCOT! DBF is looking forward to a scotch flight at UK.

It is getting so close!!

I wanted to share the shirts I made for our family using the freezer paper stencils. I used each of our favorite colors.

Call me dumb but what are freezer stencils and how did you do that?!!

I'm getting really excited now! Trip is paid in full and now we wait!!!!
I have to cancel some adrs but other than that we are in good shape!!!
Ordered some shirts and toys for dd on disney.com last week!!!

I can't believe how close we are all getting. We leave one month from today!

I have a couple questions and hoping someone might be able to help me.
I know you can use your key to the world card to have your purchases sent back to your room. Can you do this if you pay cash or with credit card only?

We got the free dining with free photobook package. I want to preorder my photopass CD before we go to save some money. Do i have to wait for my stuff from our travel agent with a photopass number, or can I preorder the cd now and have the free photobook linked to our account?

will be staying at Yacht Club...Sept 4 - Sept 12....another solo trip and hopefully a relaxing one

I know you get two separate things in the mail from Disney beforehand, and that one is the ME stuff, but what all comes in the other mailing? And how far apart do they usually come? We got our ME stuff last week so can I expect more stuff pretty soon? (We got the whole shebang through Disney, tickets, dining and resort if that makes a difference).

We got our luggage tags yesterday! It always makes it seem more real. We finally got our rewards card and are gonna use that to purchase MNSSHP tickets for Sept 20. I can't believe that we will be there in a little over a month! :woohoo:

I got my AP linked to my disney account and saw the pricing if we get DDP added. We currently have a room only reservation. It would be a nice savings for us to be able to use DDP. Although the room rate is more, the total amount we would save on food would be greater.

At the time I booked my room, I didn't have the AP yet. I am not sure if they will use my existing deposit (I paid off my room already) or if I will have to remake the reservation all over again and pay out the whole amount for the reservation and get the money back from the room only reservation as a refund. From my understanding folks who make adjustments on their "vacation packages" can make adjustments with no problem, but because it is a room only, I am confused.

I am planning on calling this week to check it out. I had a very frustrating discussion with 2 CM's last week about another issues so I am biding my time until I call again. I don't want to get any more discouraged then I already am.

TIA for any info you might have!!

I couldn't wait until Monday or Tuesday to book the rooms I found. So after cancelling Sept's resie, I ended switching around dates on 3 other previously booked stays. We will now be staying at CSR in AUG and OCT, POP in NOV, and POFQ in Dec. Ended up saving $83 switching our dates for POFQ!! $16 switching POP dates. So I guess having to change weekends wasn't nearly as painful as I expected it to be!

Were you thinking of switching to free dining or adding the Passholder Dining Plan to your reservation? I checked into adding the plan to our reservation and it came to $200/day for the 4 of us for the AP dining plan plus. We never spend that much on food, and I am huge on appetizers, so it's not worth it for us to do the dining plan. We will stick to our room only discount and use TIW for the 20% off food and beverage.

I think I was told by the CM for the quick service dining plan it comes out to a 20% savings, but you still can't get appetizers. We save 20% anyway at most of the places we eat with the TIW so there is no additional savings using the DDP for us.

I don't have alot of experience but will try to answer your questions...

1. You can link your key to the world card to your credit card if you prefer to pay that way... we usually avoid doing this as I don't want any accidental purchases added.. kwim... As for having packages sent back to your resort, we did this once... and found out the hard way it wasn't sent directly to your room, but to the gift shop at the resort (this was at Pop, don't know if its the same at all resorts or if they do things different at mods or higher, maybe someone else knows) You pay for your packages however you want to pay... Just remember you can't do it on your last day.

2. I don't have the photobook package, but I did get the photopass card in my mickey mail. You should be getting yours any day now, I think you can go ahead, but may be easier just to link up the card you get sent.

I hope this helps....

Nope not for free dining. I am hoping to just add the Passholder dining plan. I am just unsure if the deposit already put down can be used towards this change or if I will have to rebook, and pay out the whole amount then get a refund after the fact. I don't waste my aggrivation on this process if I know ahead of time I won't be able to do that. I would be getting an upgrade to preferred too, based on what is available now. No more standard. (that is nice too)

I am weighing out the prices right now. For us, the price to add the DDP is about $100 per night for the two of us. So from $255 standard room only to $568 preferred with DDP. We are also planning on getting TIW as well for alcohol purchases and for upcoming trips where we do not use the DDP. I had some really not so great experiences with 2 CM's last week. One of them I actually asked to a supervisor and was denied..... I got put on hold and when they came back they were able to assist me further. I work at a phone svc and one of our MAIN rules is if anyone wants a supervisor or someone else you transfer them. It may not make a difference in the end result for what the request is but it usually leaves a happier customer.

Maybe I am just over sensitive and getting anxious for our trip!! :headache:

I think we've finally got our ADRs squared away for our upcoming trip. We cancelled our Brown Derby ADR because they recently changed the menu and went from a steak that sounded fantastic to one that sounded, well, not so fantastic. Considering we were going to both get the steak, it was a big deal when they made the change.

All are dinners:

11th - Coral Reef
12th - Tutto Italia
13th - Chefs de France
14th - Narcoosee's

That'll be two new restaurants for this trip (Tutto and Chefs). It took us forever last night to figure out to go to Tutto. DH wasn't thrilled with the idea until I reminded him that one of his coworkers is practically obsessed with the place. We also don't have to pay out of pocket for any of them either, which is very nice.

I had asked yesterday how much it would cost to upgrade to the passholder dining plan. The CM tried to link it to a reservation I had made online. She couldn't do it without cancelling it out. Then she tried with one she had made for me earlier in the phone call. She had no problem So with those odds, I guess there is a 50/50 chance they can do it without cancelling the resie. The next question is will they be able to get you a preffered passholder discount? I came up with a POFQ AP Oct-Dec passholder rate and that same room didn't show at all on their computer. So I booked it myself.

Thank you so much. It's good to know they only send your purchases to the gift shop. We're staying at ASMo. I'll have to make sure to ask. We wanted to purchase a couple things for Christmas gifts for the kids.

I'm already laying awake at night thinking about packing and how excited the kids will be.
