September 2011 - The Planning Continues! (2nd Thread)

Thank you all for your positive words on my shirts. It's the first time I've ever done the freezer paper stencil and there are a few spots that acquired some paint that I wasn't wanting to. I love them though, because I made them! I posted them on my FB and one of my good friends says, "cute, but I can't imagine wearing them in public!" Well, that's nice because she doesn't have to. I AM! :goodvibes

Your shirts are so cute!!! Thanks for sharing them.

I'm popping in to say hi! :wave2: I had to make a change to our plans this week, and not one I like. My DH took a look at my tires last Sunday, and declared that I need two front tires and a front end alignment before we leave for Florida. I'm getting pretty annoyed that things keep going awry as we get closer to time to leave. :headache: Since that took $400 right off the top of our budget, I've had to cancel our plans for MNSSHP. I'm bummed, until I think about the fact that we will be in WDW in 41 days! I figure getting safely back and forth definitely trumps the Halloween party. I'm hoping everything else keeps bumping along so we don't have any more unwelcome surprises!:rotfl:

The five things I want to try in WDW are, in no particular order:

Turkey leg! (Don't judge me, I'm super excited! :cool1:)
Cheddar cheese soup and pretzel bread from LeCellier
Tie dye cheesecake
Thanksgiving Sandwich (Earl of Sandwich, again I'm pumped!)
Banana bread pudding at Main Street

Is it time to leave yet?:yay:

Glad to see you back. We had some issues like that along the way also. That is part of the reason we weren't sure where we would be staying. IT was one thing after another. We did MNSSHP and it was fun but I would rather cut out some extras than not go. Your kids won't know that they are missing it. Mine asked last year why we weren't going and I just told them the truth. That we had to pay for my stepson to meet us there and pay for his room and ticket and they were fine.

I love you shirts :) Unfortunately my family would feel like your good friend. While they love Disney, they don't understand the concept of wearing matching t-shirts. So sighhhhhh even though I would love to make similiar shirts, my family would not appreciate it. :(

I hear ya! We will be having our 90k mile maintenance before we leave for Disney. At our last maintenance, they told us we would need 4 new tires when we hit 90k. We are hoping the tires will be ok until after we get back from Disney, but we won't know for sure until the next week or so. We are expecting 4 tires, an alignment, and balance to be around $750. If it really can't wait, then at least it will be nice to have new tires driving down. Our car insurance for two cars is also due in September (plus other annual bills!), so it's just one of those times when multiple payments converge at the same time as our vacation!

What part - we're on the east coast - Saint John, New Brunswick - we arrive24th - hope that means our mickey mail is on its way :cool1:

I'm only an hour away in BeaverDam, right outside of Fredericton.
The only mail I got so far was the ME tags. Hoping to get the other mail soon.
The weather this weekend was wonderful, but I kept looking up at the sky saying this will be what it is like at Disney in 36 days. :)
I've got everything ready except for some packing. The MNSSHP costumes are ready, the t-shirts, the Mousekeeping envelopes, and the door signs.
Thank heavens we have the DisBoards.:goodvibes

I am really excited to go to BabyCakes...I want to try the muffins, the sweetbreads, and the Cookies.
I'm hoping to try a Dole whip this time.
DH is excited about going back to POP. He really liked the Mickey Waffles.
And fresh pineapple. We are doing the Aloha Dinner at the Poly.

thats awesome, we are actually right in Fredericton and will be down the same time as you. Are you flying from the states...we always do..sooo much cheaper!!

I know you get two separate things in the mail from Disney beforehand, and that one is the ME stuff, but what all comes in the other mailing? And how far apart do they usually come? We got our ME stuff last week so can I expect more stuff pretty soon? (We got the whole shebang through Disney, tickets, dining and resort if that makes a difference).

The other mailing is your coupon book that breaks down all of the items in your package and your plastic luggage tags.

Unplanned expences are a pain but, you can't be too bummed. You're going to Walt Disney World!!!!! There is sooooo much to see and do and yes, eat your first time that you will find there still isn't time for it all. MNSSHP is really cool, but that will be an awesome first time thing on the next trip.

Hope the transitioning into 9th goes well for DD! Tough to be a young fish in a big pond.

My must eat's are:
1 snack and 1 QS meal from each country in WS. We are going to do a food porn report when we get back. "Round the world in 22 points." Of course, we are spreading it out throughout our stay. :woohoo:

What's the "other mail" besides the ME tags that you get?!?!

First usually comes ME if you are flying. Sometimes they send a little brochure about your hotel. We have gotten this the last few trips. Then as part of your package (if you booked a package) you will receive a booklet with your luggage tags, your resort information, and the "extras" like the 100 pt arcade coupon, 15% off certain rentals and spas things like that. That is the only mail we ever get.

40 DAYS i AM GETTING SO EXCITED........I WANT MICKEY MAIL!! I will be making sure I get the mail for the next 30 days and not the kids!!...They hardly EVER get the mail but I will make sure they don't now!! :thumbsup2 Today we were out to dinner with my parents for my dad's bday and something was said about all the sleepovers my DH has had having extra kids without me home cause I work nights....and my mom said " what about your trip to Disney and xtra kids......" I cut her off and said "Mom we aren't going this yr it's next yr" She just said "Oh yeah!!" Thank goodness the kids think grandma and grandpa are old and probably don't remember things.:lmao: Both girls blurted out "Grandma that's next year--you just can't keep your years straight":rotfl:

Sounds like what our neighbor did. She asked our kids if they were excited to be going back to Disney so soon. I had to think quick and say, "That trip already happened? Did you forget? We went in June." She played it off and just said, "I don't know what I was thinking! How was your trip?" Phew! I have slipped myself so many little times. I am not used to not talking around our kids. I hope I make it another 43 days.

Thank you so much. It's good to know they only send your purchases to the gift shop. We're staying at ASMo. I'll have to make sure to ask. We wanted to purchase a couple things for Christmas gifts for the kids.

I'm already laying awake at night thinking about packing and how excited the kids will be.

We stayed at ASMu last year and they actually put our purchases on our door handle so when we got back it was there.....course it made us glad there are honest people that didn't snatch it. :scared1:

i leave in 25 days...ME came in the mail a couple days ago...shouldnt the other stuff be here already though?

Wow I have never seen this one. I plan on purchasing some new Camiilia charms and at 40.00 a piece I hope they keep them til I pick them up.:scared1: I will say disney is the best when it comes to replacing something beacuse of a mishap.

I'm trying to figure out how much cash to bring? Would you just bring enough for tips ect and then charge the rest to your KTTWC? We are pretty much a cash only family. Dh does have a couple of CC so I could bring one. I would prefer to use that over my visa debit card.

I had asked yesterday how much it would cost to upgrade to the passholder dining plan. The CM tried to link it to a reservation I had made online. She couldn't do it without cancelling it out. Then she tried with one she had made for me earlier in the phone call. She had no problem So with those odds, I guess there is a 50/50 chance they can do it without cancelling the resie. The next question is will they be able to get you a preffered passholder discount? I came up with a POFQ AP Oct-Dec passholder rate and that same room didn't show at all on their computer. So I booked it myself.

So after giving myself a headache :headache: I figured out the oop expenses vs using the DDP. For this trip isn't worth us getting the DDP. Thank you so much for the 1st hand knowledge. I really, really appreciate it!

My first trip to WDW will be Sept 11-16, staying at All-Star Movies. Got my ME info in the mail, and the count is under 30 days now!!

:yay:

I really don't think they usually leave it on the door...I think we just had a weird mis-hap of sorts for some reason.

We are a cash only family also for the most part...that ATM/Debit card can be dangerous. lol. We brought enough cash for what we used it's nice because you have the in-room safes to store what you don't want to carry.
