Are we there yet???:cool1::cool1:

Spanx smoothers are on the drying rack along with the 3rd swimsuit and a second pajama top. :cool1::cool1:

Tomorrow I need to finish printing out the rest of the t-shirt transfers for Pal Mickey and my shirts. :thumbsup2

I need just a few more fish extender gifts. I'm going to find a small space bag to put my dirty clothes in. Several of my capri suits are linen and I refuse to get them dry cleaned here and then come out of the suitcase looking like I slept in them. Darn linen!!:):)

Seven and a half work days left. :yay::yay::yay::yay::yay:

Ambien.. my doctor gave me a few pills even though I had a bad reaction to them. This was after taking them nightly for several years. I found I was sleep walking and sleep eating. I would have mysterious bruises and a trash can full of candy wrappers. I told Terry that there was no place I could sleep walk to on the plane, and that I would wake up refreshed and ready to tour!!!:lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao:

Are we there yet???:yay::yay::yay::yay:

I remember Stephanie telling me that it seemed that things were missing
from the kitchen and she was blaming the grandkids. Here it was her and she wondered why those five pounds she had lost had found her again!!! Thank goodness she is sitting at the window so I can keep an eye on her!!! :lmao: If I have to, I will tie her down!!! :rotfl:

Did you mean knickers? I kind of had to laugh at the magic knockers. To us Americans "knockers" is another term for female upper parts...why? I have no idea.

Whoops ... yes I did mean knickers !!! Knockers can mean the same thing here as you have described.

I've missed all of you! :grouphug:

Needless to say, this week has totally SUCKED as Hayley very eloquently put it. I've only read a few pages after I posted about my childhood friend Becky's passing, so I apologize for not commenting on all that's been posted. However, I do want to express that all your comments as well as the support so many of you have expressed on Facebook have been overwhelmingly appreciated. Really. You have no idea how much it means to me to have my DIS family around. So thank you everyone. Both Becky and Lisa's funeral/memorial were nice in their own way that was suiting to their personalities. I thought I could handle Lisa's a little bit easier than Becky's, but it soooo wasn't the case. Can I just tell you that watching an 8 year old son patting his daddy on his back to console his grief of loosing his wife is just too much to watch? Seriously.....there are some things that we'll just never understand.

I also wanted to say that Stephanie (Steffy), your final loving gesture to your friend as she took her last breath just brought me to tears and does so again as I write this. Sometimes there are just no words to describe an action, and that was one of them.

Before I'm permanently labeled as the depressing poster......

Welcome to some of our new cruising friends and congrats on reports of good health and preventive measures being put into place to maintain your health.

My mom is coming down to visit with me for the next couple of days, but once she leaves, I'll get back on the boards to keep myself in the loop and feed on your excitement. I truly cannot believe we are so close. I was telling friends today that I think I'm going to end up at the airport in 13 days and wonder why the heck I'm there. Thank God that I had that early start on serious packing!

Chat with you all in a couple of days. It will be so nice to be around happy thoughts and smiles with you guys!

Sending you :hug::hug::hug:. You have been through and coped with such a tough time and it will have had a massive impact on you losing two friends so tragically and so close together. Hopefully having your Mum to stay will help. Keep strong and take care

Just stopping by.

Seems "Earl" has been good to the kids around here as well as the government workers. Schools and colleges are closed. It did not prevent me from checking in for my flight tomorrow to NY, So fingers crossed I will be on that flight tomorrow night.

You can tell there is a storm coming becasue it is ominious outside. I guess that is wear the phrase "calm before the storm" came from.:thumbsup2

Welcome to all the new people. Safe journey for all the B2B folks.

For those folks in the US I hope you have a wonderful Labor Day Weekend.

Hope the horrible hurricane doesn't cause too much trouble ... it must be so scary for you all leaving under the threat of it. Hope you have a safe journey and a wonderful Med cruise. See you in 13 days

I carry a card that says what I have and what prescription I take. Also, if you are traveling with meds that need refrigeration, the drug company or whoever you go through, should give you a travel case with a cold pack. I have MS so sometimes they (MSLifelines) will call to make sure I am well stocked. I don't know how it works with other illnesses.

Thank you for the information. I'll have to call my doctor to get a note.

Finally got through to the podiatrit's office after being transferred arround a few times because we were a 'priority referral'. They only had 1 appointment availalbe between now and the 16th and it didn't really work into our schedule. So the nurse referred us to a nearby office and I'm so glad. This other nurse was so pleasant and helpful. She offered to let us come in today! But since DS wants to try and brave it out for these next 2 Fridays, we scheduled his procedure for the morning of the 14th, with the caveat that we can reschedule if he can't bear it any more. Its a longer drive to this office, but the nurse was so nice and they were so accomodating, that I think we'll be happier here.

Glad to hear there's an appointment scheduled at least. I give him credit for putting up with the pain for the next two Fridays - but if he can't wait, I don't blame him for wanting it out earlier.

Ambien.. my doctor gave me a few pills even though I had a bad reaction to them. This was after taking them nightly for several years. I found I was sleep walking and sleep eating. I would have mysterious bruises and a trash can full of candy wrappers. Are we there yet???:yay::yay::yay::yay:

I think we're on the same flight out of Philly together...don't worry if you're sleep walking, I'll wake you up. I REALLY want to sleep on the plane, but I know my track record isn't too good in regards to sleeping. I have talk to my doctor about combining my sleeping pill I take at night with the Xanex...I can just imagine being totally zonked out and drooling on the seat! LOL!!

:)

OK is anyone else starting to panic with everyone heading off to their med cruises??? Its starting to freak me out big style now! So much to do so little time!

And it takes so much time each day keepig up with the posts here... what to do, if only i could train my computer (or kids) to read everything out to me while i packed :rotfl2:

Busy day here - it is my birthday! 51 years old, how did that happen :scared1:

Happy Birthday :cake:

I'm sorry to say that reports coming out of Tortola indicate that Hurricane Earl has done some damage. For those of you familiar with the island, here's a link from Cruise Critic on some specifics:

http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=1264856

I have emailed our contact whose house we rented last month but haven't heard back. I'll let you know what I hear.

I definitely agree with the CC poster, when you are on Tortola, please consider spending in the local shops and restaurants to help an already difficult economy. We love Tortola!

Andrea

That's the biggest down side to living in the tropics. we will do our bit to boost their local economy

I've missed all of you! :grouphug:

Chat with you all in a couple of days. It will be so nice to be around happy thoughts and smiles with you guys!

 I hope its all "plain sailing" from here for you and your loved ones.

A few years back the Pastor at our chuch was doing a childrens sermon and was talking about things we do to save time. The young daughter of the youth group coordinators raised her hand with an idea of how they save time. When asked what they do at home she stated "Every Sunday my Mommy and Daddy take a shower together to save time" The whole church just roared with laughter and I think they may have sunk completely under the pew. For the rest of the service little chuckles would rise up periodically.

:lmao::lmao::lmao:

:lmao::lmao::lmao:Magic Knockers!!!:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2: Made my day!!:rotfl:

Oh I hope the damage isn't too bad. Tortola is a really beautiful island with lovely people.

You have had a tough period Kimberley, really horrible. So heartbreaking to read about the young boy comforting his dad.:sad1:

You will really be ready for this cruise. I hope you manage to enjoy the final planning now.

Oh Noel, I am so scared and worried about packing. I just can't see me being able to get everything in. Talk about stressed!!!:rotfl2: I have put one skirt back in the cupboard because I have plenty, and I would have had to buy a top to go with it!!! Shoes aren't too bad for me as I seem to have a few flat sandals which are light and don't take up much space.
me too
Hi

so not only does M&S give me lousy service

But i went to the ATM today and found that a standing order for my loan which i paid in full in july (big moment that finally I owe nothing to ANYONE!)

Anyway the bank did not stop the standing order ! so it went out of my account which ofcause as i have paid 2 months rent (as i am away for 1 month) my holiday money meant i was near to the overdraft it sent me over :scared1:

Grrr i was furious at the bank they assured me they would sort it out on friday and the money over £600 went out GRRR why am i getting lousy service

sigh
jason
thats rubbish, not sure why it seems nobody can do anything right these days.
Sorry about the phone, but your comment about Switzerland peaked my interest. We will have a 5 hour lay over in Zurich on our way to Barcelona. All of the travel sites I have read say that we would have plenty of time to take the train into the city, even if we just wander for an hour. So now I will get to add Switzerland to my list of places I have visited.
I have pmd you re switzerland.
I am beginning to panic too. I was discussing with Hubby that I need to find something for Villians night. He looked at me like I had 2 heads.

Congrats on great packing and games night sounds fun. Hope you have a great med cruise. Incase you are reading this from the airport.

I am never worried abouot getting things to fit at the beginning of the cruise.... it is after the cruise I worry. :lmao: Need to buy accordingly to the room I have left :lmao:

Ok I found some masks. One is shaped like panics face but in purple. That is for hubby. I found a feather mask that has black feathers on one side white on the other :goodvibes Oh and cheap gloves that have a zebra stripes.

Now to find purple shirts and we are good to go. Will post pics later :)
:lmao:
not again

just found out there's been another oil rig explosion and now oil spill in the Gulf

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/us_gulf_rig_explosion
pathetic.
Di is getting into the swing of things packing. Past two days, she returns home with newly purchase items for the unpacked suitcase in the middle of bedroom floor.... :happytv:

Walt :cool1:
I wish I could be bothered to post a pic of my bedroom:scared1:
I am a little bit but going off in about a half an hour to get my hair colored which is always relaxing!!
relaxing? I hate it, it takes forever, I get ants in my pants after 30 mins thinking all what I should be doing.
That is terrible :sad2: DD has lost at least two phones, usually in the back of taxi`s. I don`t know how people can keep them. I found an expensive phone and pair of glasses in the road last year. When the guy called to collect them, he barely said thanks! Still glad I returned them though.
Typical, folk eh?
I have returned so many phones, but once I returned one to a hairdressers, she insisted she wanted to do my hair for free, not a chance !! cant mind how I got out of that one, also in lasvages I picked up a phone and was taking it to reception(30 mins walk!) and it rung, I answered it, I honestly think she thought I was osme kinda nutter, she couldnt understand 1 word I was saying, eventually I used her phone and txtd, reception, hope she got it.
As I see many of you catch flights to Barcelona, I wish you a fantastic trip. See you on the boat. If you forget any essential item (even a pirate's patch) tell me and I will do what I can to find it. Greetings to all. Enjoy very much (I work until the 17th, so you give me a lot of envy). By the way could you say to me what clothes are adapted for the dinners ? Should we dress for dinner of the villains?
Actually, I am a perfect Cruella de Vil, even without disguise or at least that's what my kids say.
Im wearing posh purple dress for villians night and a mask.
Hello you all...

Haven't been here for a while?!? So busy with Simon and exhausted at night, when I usually read DISboards...

Should starting making any lists... Hopefully get it done on the weekend. Getting my cruise hairdo on Saturday. *woohoo* :cool1:

AND I have one more questions that came to my mind...

How about the changing facilites for the little ones?!? Do they have neat little diaper changing rooms? Or is it just the restrooms?

Sending bit HELLOs to you... So looking forward to meeting you.
Did I miss something very very very very important... I would regret not knowing???

thx
Steffi.
Babies are so time consuming(so Ive been told:lmao:)
take care and see you soon, Lynne x
Well....not perfect....but better than the first. I'm not sure where I went wrong this time. Thought I did all my responses the same, but obviously I forgot something. So sorry if this hurts your eyes. :upsidedow
keep trying.

nice to have you back, life can be pretty tough sometimes.
Yes, I think this cruise will be a MUCH more PARTY group than the Baltics cruise I was on.....did I tell you I was the ONLY guest that dressed as a villain! I even have the wig. All the staff were impressed as well as many of the children.....I guess I am still a kid at heart.

LETS GET THIS PARTY STARTED

Would like to see that Corinna!:thumbsup2

We operate 2 of or 5 daily flights in an out of Heathrow with an A380 as well. When I came back from Dubai on New Year's Day, we opted to fly to Heathrow as we wanted to try the A380. It is a fantastic aircraft.

We got a beautiful commemorative crystal paperweight yesterday to celebrate the A380 service for Manchester.

I hope it's not far as we plan to walk to the town and the cable car station. Tony reckons it's not far and he used to be based there for a while when in the Navy. I will ask him exactly how long it takes when he gets home from work.

Thanks for this.

If its the same place we got the dolphin tour from its around a 5 min taxi ride. You go out of the port and turn left and its right there. Can't remember where the cable car was but I think this was in town which was about 20 min walk.

Thanks again, I have decided to add the cable car, which also includes the use of an audio guide at the top station. For an extra EUR3.50, you really can't beat it.

DH John and I are doing the Skywalk tour in Gibraltar. If this is the type of tour you are doing, Michael (Mdwoodman) posted a map and info that looks like it is an easy walk. Check this post for details.

Thanks for posting the link for the map. I knew that one had been posted, but I did not dare trying to find it. I still have no clear idea where the ferry terminal is that we need to get to for the boat tour, but I am sure we can work it out.

I understand. For us coming back from our US holidays, we stay awake that arrival day and go to bed as late as possible. Don't nap. Usually sleep like a log and late too, but then the second night is completely different. Awake very early or in the night and very tired during the day! It gradually gets better night after night, but can go on for sometime for some people. We usually say 10 days before we feel normal

It is amazing how different people are. We used to do this and felt rotten for days. In 2006, we opted to stay at a hotel near Heathrow for one night after coming back from Los Angeles and as there was nothing to do and we did not have the energy to go into London for sightseeing, we went to bed at around 10 AM. We briefly woke up around dinner time, had a quick bite to eat and then went to sleep again until 9:00 AM the following morning. We felt completely back to normal afterwards. So ever since then, we always go to bed as soon as we get back from the airport.

It isnt formal night, good q, I just bought the posh frock cause I could.:rolleyes1

That is exactly how I feel about this. I don't get many chances to dress up and will jump at every chance that I do get.

Laura (Eeyorelvr10) is already having flight issues due to Hurricane Earl. They have been re-routed from Atlanta to La Guardia but the flight from NYC to Barcelona leaves out of JFK.....they will arrive into LGA at 4:08 and the flight to BCN leaves at 5:40.....not much time, so lets hope that they make it.

Will keep you updated :)

I am so sorry that they are having to deal with delays and disruptions.

jason

I am so sorry that you are having problems with the bank. I always thought that you had to cancel standing orders. I know that once the last payment for my graduate loan was made, I had to cancel the standing order.

I have had such a busy day!!! :hyper:

First up, I received my cruise documents at last!!! :dance3: I wasn't too fussed/worried but it's nice to be official!!! ;)

Secondly, most of my FE stuff is now finished and I must say, I'm rather pleased with the results!!! :thumbsup2

Thirdly, I have only one more door magnet left to work on and have printed out all those that are completed!!! :cool1:

Fourthly, I checked all my cruise clothes and I actually think I'm done. Just waiting on a pair of gold sandals to arrive before I can close the case - well, not literally but you know what I mean... I'm really happy with most of the outfits and can't wait to wear them now!!! Bring it on!!! :woohoo:

And finally, I've almost finished making a complex DVC rental reservation (just 1 day to go) for a Fairytale Wedding that has been several months in the planning. As we're now so cleaned out points-wise, I'm thinking I might just see what the onboard offers are like... :rolleyes1

Sounds like you had a really productive day.

I had not realized that you still did not have your cruise documents. They were really taking their time.

I just finished my magnets as well. I thought I had 6 or 7 to do, but it was actually only 3.

I forgot to mention that Jason and I must've done a really great job packing because we got everything we wanted & needed to bring into 3 suitcases (all under 48 lb.) and one carry-on each (my carry on is basically a computer bag with some extra odds and ends in it and Jason is carrying on a rolling suitcase---the smaller kind that are often called "pilot bags" and that we're HOPING will fit the requirements for carry on so we won't have to check it!)

Anyhow....we had plenty of room to pack games, so I hope there really are folks who wanna play some games on this ship! We are bringing (if I can remember all of them):

Taboo
Cranium
Buzz Word
Boggle
Bananagrams

And a bunch of different card games:
Uno (Disney Theme Parks Edition)
Skip Bo
Blink
Ziggity
Swap
Bandits
Cards (standard regular deck---Disney themed of course---for Euchre, rummy, etc.)

(If you're not familiar with any of those games, just google them and check them out...none are hard to learn and all are pretty fun!)

So we will definitely have games to keep ourselves entertained! :thumbsup2

I just Googled some of the games and they sound like fun. I would definitely be up for a game after late dinner some evenings.

Well, I'm pretty sure that this is my official LAST POST on this thread before I see all of you on the 18th (and some of you on the 8th)!! I am leaving my office in about 10 minutes to change my clothes and go pick up Jason and head to the airport...and once our trip actually begins I doubt very highly I'll be keeping up with the boards....and if I try (with they way you guys get so chatty!!), I'm sure I'll give myself a headache. So I suspect that when I log off in just a few minutes, that I will not be coming back to the boards until during or after the cruise.

If anything important comes up on the thread that you think I should know, send me a PM or an email (I'm much more likely to read a PM when I get a notice than to try to sift through dozens of pages of posts).

Can't wait to meet everyone very very soon!!:banana::banana:

Have a safe journey and I hope that you will enjoy your Med cruise as much as we did. See you on the 18th.

Finally got through to the podiatrit's office after being transferred arround a few times because we were a 'priority referral'. I am glad that you managed to get this sorted out.

I have to list also, but I will be doing it on our airline computer so not as bad as long as the website is up and running. Looks like I will have to go through Paris since I think everyone in the US is flying to BCN on our airline! That's a good thing. Good luck with your flights, we'll meet in Barcelona!

This was a new experience for me. Even though I have worked for an airline for over 4.5 years, I have only flown standby once and that was with our airline so I could make my own listing. Unfortunately we don't fly from USA to Europe. A lot of airlines now allow you to make listings online, but Virgin Atlantic is not quite so enlightened yet. Which airline do you work for?

Connie asked me to post a picture she took of our finished lanyard pin on the board.
finishedpin.jpg

That looks great. Thanks to Connie and Noel for arranging this for us.

Busy day here - it is my birthday! 51 years old, how did that happen :scared1:

disney_gang_birthday.gif

Corinna - when you say you were listing a flight - what does that mean?

As airline staff, I can fly standby. The tickets that we have are valid for up to three months, on three different airlines and to Manchester as well as to London. So that gives us maximum flexibility as we only get on if they have spare seats. A listing is just giving the airline notification that you intent to travel on a specific flight. They can then ensure that they have a meal on board for you. There is a rule that they can only allow you on the aircraft if they can provide you with a meal. Realistically airlines over-cater anyway. So I am currently listed for the first Orlando Manchester flight on October 7th. If I don't get on this, I can re-list myself at the airport for alternative flights. I will check the situation about 24 hours before and if it looks like there might be a problem, then I will contact BA to list myself on their Gatwick flight.

Oh no ..... on FB she says she thinks she missed the plane :sad2::sad2:

That is not good.

Laura, Andrew and Ken are spending the night in NYC....will try again tomorrow.....

I hope that they get on OK and that will be smooth sailing from here on.

I am sorry that Tortola took some damage from the Hurricane. I hope that it is not too bad and that they recover from this quickly.

It gorgeous in scotland today, a great day for shopping, NOT, back to phone shop, return a shirt to burtons, bought short sleeved instead of long, Len looks fab in his black shirt and trousers:lovestruc
Then last night my eagle eye Mum noticed that a swirly thing was falling off the new purple dress (thats what happens when you have a seamstress mum) normally I would just sew it but it was 130 quid so I am not messing with it, going to swap it today hopefully they will have another one....
Tell my my little cruise peeps.why is everything a hassle? :upsidedow

I need this holiday, :cool2:

Disney Cruise Line>>>>>>>>> Minnie Mouse doesn’t go on a trip without her polka-dot dress and Captain Hook can’t leave home without his hook. What’s your “must have” item when sailing on Disney Cruise Line?

Although Sarah made me laugh with her knockers,:lmao:
Just as well you werent telling something like..........

I got new big knockers today :rotfl2:

Here is my updated to do list. I am actually doing better than I thought. I had to add three things on. I am starting to accept that I am going to have to replace some of the jewellery kits that seem to have been lost by the postal service. I am still hoping that they will turn up, but if they have not turned up a week before I fly out, then I will get replacements. I also have been notified that the custom components for one Fish Extender gift that I commissioned about 6 months ago shipped on Wednesday. They are coming from the Netherlands, but I am am hoping that they arrive by next Wednesday the latest. So I then have to put them together. I am so glad that this will work out as they are my favourite gift and I was quite sad that I would not be able to give this.

I am sorry that you have problems with the dress and hope that they have a perfect one in stock.

Disney Cruise Line>>>>>>>>> Minnie Mouse doesn’t go on a trip without her polka-dot dress and Captain Hook can’t leave home without his hook. What’s your “must have” item when sailing on Disney Cruise Line?

I have a long list, but if I have to narrow it down to just one, then I would go for my Fish Extender. It always makes me smile when I walk up to our cabin and see my Fish Extender hanging next to the door.

Although Sarah made me laugh with her knockers,:lmao:
Just as well you werent telling something like..........

I got new big knockers today :rotfl2:

Door magnets!!!! Designing them is one my fave things (don't get many opportunities to let those creative juices flow nowadays) and it always makes me happy to see them on the stateroom door. Plus it's how I recognise mine...

Cannot believe we will be flying to Barcelona two weeks from today....just seems like we booked this cruise....OK...we booked it 2 years ago but it does seem like time has flown by......
Tom:cool1:

Thanks for posting the link for the map. I knew that one had been posted, but I did not dare trying to find it. I still have no clear idea where the ferry terminal is that we need to get to for the boat tour, but I am sure we can work it out.

According to the ferry booking agent, the cruise ships and the ferry share the same port. The actual address is on Waterport, which is the primary road from the port to the town.

Oh, I so agree everything is a hassle!

Can't get any shapewear, and I went to get my 'formal' dress lifted on the shoulders to be told the seamstress is on holiday and it would be 2 weeks.:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2: Anyway she will do it the morning she returns to work and it will be ready the afternoon before we leave. Why do i leave things to the last minute? One reason was finding somewhere to do it. Our normal place closed down, and the dry cleaners only do hems and the like, so it took a while to notice this place.

I hope your day goes better than you are expecting. I would buy something nice to make up for it!!!;)

2 weeks from today we are off!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am a little worried about Andrew and Laura today. Let me know how she makes out with Earl looming! What a nightmare and I hope none of us have to go through what she is going through.

I love the question about what we "have" to bring with us on a DCL. I would have to say it is my sock slippers. Sometimes I just wear them when we play games in the lounge or I go up to Deck 9 late at night for ice tea! I wear them at home all the time, and I always feel at home on The Magic! I was thinking magnets, but I will have to switch to slippers!

I wouldn't mind streaks but I am completely white in front and that is not a flattering look for me!!

LOL you would if you were 30! I was ID'd for wine in Marks on Saturday yet I have silver streaks that look nuts! Its mad!
