We just booked a Royal Room - anything we can expect? First time

If you mean at the GF, expect a wonderful stay! We stayed there last fall and it was beautiful. Convenient to so much dining and the parks. We overlooked the beachside pool. Just a wonderful expierience. Enjoy!

Absolutely love the royal rooms at Riverside! Stayed in one in 2013 and I am booked in one for November. We were in Oak Manor, building 90 garden view and loved the location.. It was only a 2-3 minute walk to the food court and south depot bus stop. The area has fountains and the grounds are beautiful and peaceful. The room decor is my favorite in a disney resort room I've stayed at so far. The room was very clean and the beds were comfortable. I will be requesting building 90 again, as I loved the location of our room being on the SW side, that faced the river and not the parking lots... our room faced the big fountain and they played a movie each night right there in the courtyard outside of our room, so that was nice. You won't be disappointed.

We just stayed there in May and they were gorgeous! Our daughter is 5 and she really loved the princess decor. They really didn't overlook any detail. Agree with tinkerbella16, we stayed in Oak Manor too and it was a great location. Super close to everything.

We normally request Close to foot bridge, Oak Manor, then floor level.

If you have kids, you can expect to get a letter from Tiana at check-in. This turned out to be great for us, because when we met her my son told her we'd stayed in one of her royal rooms and she asked him if he'd gotten her letter. He was thrilled.

Was just there with my 21 y/o dd and her best friend!! The girls loved the room!!!! We were in the front of Parterre Place, top floor. It was lovely. Quick walk to the main bldg and bus stop. Sadly, we didn't get the welcoming letter....perhaps because the girls were actually adults? It would have been nice, but it is what it is.

Isn't there a letter from Tiana as part of the round table in the room (kind of 'varnished' into the table top)? I may be wrong, but that's what I remember from our trip a couple of years ago.

Not necessarily. We started out in Oak Manor, but we were moved to Parterre Place because of an air conditioning problem. Our Parterre Place room was much closer to the foot bridge then Oak Manor.

Yes, that's what I remember as well, but not a letter at check in.

We used the foot bridge that led to the front of the resort. It was pretty handy...go straight and you were at the luggage area, good for getting to the buses. Take a right and you came out by the boat dock. Very quick walk from Parterre Place. Some like Oak Manor because it's closer to the main pool area.

Yes, the letter is in the tabletop, but we were also given a physical copy of the letter on nice paper, rolled up and tied with a ribbon, when we checked in. The CM told my kids that Tiana had left it there for them. I thought this was standard practice, but maybe we were the recipients of some pixie dust? It made for a nice souvenir. This was in March of this year.

We had that location too!! It was great. With back to river facing Centre courtyard we were in left side. End corner room opposite fountain. Close to elevator too which was helpful as I was recovering from knee surgery.

We were right there also, on the left if you were facing the fountain... 2nd floor room 9249, our room was next to the corner room. I loved that location and I am requesting a room through the Touring Plans room request fax that is in that same area, but I'll be happy as long as I am on that side of the building again where that fountain is. It is such a pretty area.

They gave my niece the letter at check-in when we went in November 2013. Wonder if they stopped giving them out. It was such a great keepsake, and she brought it into school for show and tell after the trip.

We just got back yesterday from our first stay in the Royal Rooms and absolutely loved it! The decor was fabulous and everything was very comfortable and clean. We had a river view in Parterre Place 2nd floor and it was perfect. The steps were right outside our door and then it was just over the bridge to get to food, bus stop,... We were also close to one of the quiet pools and found it to be very nice.

We didn't get a letter at all. We stayed in Sept 2014.

Anyway, my kids LOVED the room. They had a lot of fun playing on the magic carpet on the floor. They seem to have liked the room more than the AK bunk bed room we stayed on a few months prior.
