We stayed there back in December 2012 and I thought it was amazing! So many great Disney details and touches. Kids will go nuts for it, but we were 4 Disney adults who went nuts for it too!
We were there last July and received the letter at check in as well. We loved the royal rooms and we were in a standard view, we were on the ground floor in the corner so we didn't have much of a view but that was ok. It was quiet and a easy walk to the main building and the quiet pool.
We were right there also, on the left if you were facing the fountain... 2nd floor room 9249, our room was next to the corner room. I loved that location and I am requesting a room through the Touring Plans room request fax that is in that same area, but I'll be happy as long as I am on that side of the building again where that fountain is. It is such a pretty area.
I have stayed at Riverside 4 times and have never had bus issues, but that doesn't mean I never will. The South Depot has a screen with times the next bus will come for each park (at least they did in Nov 2013, anyone know if they have this?) We may have been lucky, but we never waited long. The only thing I hate, is how they pack people in like sardines at the end of the night. That is my only issue with the buses, but they do that to all the resorts.
I like to use the East Depot when I stay in Oak Manor (Royal Room) or Magnolia Terrace. It's close by behind parking lot and a lot less crowded and crazy then the Main Depot. The bus service is the same at any resort, for the majority of the time it runs well, but always get that one morning when 4 of every bus goes by but yours!
