Am I wrong in assuming OP is younger than most of us who LOVE COP and the ORIGINAL EPCOT?

The OP is "over 35" and remebers Epcot as it was being built. (I'm the DW...no age for me please )I also liked the wand but also think the ride needs some "fixing up". I however LOVE the COP!!!!! It's my ring tone and the kids and I sing it all the time while we drage DH onto the ride

We're really strange too because we like the Leave a Legacy tiles!

I loved the wand, it made it seem more..... disney?

When I first saw the picture of it without the crane and everything, I was really sad, it just looks bare and naked, and plain really.

I realise that what ever disney does its going to have some people that wont like the decision, but even the people that say they are pleased it's gone must admitt it looks a little boring now.

Maybe they should've left the little stars over the top or something, I don't think many people would have objected to that

I don't think it's boring at all.... epcot isn't supposed to be cartoony like mk.... the sphere fits MUCH Better into the theme of epcot completely clean. I think it's breathtaking without the frills...

I kind of skimmed through the first page of posts..

I know change is hard sometimes, but I trust taking the wand down will be ok.. and will look ok..

I didnt like when they took the gold trimmings off of the castle.. but i guess they have to make change.

The only thing that really bugs me out , you say (OP) COP? why would you want them to take that away? That makes me sad to even think about it.

When they first put that wand up there, I hated it, but then I just got used to it (although I still prefer it without the wand).

I thought that hat in MGM was pretty cute, now it's going to feel kind of empty there...

It's still the best place in Disney to flee from a heat stroke and grab a quick nap. And for that I love it ...with or without the wand.

I loved the classic look of Spaceship Earth and the wand destroyed that look. I also loved the view down Hollywood Blvd looking at the Great Movie Ride but now that's been ruined by Mickey's Sorcerer's Hat. One down and one to go....

Lastly I love the Carousel of Progress just the way it is but would love to see the last scene updated from time to time to keep current with today's technology.

No. The hat was just refurbished with new lighting effects. It's not going anywhere.

I'm thrilled to have the old SSE back- the wand was a nifty idea for 2000, but imho, dressing up the park icons is a little like putting clothes on a dog- it's kind of funny at first, but after a while, if you look at it too closely, it's just not right, man!

for me, it is more like seeing those anti-smoking posters/commercials that had animals smoking a cigarette...it's just not right...
I was so happy to hear that the wand was coming down...although I do have to admit that I loved the characters on the castle our last visit...I thought the golden figures were beautiful.
I am another that would be incredibly disappointed to see the CoP go. It belongs right were it is. but if some find it not exciting enough I have an idea to make it more of a thrill ride...they could spin it around really fast at the part were we transition into the present/future and it could be like one of those carnie rides that you get sucked to the walls...ya know a little anti-gravity could add some spice!
