Registering my complaint!!!

It was HORRIBLE -- and God Forbid if I was a bride and had planned on taking pictures by that castle. I often wonder what brides thought about it.

While I'm glad the wand is gone, I wouldn't mind if they took away the Tomb of the Unknown Tourists out from the front of Epcot, and put back the cool "Atari" fountain. :teeth:

:lmao: I totally agree! I can't stand the graveyard! I'll be sad to see the wand gone, only because my DD has never seen SE without it. Her first trip to Epcot was in 2000, so I'll be curious to see her reaction (in less than two days, baby! ) My first trip to Epcot was back in 1985, and I remember Horizons, Ellen's Energy Adventure pre-Ellen, and lots of open space around the lagoon!

And if they were going to remove a Tomorrowland attraction, I wish they'd bulldoze the Stitch attraction before they'd even touch Carousel of Progress. There is absolutely no way I'd ever go willingly to see the Stitch attraction again. I can't say that about any other attraction at WDW.

:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 Man, oh man, do I agree with this! I will have to be dragged kicking, screaming, and with the promise of the largest Rice Krispie Mickey head available at the end of the "attraction" to make me sit through Stitch again. :crazy2: CoP is a 'must-do' for DD14. It has been since our first trip together. Maybe teens *can* be sentimental. :confused3

I guess I have to register my complaint with this thread. :)

I love CoP. It is one of my favorite things on this planet. I'd like to see it rehabbed and the story updated, but I cherish it.

I hated the wand. Hated it. It was totally non-thematic, tacky, and an eyesore. I detested it when it was put up in 2000 or whenever it was, and that dislike never faded for me. The reason the big ball was bare when the park opened was that the ball was supposed to represent Earth. Putting a big flashy sign that first said "2000", and then "EPCOT", did not look much at all like Earth.

I love the ride Spaceship Earth. Yes, it has gotten stale in the story, like CoP, but it is worth the major rehab it is getting. It's one of our family's favorites.

And yes, I'd like to see the hat gone from MGM. I don't think it's that ugly or anything, but I do feel it's a waste of space.

My family loves IASW. Yes, it gets old to me, but not to my little girls. The expressions on my girls' faces makes this ride for me.

Not every ride needs to be a white-knuckle thrill ride. If you want that, there are plenty of parks that offer it.

So I just want to register my complete and total disagreement with every single point the OP made. :thumbsup2

Yep, that's all I have to say.

Move along folks. Nothing to see here. It was a "drive by" posting.........

Spaceship Earth has returned to most of it's original glory. The very people who want to change Disney into a wild ride themepark with no magic are the same ones who buy property in the country and call the cops at the loud mooooing from the cows next door.

Let's all enjoy the magic........

Oh, and THANK GOD that wand is down!!!! :)

I can think of no better place to lodge my complaint, (because no one else cares)

Why in the world would disney think it is a good idea to remove the magic wand from the Epcot ball....they had finally found something that distinguished the sphere. It was well lit up and made for a landmark you could see from other parts of the park.....we are now left with what we started with...A golf ball sitting on a tee!!!

I hate it when these things get over thought....A bunch of disney fanatics resembling a group of star trek conventioneers complain about the sanctity of the worlds biggest golf ball that houses the worlds worst ride.....I got an idea, how about we get the PGA tour to sponsor that hideous ride and we can build a giant tiger woods satue above the ball and he can be preparing to tee-off!!!!

these are the same people that find a way to keep the "carousel of progress" open, instead of a ride or attraction born of this century. If i ever decide to throw myself off a bridge, I will be singing "its a great big beutiful tommorow" all the way down!!!....the one good thing is I continue to have a place to take a 20 minute nap in the middle of the day besides "its a small world".

I mean c'mon, clearly we need to remove the sorcerers hat from MGM because it wasn't there when the park opened....I mean we must return the sanctity of that completely barren space!!!!

well, just had to get that off my chest....I feel better now

I am with you, I think think it looks too plain now as well. :sad2: However, I love the ride Spaceship earth!! So sad it will be being rehabed while we are there :(. Also I disagree with you about Carosel of progress. I think they should get rid of that damn tree house that no one goes in before they get rid of COP. BTY I truly believe little kids these days have no idea who the Swiss family Robinsons are.
Oh and by the way
:cheer2: :cheer2:GO PATS!!!!:cheer2: :cheer2:

And what would you put in place of the tree? I'm glad it's there, it's one of those attractions that will ALWAYS be a walk on, literally, so you're able to do at least one attraction with little effort. Plus, who doesn't love climbing in a tree and see how they actually might have lived in that tree. I wonder how many times they had to run up to the top to get back down, through the exit, and back through the entrance turnstyle to use the bathroom?

I agree glad to seee the wand gone. Our kids have never seen SE without the wand and were creeped out to see it coming down. We all love COP and SE must for every trip. Rode COP with kids three times this summer they love it.

I don't mind Spaceship Earth with or without the wand. I think it's very visually compelling without the wand, but it was a little more Disney with it. I don't mind it either way though, and it will be nice to see it again without the wand, been awhile since I've seen it that way.

As far as Carousel of Progress goes, I really like that attraction, and that song, and would be sad if it closed.

*takes a deep breath*

1. Do you come from a city where a sphere sits somewhere in your city?

He (she?) does not. I am just a few minutes away from him (plus one of my best friends lives there) and can attest that there is no giant, geodesic sphere in Norton.:rotfl:

DO NOT FEED THE TROLL!!

oh and GO LIVERPOOL FC!!

I am glad the ball is back to the way it was. I was one who didn't care for the wand. After a while, I got used to it, but I never LIKED it and am honestly glad it is gone.

Spaceship Earth is my favorite ride in Epcot. :)

I also like CoP and its song. A lot. One of my favorites. (I don't sing along, though.)

And I like WDW. So sue me.

I'm nervous about the SE refurb... do you think it is just a little touch up work or major re-do? I really love it and people don't like the end but the part with the stars and the lights ("information highway") I LOVE.. especially the music. I could listen to that track over and over. Last time I was at disney my ex and I rode SE about 8 times... and could've done it more. The parks were basically bare and we had it mostly to ourselves and it was so relaxing and I LOVE that music.

When is this refurb (please don't be closed when I go!) and what are they doing? Anybody know? I know the tracks need to be made smoother....

All this from a guy who lives in state that continues to reelect Ted Kennedy? I mean, talk about some strong feelings about attractions at WDW.

uh yeah, we can stop the negative remarks about Massachusetts now please.

Thanks.

Im indifferent to the wand, but the one thing I can't stand, is the Disney purists!
Disneyland will never be a museum to the past.
Walt Disney

Walt himself said that Disney would change and evolve, it would never be finished. Yet there are so many people who complain about any and all changes. They have this "finished" version of Disneyworld in their minds and any alterations to it are pure heresy! The list goes on and on:

The wand
The hat
Too much Pixar
Replacing old attractions
etc, etc..

No offense Disney purists, but Swiss Family Treehouse sucks, ok? Im going on 29 yrs old and I've never seen the Swiss Family Robinsons, so I guarantee you my niece and nephew surely have no clue who they are! And I even grew up in a house where my father occasionally watched that show! Yet if there was mention of its replacement, the Disney purists would ask for Igers head.

Im not saying Disney doesn't make mistakes, because I think they do. I would also agree that some older attractions may be better than their current replacements ( AE / Stitch ), but you gotta let it go. Move on! Eventually Stitch will be replaced with something else, the Tomorrowland Speedway will get a refurb, maybe even to a CARS theme!! But don't worry, it will be ok, because eventually that will be gone too.

If Walt was willing to change and evolve, then shouldn't we all? After all, he is the one who gave us this place, and left us with his direction.

The above bolding is mine

I don't know how in the same post you can say you can't stand Disney purists, (which sounds pretty darn harsh) then go on to say you mean no offense to Disney purists. Saying 'no offense' just means you are about to, or just said something that could be offensive.

I'm thrilled to have the old SSE back- the wand was a nifty idea for 2000, but imho, dressing up the park icons is a little like putting clothes on a dog- it's kind of funny at first, but after a while, if you look at it too closely, it's just not right, man! ;)
