It's Almost 2026, Would You Buy a 2042 Resort?

Absolutely! The 2042 contracts are great options for folks who don't want long term commitment, but still want to enjoy Disney! We just bought (3) OKW 2042 contracts with 2042 expiration date and backdated points, so always a great option.
Hasn’t stayed at OKW. With that being said, the point chart is hard to beat. One big negative it appears is the spread out resort.

Boardwalk give its point chart a run for its money. Long hallways at Boardwalk. But much more desirable location for most people.
Not opposed to buying BWV. Part of me thinks a 2042 would have been better for us.

But my spouse said AKV since it’s the only one we know lol. Worse case scenario we can hopefully sell it back should we decide to get out of DVC.

I still think you will end up with more than your 50 points so maybe you’ll own both ;)

Actually had a longer paragraph there but removed it. Spouse wants to see how it plays out, which I understand. Before you know it we’ll be owning 100+ points at the Poly cruising on the monorail lol.
You and me need to stick together with our low point contracts (hoping mine goes through). Stay a team. Resist the add-on-itis!

Early in my timeshare journey, I ended up falling bass-ackwards into a situation that could get me DVC villas on the cheap. This was thanks to a no-name "stalking horse" that I bought to help me judge how to exchange my primary points-based ownership; that week also happened to be dual-enrolled and a good trader in its own right. But, I couldn't use that week as a trader and use it as a stalking horse, so I advocated buying another one just like it.

I got a lot of pushback on that. "We don't need another timeshare." So, I let it be.

Fast forward six months or so to our first DVC exchange, in a 1BR at OKW. We'd done the Windsor Hills thing several years prior to that, so my then-soupse had that as a comparison point. About halfway through the week, we got off the MK->OKW bus, and the kids were running a bit ahead to the unit. As we were walking, my then-spouse looked at me and said: "Whatever you have to do to keep doing this, do it."

And that was that.

Coda: Thank goodness we did not go on a DVC tour that day, or we'd've been in hock up to our eyeballs.
