Registering my complaint!!!

DON'T be messing with my Carousel of Progress, and I, just one of many, am thrilled the Wand is gone! :)

If you are looking for a thrill-a-minute AMUSEMENT park, there are plenty out, but WDW is a classic THEME park I love it just the way it is, err, was! :)

Gmboy you wrote a great, witty, and accurate post!
Totally agree with you! Why don't you pop over the the TPC in your town this week and see if you can get a golfer to sponsor an new decoration!
I love the EPCOT wand, and when we were there last week, it looked terrible without it! As for SSE, I also love the ride and look forward to the nap and A/C!

Oh, I don't know...I think the crane adds a little something to the pic! :confused3

So does that blonde girl! ;)

I love them both and Im 19. I also love thrill rides, slow rides, tall rides, short rides, long rides, quick rides, spinny rides, 3d rides, funny rides, sad rides, outdoor rides, indoor rides- heck, I even like green rides. However, I do not like It's a small world. Ride it everytime but just don't enjoy it. lol- I guess overall you can say Im easy.

I can think of no better place to lodge my complaint, (because no one else cares)

Why in the world would disney think it is a good idea to remove the magic wand from the Epcot ball....they had finally found something that distinguished the sphere. It was well lit up and made for a landmark you could see from other parts of the park.....we are now left with what we started with...A golf ball sitting on a tee!!!

I hate it when these things get over thought....A bunch of disney fanatics resembling a group of star trek conventioneers complain about the sanctity of the worlds biggest golf ball that houses the worlds worst ride.....I got an idea, how about we get the PGA tour to sponsor that hideous ride and we can build a giant tiger woods satue above the ball and he can be preparing to tee-off!!!!

these are the same people that find a way to keep the "carousel of progress" open, instead of a ride or attraction born of this century. If i ever decide to throw myself off a bridge, I will be singing "its a great big beutiful tommorow" all the way down!!!....the one good thing is I continue to have a place to take a 20 minute nap in the middle of the day besides "its a small world".

I mean c'mon, clearly we need to remove the sorcerers hat from MGM because it wasn't there when the park opened....I mean we must return the sanctity of that completely barren space!!!!

well, just had to get that off my chest....I feel better now

I pretty much disagree with you on everything but this...

I mean c'mon, clearly we need to remove the sorcerers hat from MGM because it wasn't there when the park opened....I mean we must return the sanctity of that completely barren space!!!!

and I guess you weren't really serious. :lmao:

We're all allowed to have our opinions and I'm glad you got to get it all off of your chest.

Im indifferent to the wand, but the one thing I can't stand, is the Disney purists!

Disneyland will never be a museum to the past.
- Walt Disney

Walt himself said that Disney would change and evolve, it would never be finished. Yet there are so many people who complain about any and all changes. They have this "finished" version of Disneyworld in their minds and any alterations to it are pure heresy! The list goes on and on:

The wand
The hat
Too much Pixar
Replacing old attractions
etc, etc..

No offense Disney purists, but Swiss Family Treehouse sucks, ok? Im going on 29 yrs old and I've never seen the Swiss Family Robinsons, so I guarantee you my niece and nephew surely have no clue who they are! And I even grew up in a house where my father occasionally watched that show! Yet if there was mention of its replacement, the Disney purists would ask for Igers head.

Im not saying Disney doesn't make mistakes, because I think they do. I would also agree that some older attractions may be better than their current replacements ( AE / Stitch ), but you gotta let it go. Move on! Eventually Stitch will be replaced with something else, the Tomorrowland Speedway will get a refurb, maybe even to a CARS theme!! But don't worry, it will be ok, because eventually that will be gone too.

If Walt was willing to change and evolve, then shouldn't we all? After all, he is the one who gave us this place, and left us with his direction.

*takes a deep breath*

1. Do you come from a city where a sphere sits somewhere in your city? I dont. I cant think of many places in the world that have that sort of building, and anyone saying that it looks 'naked' without the wand, needs to take a step back and remember that it is an amazing structure within itself. It doesnt need extra flash, it IS flash.

2. Have you ever ridden Spaceship Earth? I know youve fallen asleep on it. But have you ridden it? I almost always exit that ride feeling a sort of closeness with the world around me. And always astounded that I never think of communication and how it really effects our world. I get chills, THINKING about the music that plays as you're going backward. Yes the ride mechanism itself is old and sometimes faulty.

3. Everyone has a different opinion... but please dont liken those of us who like removal of the wand, to 'Star Trekkies'. Im no Disney purist, but I remember seeing the ball as a kid and it taking my breath away like the castle. I still cant wrap my mind around the fact that there is a ride in there, and when Im in there that im sitting in that structure. Its amazing.

The wand was an eyesore. The Magic Kingdom doesnt have a big banner on the castle that says 'MAGIC KINGDOM'. You should know where you are, not need a weenie within a weenie to draw your attention to somethings thats 180 feet tall.

Also - ive never, ever seen it as a golf ball. Golf balls are white, not silver. And have indents in the shape of circles, not triangles. Its a symbol of the future that the 80's dreamt up. And its nostalgic for me.

I dont mind if you dont like it, but on something you cant change ... why not try to view something about it positivly? Or at least try to look at it from another perspective.

:thumbsup2

"I'm a fan of CoP, and, to be honest, what's wrong with a ride that my grandmother loves??"

I think you just nailed it..and I'm a grandparent...
..It's so far out of date it's nauseating...but gets points somehow for being around when Walt was..whooppee...he's been gone for almost 40 years now...Time to move on......and I'm a Disney nut, with three rooms of my house full of their stuff:cool1: --different strokes

I wouldn't go so far as to say nauseating but I understand in this day and age why middle aged adults of today would think it is lame. Let's look at it in another direction, that being history. Don't you think it might be just a little interesting to young people that have never seen anything other than microwave's and HDTV?

My kids were fascinated by the way things were back way before even I was born. They have no other point of reference, they think things have always been like it is now. I remember the first time they saw a TV program (oldie) that was broadcast in Black & White. Both of them rushed up to adjust the TV and ran to tell me that something was wrong with the set because there was no color.

Approached the right way it can be a very informative and useful display. In this age of thrills and fast paced living, there doesn't seem to be anymore room for history. Too Bad! Knowing how we got to this point can be enthralling when presented in an entertaining manner.

BTW, has anyone noticed that the OP has only posted on this thread twice and that was in the very beginning then left it for us to fight out. I think we have been trolled.

:rolleyes1

The best part about the Cakestle was that I knew it was temporary.
The worst part of the 2000 wand was when the numbers were replaced by Epcot.

I'm with the group who find the beauty in simplicity. I didn't didn't to be knocked over the head with a wand to tell me I was in Epcot. And since you were asking if we should remove the Sorcerer Mickey hat from the Studios...I would love that. But sadly, the owners of the real Chinese Theater don't want it to be seen from the park entrance.

While I'm glad the wand is gone, I wouldn't mind if they took away the Tomb of the Unknown Tourists out from the front of Epcot, and put back the cool "Atari" fountain. :teeth:

And if they were going to remove a Tomorrowland attraction, I wish they'd bulldoze the Stitch attraction before they'd even touch Carousel of Progress. There is absolutely no way I'd ever go willingly to see the Stitch attraction again. I can't say that about any other attraction at WDW.

Well someone is a cranky pants lol.

I am SO glad that the wand is going... I mean it was a frickin floating arm attached to nothing. Yuck

As for the hat, it needs to go as well, a better place for it would be at the entrance to Fantasmic. Hopefully they will take that sucker out next!!

Oh my. :::::fans self::::: I LOVE LOVE LOVE the Spaceship Earth ride!!! It is my FAVORITE ride in all of WDW. :cloud9:

Of all the 19 times I have been to WDW I have only been to the C of Progress once, last week. I loved it!! I thought it was so cute and a good way to cool off.

Different Strokes! and that is fiiiinnnnnneee with me because the less people who love my rides, the less wait time in line I have!

I have never seen the ball without the wand. I liked the wand and I think the Epcot ball looks a little plain without it. But I'm fine with it and will still enjoy Spaceship Earth and Epcot on my next visit. :cool1:

we can build a giant tiger woods satue above the ball and he can be preparing to tee-off!!!!

Simple...because if they brought HIM into The World, I'd never return. :thumbsup2

Oh, and I love CoP, I like the hat, and I like SE w/o the wand. And all of this for no other reason besides I do!

Oh, and Go Bills.

I did a happy dance when I heard that horrid wand was coming down. I'm 28 and grew up going to Disney and LOVE LOVE LOVE Spaceship Earth in it's nakedness. I remember being amazed as a child that there was a ride in there.

As for CoP - it's one of my top 5 rides at Disney and a "must do" for me.

I didn't even know there was a wand till recently when I started planning our trip. But I'm 27 and I feel the same way about Spaceship Earth!
