Hi all, looking for next years flights and need some advice we have only flown direct to Florida but might go indirect this time....

We can get direct flights for about £2000 from LGW ( takes us about 4 hours to drive there ) or indirect from BHX for about £1750 ( takes us 30 mins to get there ) indirect are not to bad just via Frankfurt with about 1hr 30mins gap..

What would you do, as we have never flown indirect im hesitant but dont really want to fly from LGW :confused3

Ta :thumbsup2

I'd look for indirect but with a stop in the US/Canada/Dublin rather than Frankfurt. The problem with flying via Frankfurt is that you still don't clear immigration until you get to Orlando. Plus, you're flying "back" on yourself.

Your trip is still a long way off and flights are only just available, so there's no rush. How many are travelling?

Thanks for reply... Yes would like to fly via US but nothing showing up.. We have to August school holidays . 2adults & DD 10..
We paid OTT for direct last year, and have said I'm not paying more than £2000 this time...

Flights aren't released until 11 months before. You will have much more choice by the start of October.

I set myself up to get alerts of price changes on Sky scanner Expedia and Kayak, I looked for months last year for this August but still ended up going direct. We found the price difference from Manchester not enough to warrant the hassle. I know a lot of people who were waiting for a big price dip but it never came, don't know if Virgin buying Delta had anything to do with it!

Yep its a tough one we always have flown direct and yes that price drop never happened last year :confused3

we are looking for similar time !! at the moment unless i see some major deals its looking unlikely we will go !!there are 5 of us!!

if nothing better comes u i would go with the indirect its really easy we did it last time and any money saved is extra dollars :)

You can clear US immigration in Toronto. Air Canada are generally fine, can be a bit hit and miss. My last flight included a long delay outbound and no IFE inbound but would use them again if they came out cheapest as nothing worse than any other airline.

Bonus of Frankfurt is the longer transatlantic leg so more time on a bigger plane, with more potential for sleep. It's only like 7-8 hours to Toronto, then another 3 to Orlando - all fragmented.

Thanks for reply.. Guess plus and minus for both flights.. Guess delays and IFE can happen any any flights as you say, clearing US immigration in Canada is a big help but MCO seems to have got there house in order this year.. Still not sure what to do might wait for United & Delta to release flights in few weeks but risk losing a good price ...

You can fly from BHX on United via Newark, easy trip. Prices not out for about another month. We have done Heathrow/Newark/Orlando, Aug 13, got fab glitch price. There were BHX flights at the time, but the layover was too many hours for my liking!

I really would just wait until you have all the options avaiłable to you. There are lots of options and you're bound to find something that suits.

My experience of booking indirect a long way in advance (6 months or more) is that it undoubtedly results in times changing somehow anyway, which potentially could result in you being rerouted - so make sure you get "what you want" when you book so you can push for similar flights if the airline makes changes.

We booked last night, We decided that next year we also wanted to try and visit the Key's for a few days.. So we jumped last night, direct fights from Manchester to Orlando and Back home Miami - Manchester. 19/8 - 4/9 total cost £1830, 2 Adults and DD 9... Happy Days and Planning ahead to come now....
