Once again my family has forgotten how much we give to mousekeeping. Both for the trash/towel day and for the full service. How much should we leave on both days.

You will get a wide variety of answers on this, ranging from $0 to $20. Personally, for a 2br, I leave $5 for trash & towel, and $20 for a full cleaning. That is just me, and there really is no correct answer.

Good luck.....

Thanks a bunch, Maistre Gracey. We are making our Mousekeeping envelopes up tomorrorw before we leave. Otherwise we will be spending that money on Disney gifts.

I also do $5 for T&T, but I do $15 for a full cleaning (1BR). I also have all the garbage bagged and tied, the dishes in the dishwasher running, sofabed stripped, all towels in the laundry basket, etc. before I leave, so I probably knock off a good 15 minutes of work for them.

we (for a 2BR) start at $5 for towle day and $10 for full cleaning and add money depending upon how much help they have been (if we need extra towels, or if we have left the place particularly messy - not likey, but with young children it happens).

I think $5 and $20 is a very reasonable way to go....

Thanks for all the responses. This helps a lot.

We call and cancel T&T day. Tip $5 to $10 on full cleaning day. It depends on how messy we are, and we are usually pretty clean.

This topic comes up from time to time on this board. The outcome usually seems to be that although housekeeping at DVC resorts is officially a non-tipped position, many DVC members like to tip anyway. And that's great.

However, if you look at some of the replies in this thread and in previous, similar threads, you might get the idea that it's common and customary to leave $5 on trash & towel day and $10-$20 at check-out. There was even someone who previously posted about tipping at check-out, based on $10 per day. (Given that there's no daily housekeeping unless you pay extra, I have difficulty understanding the logic of tipping on a "per day" basis at check-out.) I think such generous tips are the exception, not the rule.

My guess is that most DVC members don't tip housekeeping at all, or at least not on trash & towel day. Non-tippers and moderate tippers are much less likely to respond to a thread such as this than very generous tippers.

At a DVC resort, I typically leave a $5 bill for housekeeping on a master bedroom pillow on the morning that we check out. Sometimes more. I consider it a small "thank you" for the service they provide, not an obligation. No special envelopes are needed. Housekeepers know what to do with money on a bed pillow.

So, leave a tip for housekeeping if you wish, but don't feel that you're obligated to leave $5 on trash & towel day and $10-$20 on a full-cleaning day and at check-out.
