Good luck toWaiting at the cardio vet with the furball- she is being good so far
Thank you. We are home and she did really well! Her heart murmur is very mild, no medication needed, and she is a "reasonable candidate for anesthesia" if they need to do surgery for the other thing.Good luck to![]()
I was born on a Friday. I have no idea how my name was chosen.Continuing kitty extra prayers dear Pollyannamom.
Lynn, please take good care and stay cool!
Good afternoon friends. Quiet around here which is lovely. Dad shared with me on Monday that one reason I was named Mona was because I was born on a Monday. What day of the week were you born? To anyone who is comfortable sharing, do you know why you were given your name or if you prefer why, you chose your child's or even pet's name? I just looked and my dad was born on a Friday. Grandpa Sam on a Thursday way back in 1917 and Grandma Dolores on a Friday in 1918. Our dog Champ was also born on a Friday in 1989. Just interesting to think about
Happy rest of Wednesday to all![]()
Good morning, welcome to day whatever of this continued heat. We're going to hit 99 again today. I can't take much more of not being able to go outside and enjoy a little bit of summer. They keep saying we'll get storms, but none materialize.
I swear the heat is affecting everything. I was in Aldi's yesterday and their U Scans kept stopping. Then in Walmart, their U Scans and registers were extremely slow and lagging. I had to get a customer service person 3x just to get through my order. Then it told me my Visa was declined, yet the receipt came out showing I had paid? I ordered something online last night and got an order #, but no confirmation email. I called the company this morning and she said my order was stuck in error state and not fully submitted. Which seems strange, since I got an order @ and the money came out of my bank. She resubmitted it and sent me the confirmation. She made sure there was only 1 charge for it.
Then I bought something on Ebay, and tried to send the seller a message asking why my order was shipped ground advantage instead of priority mail as stated in the auction description. I opened a request asking for a partial refund on the shipping cost. I didn't pay for priority mail to have it take until next Tuesday to get here. For some reason, Ebay sent the message 13 times. I got them to call me and she insisted it was an error with my internet, until she looked at the messages and saw that it was really sent that many times. That was when she found a notice that the messaging system was having errors. No kidding, I tried telling her that 3x, lol This all after a message on the page saying 'try our new upgraded messaging system', no thank you!
Summer asked me last night if I could loan her some money so she could take the girls to the beach for a few days. I felt bad, but I had to say no. I recently paid to have both of her cars fixed for her. I have my own upcoming vacations to pay for, as well as property taxes which just came out. She should be paying her bills, not spending hundreds on a hotel room. Instead of looking at rooms that are $80 or so a night a little farther down the beach, she's looking at beachfront rooms that cost $200 or more. She will never get her priorities straight.
Off to put laundry in and get something done. @Snowysmom - once again, good thoughts sent Kenny's way, in hopes that they actually get the arbitration done.
Happy August to all my Quacker family!

Ocean City. She wanted to stay where Don and I had stayed the last few times we went down. The Quality Inn Oceanfront. The last time we were there I think we paid maybe $125. I just looked up what she was talking about, and it says the total for 2 nights for 3 adults is $893, plus an additional $97 in fees? That's crazy! I could see that in a newer hotel, but not there. She said most of the places she looked were between $200 and $600 a night. Not sure what beach Summer was trying to go to, but finding a room for even $200 that is fit for 'me' to sleep in is rough

She should be trying down the other end near Fenwick Island or even going down into Rehoboth. She had looked online at some of those that were like $80-100 a night, but she says they're not good enough. It's not that far to drive to OC from there. If you're on a limited budget, you have to plan smart. Meals down there are expensive, as are souvenirs, etc.
We always went in September, after Labor Day. A lot less crowded! Those are crazy prices for a hotel room for one night!!!This is why I collect points with my credit cards.
Hyatt is right next door to you and Don's Quality Inn (I think - 16th St?) There is another Quality Inn further north but I'm not familiar with it.
The cash rate at Hyatt for my Saturday night room is $783 plus taxes of I think it's 11%. So roughly $870 for one night. I transferred points into my Hyatt Hotel rewards account from my Chase credit card account and will pay 29000 points. The least they are worth is $290 which I could cash them out for. This hotel was built in 2017 or 2018, not exactly remembering which year, but I stayed right after it opened for a bit over $125 or so end of September or early October. The prices have risen that much. The hotel is decent but showing some age as it doesn't take long. The people are nice and I like it. But I can't afford it at over $800 or let's say I won't pay that.
I've also stayed at the Quality Inn next door, but maybe 20 years ago, and the Holiday Inn on the other side of it almost every year since it opened in 2001, plus the Courtyard Marriott on the south side of the Hyatt. My favorite is the Holiday Inn and Suites - it's been renovated last year and is quite nice, but I couldn't get a room on the weekend booking last minute. Before these we used to stay further north at what was a Sheraton and also the other Holiday Inn at 6600 Coastal Hwy. Every so often I'll drop in there for a meal. I've stayed outside at various places also, but now I just like to have that balcony looking out at the ocean for at least 1 or 2 nights in summer.
In October the prices will drop for all of them, but summer prices are crazy. June, July and August are when they make enough money to stay open for the other 9 months. If lucky you can get some decent weather in October.
Rehoboth is getting expensive also. The whole coast is very popular and filled with out of state cars from all the surrounding states all the way into New York. The traffic is bad on the weekends, another reason why I like the area I stay in. You can get food without driving too much. Check out the prices down in Chincoteague - they are almost as bad.
