Another disturbing news day. 🥲

I caught up on some extra sleep this morning. Still feeling the jet lag.

I did lots of laundry yesterday. Today is a vacuum day, we have a lot of hair around since we got a German Shepherd again. At least I blew a lot of it off of Grady the other day so that should cut down on it for a while.

Last night caught up with All Creatures Great and Small. I think I’m ready to resume The Crown now. Gilmore Girls sucked up most of the summer, lol, then Outlander catch up (which was well worth it).

DS has a big day on Saturday job-wise. Please send good thoughts for him, and prayers if you’re inclined. 🙏🏻

Enjoy this Thursday! 🐥 (I can’t believe it’s Thursday already, where has this week gone??)

@Pea-n-Me , looking forward to next season!

DD said it’s showing now in the UK. She got an app last season where she was able to watch it early here. She mentioned she could do it again if we wanted to see it. Having read the book series a couple of times, I already know how it’s going to turn out, lol. But it is tempting. It’s such a wholesome show! (Never did enjoy the BBC version - did you?)

@Pea-n-Me Glad you were able to get some extra rest. Love the pictures of landing in Boston. Chris always took pictures of takeoffs and landings when we flew.

I was in the office today. Now back at the condo and took a walk. A beautiful hawk was showing off for me. He or she was flying around above me catching the wind under their wings and just gliding. I had to stop and watch. Then the hawk flew off to the woods. Yesterday I walked at a park in Kenny's town. It is very woodsy and dirt paths. I saw grasshoppers jumping all over the place and lovely yellow butterflies flying around and sometimes right in front of me. I also saw a dragonfly which is unusual for this time of year. I am going to Kenny's in a bit to have pizza and watch the kids carve pumpkins. I took off tomorrow as I need to use up PTO. I am going to buy a stepladder, try to stop at Market
Basket just for a quick stop, and go back to my old area to have lunch with my wonderful friend. It is hard to go back there but I try to stay away from areas that make me cry.

Have a good day.

I read all the books too!

Speaking of binge watching, I just watched the 12 seasons of Call the Midwife. I really enjoyed it, I laughed and I cried. I miss it now that I finished. Did any of you watch this series?
I went to the ortho today about my knee, I have had nothing but trouble since my knee replacement almost 2 years ago. He said the joint is loose, I do not want another surgery! He gave me a brace and a recommendation for lymphoma therapy. At any rate I will not do anything for a few months so I am on Medicare.
It is a very dreary day here, raining off and on.

:grouphug:Dazed and much prayer. Please PM me should you ever change your mind about some happy mail. What a blessing it would be for me to send you some!

I need to re-read on Kindle the James Herriot books one day :)

I finally did make some good progress healthcare wise today. I will follow up on Monday. Looking again now for better slippers. The ones I did get are a huge improvement over what I did have. They are though a bit too wide and big which is not helpful.

Wishing all of you a happy rest of the day with love.

Well the tree won't be coming down this weekend. Travis called all around, and no one has one for at least a week. So we're going to shoot for next weekend. Not calling for rain, but temps will only be mid 50's then. We're going to go down to a few of the places tomorrow and see if we can reserve one for sure for next Saturday. The place I stopped at yesterday gave him a totally different quote than they gave me. So now they've given us 4 different prices. I'm not thrilled about using them, but they are the closest and in the end, the least expensive for the equipment and delivery

Grilled burgers outside tonight, we got up to 80, it's still 74 and only going down to 60 overnight. That means I can sleep with the windows open!

Have a nice evening

It's going to be near 80 today. Warm right through the weekend, last blast of Summer maybe?

Gilmore Girls sucked up most of the summer, lol
I recently re-watched Gilmore Girls too :goodvibes - one of my faves, and definitely a comfort show for me.

Yes - I love Call the Midwife! - I've watched each season as it came on PBS and also read the books.

Grilled burgers? What a simple yet yummy dinner choice. Too cold for outdoor cooking on this end unfortunately. On the other hand our chilly weather here has me making quarts of stock and soups for later good eats. How did I live without a pressure cooker?

GL with the tree pricing and be your best to all!

After scrolling thru some of the recent posts I see that I am probably in the minority in the tv series and books that I like.

To name a few series::
Billions, Dark Winds, Jack Ryan, Gold Rush (my DW always says it is the same show over and over, something always breaking down, moving the wash plants etc)

Authors - Vince Flynn, Mark Greaney, Tom Clancy, Mark Meltzer

That’s what’s nice about this thread, we have different interests and can learn from eachother!

Dazedx3 So sorry about your knee. I hope you get some relief with treatment the doctor prescribed. Glad you enjoyed Call the Midwife.

Good morning. Another warm one today. I am off work today. I will be going out soon for some errands. I like to watch the old sitcoms like Reba, Raymond, and other comedies. The newer stuff does not really interest me right now. I did watch the first few seasons of Call The Midwife and liked that. Chris and I started watching The Crown but didn't get too far. Maybe some day I will start over. I mainly read contemporary fiction now. I also like reading about British History and have read some good books about Churchill and Queen Elizabeth. And Jane Austen is one of my favorite authors.

Have a good day.

Good morning. Cloudy and a few sprinkles, but the sun is trying to come out and we'll be near 77 today. @PollyannaMom I loved that '12 Seasons of New England', how true! Even here in MD it's been spot on. My friend in CO is supposed to be 30 all weekend and get 5" of snow. She says it's their 'first taste of winter, to be followed by much more", lol. No thank you.

I'm so undecided on what to do with the tree. I don't really want to deal with the place who's given us 4 totally different quotes for exactly the same thing. I hope we can go to a couple of other places today and get some better information and maybe a definite 'yes you can get the equipment next weekend' reservation.

I'm so not into tv anymore. Other than Survivor, that's really my own must see show, and I'm lagging behind even on that. The lack of new and interesting shows isn't helping either.

Off to clean the bathrooms and the litter boxes.

Have a great last Friday of October!

Extra :hug:Dazed. I sure also love that God brought our family together and of course has kept us together, varying interests in all. What matters is the faith, love, and genuine care we share. I sure thank each of you for you always and God for you, too. Happy 📺watching to all and have a great Friday, too.

Hey there everyone, hope you are all enjoying something like the wonderful weather we have today & tomorrow! Sunny, pleasant and about 75 or 80 degrees.

Nothing great or exciting going on this weekend w/ us. Youngest & DIL will be over for the weekend I think - we'll probably have a bonfire tomorrow evening. Maybe go out for lunch and/or a drive on Sunday.

I'm just about ready to start my 'way over thinking it Thanksgiving pre-list lists and inventoring my china even though it's not changed since last year' fretting ;) Right now I'm thinking it is looking like we will be hosting15...maybe 17. A nice amount of folks...I love a boisterous full house for Thanksgiving afternoon so I'm glad to be expecting a small crowd! I'll start roughing up my menu as well - although it's not like it's anything spectacularly different that requires me to go over it, but I will!
Speaking of Thanksgiving - I've got some Kohls cash burning a hole in my pocket, I think I'm going to treat myself to a new electric knife. The one I inherited from my Mothers kitchen about 20 years back has finally bit the dust.

'm going to Houston with James on Thursday. He is having his 6 month bone marrow test. He's doing really well. I hope that the test shows that he is still doing good.
I'm really glad to read that is doing so well.
It cost well over $600 to board the two dogs.
Ugh, I hear ya. We stopped boarding when our niece started staying at our house with them but it still costs us about the same (plus a week's worth of groceries!) but it's nice #1 that the dogs get to stay home and #2 there is no schlepping them to and from the vets which is 45 minutes from us. I don't know what I'm going to do if my niece can no longer house/pet sit for us.
He's going to call around tomorrow and see if he can find another company that will have one this weekend.
hmmm I wonder - is there a United Rentals or Cater Cat up your way? I think there is one in Winchester & Hagerstown - those are probably to far from you though for it to remain economically feasable- Or maybe a tree service could get the trees down w/ their equipment and you can just have the other guy clear them out after the fact?
We have a few trees we need to take down as well. It's to bad we don't live a lot closer, I'd send one of the kids over with a excavator and get it down for you.
good to see a fresh face around these parts! Welcome to the conversation.
Currently baking cookies and watching horror movies on my laptop. This is the life.
Hey - doesn't sound to bad! I think we are going to watch the second Conjuring or maybe Insideous this weekend. Watched the first Conjuring (I find the Warren's facinating) last weekend. I'm not huge into scary movies - I'm a wimp BUT over the past several years I've started enjoying one here or there. I don't have a very varried or sophisticated taste in horror movies though!
I have some cookie dough in the freezer (store bough because I'm rubbish with baking) maybe I'll follow your lead and make some cookies this weekend.
Last night caught up with All Creatures Great and Small. I think I’m ready to resume The Crown now. Gilmore Girls sucked up most of the summer, lol, then Outlander catch up (which was well worth it).
Ok - The Outlander. I'm familiar with the books, and the TV shows- but they aren't something I've watched although we did enjoy the book & the show written by the two guys from Outlander BUT BUT BUT I'm having a interesting time at the moment...we are in the midst of researching/planning a trip to Scotland next fall. Every flipping tour or tourist guide seem to think everyone is a Highlander fan and seem to be geared towards those folks.
Speaking of binge watching, I just watched the 12 seasons of Call the Midwife.
I've been thinking of starting this series. Probably will soon -
We just finished re-watching Doc Martin start to finish, and I finally got around to watching the second Good Omens (they are making a third yay!) and we finished the 2nd season of Clarkson's Farm. I need to create a list of shows we want to watch and at least then I'd have a response to 'what should we watch tonight?"
I went to the ortho today about my knee,
Hope they can help you with your issue. My husband needs to go - he fouled up his knee during the Parents vs. the Kids soccer game at the end of soccer season about 20 years ago and had to have surgery then. It's really been bugging him of late.

Solar guy just left. - Of course, the system is no longer having the problem we called him about. :lmao: But he gave us some monitoring instructions, so we know exactly what to look for and what to write down for him going forward.

Other than that, it's a pretty quiet day. The sun is going in and out, but it's not too hot yet. I "walked" both the cats, and talked on the phone with my niece. I have some stew beef in the croc pot with BBQ sauce. - I think I'll shred it and make quesadillas, since I have some tortillas I need to use up.

Currently reading: too many books at once, as usual. 📚 I have a "cozy mystery" going, a biography of Robert Ingersoll, and this one (just started) from the library because it matches a class I'm taking:

Oh, and "The Body Keeps the Score" on Audible.
