Quarantine and chill and kindness chatty clubhouse: Jump in and join the conversation! All is welcome!

:wave:Good Morning Dear Quacker Family,

Self-Checkouts, to me, are both a wonderful and sad invention. I appreciate them these days especially because of the ongoing pandemic. Actually, that's the same reason I don't like them! We need human contact more than ever today :) Like most anything, self-checkouts have their place for sure. However, there's no substitute for old fashioned and kind real communication between two people.

Dad I will shortly be going off on a Thursday morning adventure:car:to Dollar Tree and Target. I'm hoping Dollar Tree will have one of those Happy Birthday Yard signs on the plastic sticks that we can bring to Sue on her 100th next Wednesday. Sue, sadly, can barely see. I was hoping perhaps, even a tiny bit, she might be able to see something big like the yard sign. Should Dollar Tree not have one, which the store when I called yesterday said they didn't, God gave me the idea of making our own! We can get a huge Happy Birthday Gift Bag and attach it to a plastic ruler! That way Sue can still hold the sign, hang it up should she choose or even stick it in her lawn. I do think it would make a cute picture to take with her as well either with her or one of us holding it for her. 🙏appreciated always for a safe and healthy trip and return home for us both. I will post more this afternoon.

Have a lovely day everyone🐥❤️

Yes indeed - you can say that again! As the crow flies we are not to far apart, and so I'm sure you can appreciate how dry it's been over here.
Good luck to your friend Tina, hope all goes well there.
Broke in the new grill last night, turkey burgers. Hopefully we get two years out of this one, that seems to be what we average on grills no matter if we buy cheap ones, middle of the road ones or ones that cost way to much! We do use them often, and are hard on them even though it's kept under a covered porch area. Oh well, it is what it is.
My old Weber charcoal grill is roughly 30 years old. I could still use it but the legs are a bit shaky. It's a red one and I'll replace it when I see another red one.

I also have a gas one and a small Smokey Joe. The gas one is also quite old but more like 12 or 13 years old. We don't BBQ much, and I do keep them under cover, except the oldest one which is just sitting out looking pitiful. I'm too sentimental to toss it.
:thanks:for letting us know you are safely home dear Bobbi:grouphug:Please get some REST tonight and have a relaxing day tomorrow!
Glad you made it home safe but I don't even remember quoting this, lol
ood sunny morning. No chance of rain, at least so far, temps upper 80's. Lawn needs mowing again, I just can't keep up.

Mowed grass right before I left last week. Came home to a jungle and I do have to get out and at least do the dog area today as he is refusing to step in the taller grass and if I don't watch and tell him no, he'll comfortably do his business on my deck. Since it's Trex I just pick it up, spray some soap and hose it off, but still - go on your grass!

I've figured out my tomato plants will survive 4 to 5 days of 90ties so long as it rains. DD didn't water cause it rained.

Also, the tomatoes got a chance to get really red, and turns out deer like them when they've sweetened up so they tried a few. They didn't get too many of them since I put the trellis panels around them. I could have bought a lot of tomatoes for what those panels cost! But they will pay over the next few years plus I like the look.

@lynxstch I have 2 plants in very large pots plus a single cherry tomato bush. I have more tomatoes than I'll eat fresh, and I'm giving a few away. Years ago we planted maybe 20 out back and had a tomato jungle so I downsized.

I have a walled patio due to the slope of the yard and it is maybe 15 inches wide, so my pots sit in the sunniest area and are at easy picking height on the inside of the patio. Outside is a bit tall but it's now almost like a privacy wall.

Ears of corn here are 95 cents each at farm stands. We had to buy some tomatoes, our cherry ones are nearly gone and large ones are slow to ripen.

Our big tomatoes are slow to ripen also. Cherry ones are just starting to turn red. Wow, that's a lot for corn. I paid $4.50 for a dozen of bi color the other day at the farm stand, and it's delicious!

We're up to 87. Calling for storms tonight and maybe tomorrow, so I hustled and got out there as soon as the grass dried and got the mowing all done again. Picked more squash and lettuce, and I'm heading for a cool shower next. Dinner is going to be steak subs (homemade) with sweet corn.
Have a nice afternoon all

Good afternoon, Friends :)

Dad and I are long safely home, thanks to God. I enjoyed Dollar Tree the most. Target, really doesn't have much interesting or changing anymore, certainly not clothing choices. We did get more of our Up&Up Free and Clear Laundy soap and Up&Up Antibacterial Hand Wipes that we use for a variety of things. We use Kroger Brand Disinfecting Wipes from Ralphs for things such as cleaning our shoe bottoms after being out.

No sign for Sue. That's ok. Dad, will hopefully at Ralphs next Tuesday find a bigger balloon with a clear Happy Birthday on it.

Judique, I'm just thankful you're safely home :)

It is awful how prices on most everything keep rising :(

Have a good rest of the day everyone with love.

It is so dry out, I’m kind of glad I didn’t plant a garden this year. We got a little rain late last week but it didn’t make a dent. The lawn is brown and crunchy. I mow about 3 acres, no way I could water that even if I wanted to. So many weather extremes around the country.

Tomorrow I am going furniture shopping with my sister. Her husband passed a month before Kris. She sold her house and moved to a condo. She wants to replace some of her furniture.

My grief support group ends next week and will pick up again in October. I suggested to the group that we keep meeting informally, so we’ll see if that works out. I enjoy the discussion part of our meeting much more than the videos. The videos are overly bible/ religious based. I have faith but, the preaching gets to me. The people in the group are nice as are they facilitators. I think I am the youngest one there, but that is fine.

I still have cable tv, but it is just so expensive. I do like the ease of it. So found out they have a plan where you can choose 15 channels and the bill is reduced. I think I will probably try that out. I have the tv on most of the day just for the noise and distraction.

Have a nice evening everyone.

:grouphug:Dazed and as always, I believe in you! More than that, so does God and He is with you. I'm truly thankful that your support group overall is positive for you. Good for you for suggesting that you along with others in it keep meeting. You are making a kind difference to all of them, my friend!

Sweet Dreams Everyone with much love always.

@dazedx3 I am glad your support is helping and you enjoy the discussion. It would be nice if you do meet informally during the next few months. I have been reading widow blogs online. I can read just so much before I have to stop. I do like that I can see how some women are doing and how they get there. Some are very religious and that how they get through while others are like me, just try to get through each day. Cable is expensive. The condo complex I am moving to actually negotiated a cut rate with the cable and internet supplier and the rate cannot increase by more than 10% a year.

@fylingdumbo127 Glad you had a nice time out shopping.

I was in the office yesterday. Then Kenny and I went shopping for some supplies for the trip. Jeff, Aimee, Kenny, and his girlfriend are planning the meals. I asked them if they would do meals as I just don't have the brain power to spare right now. Although I found myself giving them ideas and I bought some snacks for the grandkids and for the adults. We changed our Santa's Village tickets to Monday as that will be the better day. Tomorrow I will make some brownies for dessert on Sunday. I am not sure how I will do on this trip as I know I will be thinking of Chris alot. I just hope I can make them happy thoughts but I suspect I will be crying too. He wanted so much to take the grandkids to Santa's Village.

I booked a Reiki session at the salt therapy place I go to. They bring in various treatment people from time to time. This person comes highly recommended. My therapist recommended Reiki so I will give it a try. If it can help me feel a bit more calm while on this trip I am all for it.

Have a good day.

Good morning! Cloudy and rainy here today.

Today James (7) came with Terry to feed the fish. Levi was playing a game. It’s really nice to see the enthusiasm regarding the fish.

I have a friend, Connie, (80 something ) who is having back surgery now at Cleveland Clinic 🙏 please. She was my neighbor in Ohio, and the friendship we’ve forged has been one of the very best things that resulted from my very reluctant move to OHIO in 1993, we stayed there for 24 years, but we had bought in Cape May with my DSis in 1998, so I also was lucky to have my NJ connection for a long time, too.

I’ve decided to bake blueberry/zucchini loaf to send her.

Bobbi

Good morning

@bobbiwoz Prayers for your friend. May her Dr's have steady hands and be successful

It rained again overnight (what else is new), and it's cloudy now, even though they say no rain and low 80's.
I couldn't believe it when I found a text from the painter this morning. She says she will definitely be here in the next 2 weeks. She's getting her new work schedule on Monday and will let me know the exact date. She apologized for taking so long (finally she said she was sorry, after 2 months), and thanking us for our patience. Dave will be glad to hear he doesn't have to do it, lol

More squash today, more lettuce, watching a few tomato's finally starting to turn colors. It's like a sea of green tomatoes out there, lol. Beans are starting to get beans, and cucumbers have little baby ones forming.
Have a great Friday everyone

:grouphug:Snowysmom, :santa:Village extra prayers as well, my friend. One step at a time, always. Truly we all are with and rooting for you. God is with you always in all, too! Thank you for kind words also about yesterday. I did think of you at Target when my experience was similar to yours in finding that what they have now isn't quite the same was it was pre pandemic! To be fair, at least out here, that's the case at most any place!

Prayers indeed for Connie, Bobbiwoz! Thank you for being such a caring friend to her, too! Aw, love that the kiddos are enjoying your :fish:

Lynn:hug:I simply pray the painter does come and then is DONE. Completely!

Dad is off at the laundromat followed by Ralphs. We may go briefly this afternoon to 99 and CVS. I don't like going out in the afternoon because I do feel best early in the day. Plus, of course, stores are generally less busy right at open. Main reason is, I do not like dad going out twice in a day! He does enough. We both do have credit at CVS and need a few things at 99 (both places are close together). I absolutely want him to stay 100% home tomorrow! Sunday, he is going to Pavilions. I don't care for (he agrees) my going out over the weekend and certainly not on Sunday, to me, a day of extra prayer, worship, and rest. So, we shall see. What a blessing to have a choice these days again! That reminds me, yesterday at Dollar Tree, for the first time since 2019, I was able to choose our wall calendars for 2024! 📅That sure meant a lot to me and also made things easier for dad not to have to text me pictures of a few choices. small blessings are absolutely graces for sure to be thankful to God for!

This Sunday afternoon will be Sue's big party at church. I'm looking forward to hearing about it from friends who attend along with Sue herself when we briefly see her God willing on her birthday Wednesday. Dad prayers early for his upcoming doctor appointment on Monday. Thank you all, always! You know that.

Love to all and Happy Friday. I will check back later.

Update regarding Connie. Thank you all who have expressed concern for her! We and they have an RCCL cruise booked in October. It’s on the Oasis of the Seas out of Bayonne, NJ.

From Ron, Connie’s DH
Just spoke with surgeon. Everything fine slightly longer due to removal of excess scar tissue from before. Will keep overnight and see how she feels in the morning from that processing.

Dave just left and I have working outlets again, the new range hood is up and working, and he put a longer bolt in one of the ramp post boxes. It was loose. He looked to see what we needed for the downstairs shower, and what we needed for plumbing for the new sink/vanity. We'll go get those one day when he's got nothing to do or it's raining and he'll put them in then. His list is getting shorter and shorter. It looked like it was going to storm , but now the sun is back and it's breezy and 83 outside.

Prayers said for your friend, bobbi! And, as always, for everyone here.
Glad you’re getting out again, Mona! And that you’re getting things finished up, Lynn!
Snowysmom, I am a Reiki-certified practitioner! It helped me a lot during my cancer journey, so I became one myself! I hope you enjoy it. Let me know if you have any questions about it!
Only have time for a quick hello. Enjoy the rest of this Friday and wishing everyone a nice weekend! 🐥

Happy middle of summer everyone.

Just stopped in and read the last two pages.

Then we need to stop for another 8 cases of beer to round out the bar inventory for next weekend.
I am guessing the wedding is this weekend? Hope all goes well. I will come back for pictures.

Also came home to an ant invasion,
Yep, we are having that also.

Ears of corn here are 95 cents each at farm stands. We had to buy some tomatoes, our cherry ones are nearly gone and large ones are slow to ripen.
That is high for corn here too. I have been getting good corn at the Food Lion for 2 or 3 for $1, depending on the sale. And none of my cherry or regular tomatoes are red. Lots of green though.

It rained again overnight
We had a wicked thunder storm at 4am for 45 minutes.

We painted the family room this week. Went out today to look for carpet for there and our bedroom we painted.

Hope everyone is doing the best they can.

Sweet Dreams everyone with much love always!

Thank you all so much for your continuing extra prayers, support, encouragement for my getting out a bit. We did go to CVS and 99 this afternoon. Good trip. We both agreed no more afternoon outings. Dad, as I shared earlier, I never like when he goes out twice in one day. :cheer2:that he is staying completely home tomorrow.

Always great to see you, dear Carol:grouphug:Thank you for stopping by, my friend. Stay safe and have a great of the summer!

Bobbiwoz, what a fantastic update. Praise so very much extra to God! Prayers you rest easier tonight now, too!

Lynn, truly :cheer2:for Dave. How did the painter do?🙏

Snowysmom and Pea, always, of course, :hug:to both of dear you, too!

Nighty Nite Friends.

Final update tonight from Ron regarding Connie:

From Ron

Left her at hospital. And she is in and out of sleep due to pain, pills, post - anesthesia and just a long day
Doctor said reaction to somewhat excessive scar tissue removal would cause some difficulties and we'll see how she feels tomorrow a.m. to determine if staying another night.

Bobbi…I know there‘s a lot of people saying prayers for Connie.

@bobbiwoz I hope Connie feels better today and can go home. Get well wishes for her.

@flyingdumbo127 I like hearing of your trips to stores and doing errands. I hope the outings are positive for you and your Dad. The stores are not quite the same but it is better than it was. I find mornings are less crowded.

Good Morning. It was a dark and stormy night last night. Thunder and lightning all around. This morning the sun is out thankfully. Highs should be 83 but right now it is 65. Good for walking.

Today will be doing a bit of work to try to make my return after vacay a bit easier, reiki, and packing. I probably got too many snacks for the kids. I got a few boxes of treats, Kenny got some, and I am sure Jeff and Aimee will be bringing some. I am grateful that they are taking care of the food and making meals. Kenny told me all I have to do is eat. Well, I do plan on helping with the prep. I can't just sit there and do nothing.

Have a good Saturday.
