Resort Thread Disney's POP CENTURY Resort

It could be true but I’ll believe it more when Disney, someone from this group or a trusted vlogger is there and verifies. I haven’t found the FB Pop group to have too good of a track record when it comes to accuracy.

(I’ve searched and so far cannot find any sources I trust, validating this change.)

I've confirmed the Pop 60's changes with our room assigner contact, and have an updated spreadsheet. I'll load that later this week.

There are also POR changes, but that's a separate thing.

Thanks so much Len! Are rooms in Buildings 4 and 5 now either Preferred or, Preferred Pool View?

On a side note, when I booked our BounceBack in Aug for next Aug, I was only able to find availability for a Preferred room. Guessing they knew this change was coming so may already have altered categories in their system. Thankful now as we really enjoy buildings 4 and 5.

Well since The Mouse has returned the 60s to opening day status,I am just sure they will also return the 50s and 70s to all Standard.

I'm glad you were able to confirm this, but I'm sad that it's true. Those standard rooms in the 60's section were a great little secret for many years.

I’ve been checking for rooms for a few weeks with nothing showing up for Pop at all. Last week I saw preferred pool view opened up and today preferred view opened up. Does this mean those rooms have been refurbished? It took about 4-5 tries to get it to go through as the system kept telling me it was a mistake and that room type actually wasn’t available but now I am officially booked.

So I am booked for my first stay at Pop in a preferred room. I will be going down 12/5-12/9 to visit DD who is doing the DCP. I will also be there for my birthday!! DD stayed at Pop for two nights in July when DS went to visit her and she said she loved her stay there so I am looking forward to it.

I originally had ASMo booked but really wasn’t feeling it. There is also no DCP discount for our dates and slim pickings for the holiday 20% off through the Disney site. We are going to spend most of our time at Epcot and doing a Jollywood night so even though I’m not the biggest Skyliner fan it just makes sense. I did book rack rate which makes my chest hurt but I’m not paying for park tickets and DD has great discounts and holiday coupons for all of our meals so I’m trying to tell myself that.

Any thoughts on room requests? I do have a TP subscription.

For what it's worth, when I made my reservation last year for POP for next week the only thing that showed availability was preferred or pool view.

I saw standard show up a few months ago but we weren’t sure on DDs requests off yet and by the time that was straightened out they were gone. I know Pop is a popular value.

Pop runs at/near capacity all year and it's not unusual for room categories to be filled 6+ months in advance and often even further out. Add in the current room refurbishments and it's even more challenging to find availability close to travel dates.

Yes, your room will be refurbished although room refurbishments are minor - a bit of flooring, garbage cans, paint, curtain and mattresses. They're nice to have but I would have zero concern staying in an existing room pre-refurbishment.

Room requests are personal. It really depends on your preferences. All Preferred rooms are in a similar location so you would want to look at the other options available to request - ground floor, upper floor, etc.
