Good Morning, Everyone 🌼 Cooler again here for which I am sure grateful. May be 90's this week ahead.

I haven't posted gratitude in a few days :(. Saturday extra gratitude was:

I was so grateful yesterday to get to have a very nice talk with a friend going through a lot. Thank God she is at much better place now. She read me a story she wrote for the book project I'm helping to spearhead. It was lovely :) Thank those of you so much who are writing for this, who have said you'd pray about it please do let me know soon, and a bunch of others who have offered kind encouragement. I appreciate all of you, always! O/T but related, does anyone on here draw? Or do you know anyone good at drawing? All I draw are stick figures! Some illustrations are already needed such as a drawing of a stuffed animal tiger along with possibly teddy bear (so far they would be the most complicated) to something probably a ton easier of a generic can of soup. PM me should you be able to help with this and of course, if you'd like to write or more information. Thank you :)

I also got an email from another friend who due to health issues is not able to write much so when she does its an extra Blessing.

Canon printer ink is becoming extinct! So hard to find much like Wipes! We had ordered some on Target.com to save the Red card 5%. I shared on here earlier during all this my soup disaster from Target.com. Dad and I were never going to order from them online again. We did once and it went fine (no food)! Because ink for us is fortune at almost $60 we thought we would try one last time. Big mistake. We never received the package. Thankfully after much runaround Dad did get a credit back to his Red Card. We were finally able to order the ink yesterday on Amazon. Heads up to keep an eye on your ink levels and a FYI caution to be careful of ordering on target.com.

Meriweather, your share about liquid soap, reminded me of how hard that is to find! I have come to like Target Up &Up Brand. It's not greasy like some scents of Dial and Softsoap are plus has a nice mild smell. Before this plague, I used Jergen's Liquid Soap from the Dollar Tree. That has not been seen since this all started! Definitely a great idea to stock up on liquid soap among other items!

Happy Sunday all :)

Besides all the B&BW liquid soap, I do but Softsoap at Walmart and Kroger's brand at Fry's (that one is still one of the emptiest shelves in the store!
I do have about 15 of those 2 kinds. We take them when we travel and then just toss them since they are less than $1.
I am definitely set on liquid soap for a long time!!

Rainy, dreary Sunday here, temp in upper 60's, really Fall like feeling in the air. Hubby did something to his back yesterday and is very stiff and sore today, so I get to play nursemaid again, lol. Guess it will be a movie/football kind of day here. Putting country style ribs in the oven to slow cook for dinner, with what might be the end of the sweet corn around here. Sister in law went to the orchards yesterday and brought us some apples (honeycrisp, gala, and fuji) , some peaches, mini cantaloupes, and a few tomatoes from their garden (they planted a lot later than we did, and theirs are still producing a few here and there.
Have a nice afternoon everyone

Heads up, buy your canned pumpkin pie filling now, our large several states grocery store in the Midwest can’t get Libby’s pumpkin in, shortage of aluminum cans. I got an off named brand to try in pumpkin oatmeal tomorrow . I’m also thinking of getting some flour and sugar to put aside for Christmas cookies
@sparkle78 Thanks so much for this heads up. I had no idea, but it turns out it's an issue at my store. I opted to order some because pumpkin bread is such a nice treat.

I've been buying liquid soap refills on Grove. I get the Grove gel for the kitchen, and the Grove foam for the bathrooms (glass refillable soap dispensers from there too). I really like the lemon eucalpytus and mint scent. It's the only soap brand that I've found that I haven't had a reaction to after using for a long period of time; I usually start having reactions to soaps after about 3-4 months of use.

Nice to see you both Gwynne and Bianca and Bernard this Sunday :)

B&B, I had trouble for many years with body wash. I finally found Dove unscented works very well for me. The trouble is a few years ago Dove came out with a new version of this product still labeled as the old. It's not the same. The old was Hypoallergenic, soap and perfume free, for sensitive skin. The new Dove, when I looked up information online and we later called, is not perfume free. Thankfully I was able to stock up at Big Lots 2 years ago on a lot of the old. I still have 3 or so left.

Prayers all of you are enjoying a relaxing Sunday :)

Hi friends.

Re: liquid soap, I also bought some when it was on sale at BBW. DH brought home giant refill bottles from his office so we are good for a while. He also brought home office grade TP and paper towels. for if we get desperate.

Yesterday we went for a bike ride along the C&D Canal. Saw a container barge being pulled by a tug boat. Used to see a lot more ships going through the canal. Then we decided to get a dozen crabs for dinner.

Today took another hike in Fair Hill, the local nature area. It is getting to be a lot more fall like. Trees still green but dropping leaves for a brown leaf ground cover.

Dinner tonight is grilled chicken, fresh green beans DH was given by his barber, and left over Spanish rice.

Was changing the sheets on my bed yesterday morning and kept hearing a hissing noise. Went to investigate. Found Lil Joe spraying Carol's dry shampoo on the carpet and a couple of his books.

An hour later found my mom barely sitting in her chair at the table. She couldn't move her left arm and her right was barely keeping her in her chair. We spent most of the rest of the day in the ER until she could get a room. She had multiple strokes but shows no physical signs that she has had any, thank God. But they are still running tests to determine what caused them. The hospital usually only allows one person right now a day but since she has beginning stage dementia and gets stressed easily they made an exception and my sister is with her this afternoon and evening so I can get some rest.

Kirby, sorry to hear about your mom. It is difficult caring for aging parents. My Mother also had dementia, and lives with us. When something happens, and they really can't communicate it to us it is extremely difficult. Hope they figure it all out soon.

On hand soap, we love the soap at B&BW. Even ordered online last April to make sure we had enough. Actually, I need to do another run this week (usually stock up, and like to restock when down to 5). Our hardest find has been bleach wipes. We have been looking for month, and just not finding many - if any. We were well stocked in March, but have only twice found small containers at a limit of purchasing 1. We usually get the large 5 pack at Costco, which lasts a good long time.

We have had a quiet day here. DH made an air purifier with a box fan and furnace filter today as even in the house my eyes were burning and I was getting a head ache. It is working, since the filter is already turning brown. We just changed the one in our furnace two days ago, but figure we will have to change it again later this week. We are being told that we will have smoke thru Thursday. On the positive, we are expected to have rain on Tuesday, followed by another system on Thursday. Unfortunately they are thinking the one on Tuesday will be from I-5 west to the coast, and most the fire activity is on the east side of there. But the humidity level keeps raising, which is really helping the fire fighting activity. I cannot tell you how much I am looking forward to rain. I may even need to make soup and bread, just because I really want it! lol

Today for dinner we had Ham Steak, stuffing, mixed veggies and apple sauce. This is one of DH's favorite meals, so I try to have it about once a month.

We are starting DD in online school tomorrow. I am nervous, and expect some emotional moments over the next week, but I think we got this. I am beginning to think I will be learning as much as she is does as this is a self paced program, and I am sure she will need me to guide her until she gets the hang of it. I will have to try to remember to get her first day of school picture. Usually I take this outside, but will have to find somewhere indoors for it this year. Maybe I will have her make the sign to hold up, which should make her happy.

Anyway, everyone have a blessed week!
Heidi

Oh, Kirby. I'm so sorry! You have lot going on anyways and "just one more thing" can be so hard. Please know I'm keeping you and your family in my thoughts and prayers. I am so thankful that both you and your sister can be with your mom and that people are using judgement and not just protocols to help make the decisions. Make sure to take few minutes for yourself and you can't do it all for everyone else. That's the hard part as caretakers, is saying no.

I'm so glad for your family that they are being flexible and allowing both you & your sister to help your Mother with the situation. The hardest thing to do is justify giving yourself a bit of a break so you can be a better care giver, so I'm glad you are carving that bit of time out for yourself. I hope your mother is doing better soon!

We started taking about 1400 feet of fence down this weekend, got about 3/4 of the rails off, and will start to pull the posts today or tomorrow. 160 trees ordered to put in once the fence & posts are all down.

For work related scheduling issues, we've decided to have our mid-october get away a week earlier...very fortunate that we can change the flights for free, hotel rates are the same and kids can still babysit the dogs a week earlier, so I'm off to make some travel arrangement changes for that.

@lynxstch, I hope your DH is feeling better today.

@Kirby, I am so sorry about your mother! I hope she recovers fully! Strokes scare me...lots of history on both sides of my family with strokes. Please keep us updated!

We all loved those ornaments, so a little while ago I ordered some as gifts for each branch of our family! They must be popular, the estimated date of arrival is November 1st-December 1st! Hope they arrive by Christmas

You know what we're having trouble finding here...Clorox Toilet Wand refills. We cannot find them anywhere. Target, Walmart, Costco, even the grocery stores...none to be found. Can't even find the full Wand kit either. Very strange.

I'm with those of you who are uncomfortable with dining out indoors. I'm not ready for it either. We also haven't taken advantage of outdoor dining; it's been too hot until recently, and I dislike bugs bothering me while I'm eating as well. We are sticking to take-out for a while. My in-laws, though, have a little local restaurant that they really like - the owner is a sweet Polish lady who always gives Josh a lollipop or free bag of chips if he eats all of his food. They've been "sneaking over there" (my MIL's words ;) ) since she opened back up.

I feel like this past weekend, I did a lot without doing anything at all! Finished off our distance learning on Friday with lots of frustration. Josh can see himself on the screen and keeps making faces, then he puts a blanket over his head, then he ducks back and forth and under the table. He has a few assignments that he doesn't want to do. I think we misunderstood his art assignment - his teacher seems to want a "cave painting" but Josh just drew a random picture. He's in kindergarten...he doesn't understand, so she's getting the picture he did.

Saturday he had his first official soccer game of the season and he did quite well! Last year he just sort of stood there and let the ball go by, then he'd throw his hands in the air and run after it several seconds later. This time he played the entire game (they divide the team and play 3 on 3 on 2 different fields), and he got in there with the ball the whole time! Ran after it and kicked it a lot - I think he even scored a few goals (but they don't keep score)! I really like his jersey this season, too - last year, it was just solid red with black sleeves, but now he's got this nice coral one...

In the evening, we went over to his preschool friend's house for Movie Night! They had set up a movie screen on one side of the yard, with a few air mattresses in front of it for the kids and folding camp chairs for the adults behind it (Josh sat with us most of the time, though). They offered homemade popcorn and apple cider, too. We watched Hocus Pocus, which I think scared Josh a bit because he sat in my lap for the second half of the movie. But now he wants to be "Zombie Billy Butcherson" for Halloween... ;) We didn't get home until 10 - and we only live 5 minutes away! They're going to do it again this weekend - they're thinking of showing Nightmare Before Christmas - and every weekend until it's too cold to do it. We will be there!

Yesterday we spent the day with Granna & Granpa. It was their 51st wedding anniversary. Just hung out with them in the backyard at their house.

Today he woke up crying that he didn't want to go to school, that he wanted to stay home and snuggle with me. He got over it before it was time to get dressed and go outside to wait for the bus. Hope he's having a good day and that he uses the potty (we had some more issues with that on Friday...)
