Hug, Kirby, that is truly so sad :(

Happy swimming time to the kiddos, Meriweather.

I just went outside to move my car across the street. Thursday and Friday are street sweeping days. We think this is still being enforced which IMO is so wrong during a plague! Anyway, it is always easier to move my car on Thursday from across the street over to my side of the street for Friday and then after 10am on Friday back across the street in preparation for the following Thursday. Being outside for 5 minutes or so felt surreal and sad :( The air is awful with an unhealthy light from all the fires. Not safe or healthy. I was thankful to come back inside!

Stay safe everyone and have a good Friday! :)

Hi all,

I don't do great on 9/11 on the best of days and this not the best of days that's for sure. I have a different perspective I suppose. I was fresh out of college and getting ready to live my best Sex in the City life in 2001 and I was falling hard for a boy wearing a uniform telling me all was good because there hadn't been "war in forever" as I kept saying I don't think I was really good for the military life. When 9/11 hit, my mom called and woke me up telling me to turn the tv on and then asked for me to come home and I sat with my family all day and night stunned. By 9/13 or so I was crying more about the future than anything else thinking about what was to come. It's been 19 years since then and 19 years of war and mostly forgotten. I realized on Oct 3rd I was in love with a boy and he was a solider and my life would be different than I had planned and it has been but so more blessed than I ever thought or deserved. Tonight I'll kiss my old soldier and light a candle for those that can't.

To answer the QOTD I feel like I'm the only coffee drinker or Starbucks drinker on this thread! I do like PSL in the fall but has to be lot cooler temperature for me. I would say that being home and making my own coffee drinks has helped my waistline and my pocketbook! I had a dream from Starbucks the other day and couldn't finish because it was too sweet and too fru fru and I never thought I'd say that!

@apirateslifeforme Thank you for sharing. I'm so sorry you are hurting. Whether you believe it or not, how you got here doesn't matter. Now that you are here, there are people that love you and want you. You are a blessing to this world. I can relate on so many ways to how you feel and think and experiences you have been through. If you ever want to chat about this all, PM me.

Happy Friday to ya'll. I have ribs going in the crockpot that I'll finish up in the oven with some roasted veggies and making some shells n cheese. Nothing special or too healthy today. Comfort food all the way!

@easyas123 did you have football food last night? Nosey minds want to know.

As always, so thankful for such kind, good hearted caring group. We all can use that about now.

There was some talk of wings, but in the end some good old bad for you grocery store fried chicken is what got brought home. Much was consumed by others...At 7 the football crap (my words, not what was the the TV Guide :smooth: ) started up and I swear it was like the 10 hours of programming before the Superbowl. The dogs and I sat out on the porch and watched the rain and discussed life, then we went into the bedroom to watch TV and putz on computer while husband enjoyed the game.

I ordered one!!

Wherever did you come across that? It's great!

I don't care for pumpkin spice anything. I do like mocha or vanilla lattes once in a great while. Coffee is a morning staple for me.

On 9/11 I was working as a temp at a consulting company. The woman in the next desk said a plane hit one of the towers. I thought she meant a small plane. She put on her radio and then it came out that another plane hit. We all went to the conference room to watch TV. I called DH at home and told him to put on the TV. The company sent everyone home and we picked up the kids at school at the regular time. The sky was eerily quiet while we waited for the kids. Where we live there are always small planes going to the airport at the base or planes heading into Logan airport. It was just spooky and sad. The high school told the students what had happened while the middle school did not.
Tina Your story about 9/11 and what happened after is so moving. You are a kind soul.

@apirateslifeforme I like reading your school updates. It sounds like you are getting along pretty well with everything. Sometimes there are glitches but that happens to everyone.

This thread is the best. I like reading it every day to catch up on what is going on with everyone and what new stuff is out there. Everyone is so kind and uplifting.

Happy weekend.

Yes!! We go to bed early as the alarm goes off at 0445 and the pre game started at 7pm!! I gave up and went to watch the RV show. It's like House Hunters but for RVs. I'm so interested in thought of campers and gave up on the game.

This thread really is the best, Snowysmom! :)

9/11 I was teaching at a small preschool way up in Northern, CA. Dad was scheduled to fly to visit me and my Grandma (Grandma at that time lived around the corner from me). He ended up driving up instead! I remember him saying how grateful he was that the two of us did live in small town. He was here in the big city :( Scary and such a sad time indeed.

Hi all.

DH and I went and took DD and DGS out to lunch at Crooked Hammock. It was yummy. I had a flight of beer and, with DD's prompting, tried ones I wouldn't usually pick. Unfortunately, I enjoy beer. DD and DH had a beer called Small World which was a sour crafted after a Dole Whip from WDW. 525380

After lunch we went back to DD's and babysat DGS so DD could grocery shop. DGS is so smiley now. It is interesting that he won't smile at a person with a mask on. He has to see a face and mouth to smile. So this COVID is effecting yet another thing.

DD was going to get DGD from daycare and go to a park if we wanted to go and see her since she started preschool. We stopped at the Amish Market first to get donuts. And @easyas123, I specifically wanted to try the cinnamon sticks but they didn't have any. :( DGD is really happy to be back at school and had lots to tell us.

Dinner was leftovers.

9/11 I wasn't at work that day and was at home on the DIS. Like others, I thought the first was a terrible accident, and then there was a second. I wanted to get the kids from school and bring them home but decided that was not the thing to do. The people on the DIS were keeping me sane and informed.

We have been to the museum in NYC and also to Shanksville. Hopefully things will get better in this country.
