Quarantine and chill and kindness chatty clubhouse: Jump in and join the conversation! All is welcome!

I have been reading all your memories and 911 and remembering how things changed. I was a newlywed for 7-8 weeks when this happened. DH and I were were driving into work when the radio changed to the coverage - 1st plane had just hit. I remembering getting to work, and trying to look things up on the internet. I was the first there. When one of the other employees showed up with a TV, and we listened to as much as we could that day. DH had an office mate who was in the air flying home from Romania with his new bride. They got turned around over Greenland, and were stuck in the Amsterdam airport for 3 days. I remember how concerned we were for their safety, and worry about how they would get home. It is definitely a time we will never forget. Hard to believe it has been 19 years.

As for the QOFD - I do not drink coffee, so have never had a Pumpkin Spice Latte. I like pumpkin just fine, but really look more forward to the Gingerbread flavors later in the season.

Love the Christmas Ornament. I have been thinking about getting one as well. Only problem is it is not Disney. We add a Disney ornament each year.

We had a lovely visit with our friends today, and then DH and I headed out looking for an air purifier. As you can imagine, our air quality is the pits right now (worst in the world) and I cannot be outside very long before I get a headache, stinging eyes and a sore throat. Anyway, nobody has any, so DH has ordered one, which will get here after the rain is to come Tuesday and clear this all out. On the happy side, the nearest fire is 70% contained, and there is some progress on others. It also looks like right now that everyone I know who has been evacuated still has a home. We will keep praying that this remains the case. From one of the maps, it looks like the fire line came right up the the field next the DD's Great Grandparents house. We hope the map is accurate and their home is safe.

I can't imagine having the poor air quality due to the fires on the West Coast. We get dust storms and have ozone alerts when the air is still. Once, several years ago, we were affected by fires in Mexico but we've never had what you all are going through.

For the last week there has been an odor off and on in my car. I couldn't imagine what it was but thought maybe it was coming from outside while driving. Today I went to the grocery store and as I was putting my groceries in my car I noticed a grocery sack from the week before when I did Clicklist. Inside was a package of bacon that I had forgotten to take out of my car last week. Yuck! That went into the trashcan by the grocery cart pen immediately.

DH and I went out to lunch after a doctor visit yesterday. It was on the chilly side, felt wonderful, but we were not dressed to sit outside. The restaurant had all the tables marked and we were seated with no one around us. It was so nice!

That Christmas ornament is so cute Nancy!

We ate outside on the deck at noon. It was empty and we were not inside. I am not comfortable eating inside a restaurant yet either.

We tried, but I was a nervous wreck. I prefer take-out for now.

Is anyone else having sudden pop up ad trouble (started yesterday) every so often with a McDonald's Dollar Menu ad on here?

Not that one, but a similar one from Xfinity, and a few others have mentioned some as well. - There is a thread on the tech support board (I think the OP said Spectrum Cable pop-ups) if you want to add yours to the list.

I'm not comfortable dining inside or out! However, one of the many Blessings of this time is that I honestly don't miss dining out at all. I very much miss, of course, being able to safely do so and with family and friends! One day post plague, sure I'll go out for a meal maybe once a month or so but nothing like the few times a week I used to. Many prayers all of you who are comfortable dining out right now have a positive and safe experience for sure! :)

Rainy Saturday afternoon here. But I have all the yard work done, have been to the grocery store and farm stand this morning, and am ready to settle in for the weekend and do nothing (other than a load of laundry, and change the bed linens, lol). Farm stand has what will most likely be the last of the sweet corn for the year (lots of places have already run out). There weren't many tomatoes there either, but plenty of apples, pumpkins, gourds, and fall squash. Walmart actually had a shelf full of their brand of spray disinfectant. Limit 1. I grabbed one, even though I have 5 cans in my pandemic corner already, lol.
Dinner has been decided on for the next 3 nights, so I can defrost what I need in the mornings. Hubby is already asleep in his chair (though he claims he's 'watching' college football. Think I might lay on the couch and do the same thing. Temp is only 68 and feels very Fall like already. Have a great Saturday everyone!

Lol to your "pandemic corner," Lynxstch, smart idea! We have pandemic shelves! We definitely try to keep a wipe supply! I'm glad to hear you will get to enjoy a relaxing weekend. Prayers everyone else on here does the same :)

It's actually a corner in the basement, with shelves, but the overflow (large pkgs of TP and Paper Towels are stacked on the floor. Trying to stock up on the paper goods that disappeared so fast in March. Hubby has allergies and goes thru a lot of tissues, and will only use Puffs with Lotion, so I grab a 3 pack once a week when I go to Walmart. Have a good supply of those on hand, along with ziploc gallon and quart bags, trash bags, cleaners, paper cups, etc. I would rather have too much than too little if it happens again :(

Happy Saturday. We had a nice dinner out last night. We ate outside because it was so nice outside. We have eaten inside our favorite restaurants and truly have felt safe every time. We were more than 6 feet away from others and the waitstaff was very good. If I did not feel safe I would leave in an instant. One thing we learned from this is that we actually do like to eat outside as long as it is not too hot or rainy. We never really did it before except at Disney and now we enjoy it.

This morning it was 48 degrees when DH took out the dog. I needed a fleece first thing. Now it is 70 degrees and breezy. Can't wait until it gets a bit cooler as Fall comes in. I like it in the upper 50s with a breeze. Just enough to wear my light fleece jacket.

We went on a hunt for paper towel. It has disappeared here. I think people are starting to hoard again.
We did find some at a small local grocery store that is very good about looking out for their customers. We go there once or twice a month to get some items we like and to just look around. We also bought a box of rags that we can use for cleaning, then wash, and reuse.

I hope every one has a nice weekend.

Supposed to go down to 48 overnite this week. It was 65 this morning when I went grocery shopping, and when I walked into Aldi's it felt like a freezer. I had goosebumps, and my fingers were frozen by the time I got to the register. We warmed up to 68 today and had just a few showers.

If you have any Aldi's near you, check them for TP and Paper Towels. Our stores were out for quite awhile, but now they are almost all fully stocked again. Walmart also had plenty of both.

Hug, Lynxstch, you are so right and smart. Dad and I use 2 bookcases, some space on a small cart, and wherever else we can find room for storage of extra supplies. I sadly do think once the weather turns cooler and maybe even here in LA, rainy, supplies might be harder to come by. We do always try to have some extras. Kleenex (I don't know about Puffs) can most often be ordered on Wal-Mart.com just as an FYI to you and everyone else :)

Do you have any Ralph's (Kroger) stores in your area, Snowysmom? They almost always have TP and paper towels. Target, at least out here, usually has something.

Heads up, buy your canned pumpkin pie filling now, our large several states grocery store in the Midwest can’t get Libby’s pumpkin in, shortage of aluminum cans. I got an off named brand to try in pumpkin oatmeal tomorrow . I’m also thinking of getting some flour and sugar to put aside for Christmas cookies

I definitely buy differently than I used to. I don't want to be caught short of supplies again.
Most of my shipping is at Costco......so BIG packs.
I usually just buy the toilet paper when one 6 pack is left, now I buy the Costco pack when I open the start of one.
I have one sitting in the garage while we work on one. Same with paper toilets (we don't go through those as fast), napkins, Kleenex, dish soap, dishwasher tabs, laundry detergent. As soon as I start one, I buy another.
I am still using disinfecting wipes I had before March, but have bought 2 more (gave DD one), so 8 big packs. Lysol spray......5 cans from Costco and a smaller one I snagged before Costco got them back. I don't use those much.
Huge container of hand sanitizer, but we don't use that much either. I keep 2 small ones in the car. And have a lot of Bath and Body Works mini ones.
We're home most of the time so just use soap and water. I did just buy 20 bottles of liquid hand soap when B&BW had them on sale with a limit of 20.

Anyway.....we're set.......we won't go into masks :rotfl2:

So today is a long day of cleaning.....whole house. I usually divide upstairs and downstairs, but DS and family come this evening for a week while flooring gets put in their home.
That means 4 extra people and DD during the day while she does the home schooling. Lot so time in my office and bedroom all week because we don't want to distract the kids.

Good Morning, Everyone 🌼 Cooler again here for which I am sure grateful. May be 90's this week ahead.

I haven't posted gratitude in a few days :(. Saturday extra gratitude was:

I was so grateful yesterday to get to have a very nice talk with a friend going through a lot. Thank God she is at much better place now. She read me a story she wrote for the book project I'm helping to spearhead. It was lovely :) Thank those of you so much who are writing for this, who have said you'd pray about it please do let me know soon, and a bunch of others who have offered kind encouragement. I appreciate all of you, always! O/T but related, does anyone on here draw? Or do you know anyone who does? Some illustrations are needed. All I draw are stick figures! Please PM me should you be able to help with this. Thank you!

I also got an email from another friend who due to health issues is not able to write much so when she does its an extra Blessing.

Canon printer ink is becoming extinct! So hard to find much like Wipes! We had ordered some on Target.com to save the Red card 5%. I shared on here earlier during all this my soup disaster from Target.com. Dad and I were never going to order from them online again. We did once and it went fine (no food)! Because ink for us is fortune at almost $60 we thought we would try one last time. Big mistake. We never received the package. Thankfully after much runaround Dad did get a credit back to his Red Card. We were finally able to order the ink yesterday on Amazon. Heads up to keep an eye on your ink levels and a FYI caution to be careful of ordering on target.com.

Meriweather, your share about liquid soap, reminded me of how hard that is to find! I have come to like Target Up &Up Brand. It's not greasy like some scents of Dial and Softsoap are plus has a nice mild smell. Before this plague, I used Jergen's Liquid Soap from the Dollar Tree. That has not been seen since this all started! Definitely a great idea to stock up on liquid soap among other items!

Happy Sunday all :)
