Thank you all. Apparently they don't meet the qualifications for an amber alert. (?!?!?!) I'm guessing because they ran away, and she's with another "child" and not an adult. Doesn't make sense to me....getting the license plate on the highways I'm sure would be really helpful right now. They are in Arkansas and I'm here in California so I'm just getting what she's sharing right now and don't want to tie her down with too many questions. They have notified the local media and its all over Facebook in their area and of course, friends from all over sharing hoping we can get some info to help bring her home. Ugh....I just can't even imagine my almost 22 yo being missing let alone a 12yo. Her name is Chloe❤...I'll keep you all posted.

And getting back to surprise parties....I changed my mind and don't think I would mind, I think it would nice for someone else to think about me enough to plan a party since I'm usually the ones who does them for others. As long as I was tricked into thinking I was going to another party so I was dressed appropriately.

Hope we haven't had this one yet....
QOTD: What's your favorite time of year?

Its been stinking hot lately, the last couple days have been "only" in the 90's during the day :crazy2: and the evenings have been pretty nice. This morning I went out to close the gates after hubby and DD went to work and it felt like Fall outside and I LOVE fall. Its still kind of warm with cool breezes...I just love it. I live in the desert but its high elevation so we can have some extreme temps. Summers are regularly over 100° and winters we can get down to the 40's(into the 20's at night). Fall is just perfect...not to hot, not to cold, usually not as windy as the rest of the year....its just right. We usually don't get true fall weather until late October so it doesn't last nearly as long as I would like.

QOTD: What's your favorite time of year?

I can't pick just one
I love Springtime, when everything turns green, starts to bloom, the birds come back, and winter is finally over
I love Fall, being originally from New England, I love the fall colors. I love the crisp weather. Its usually cool enough that the grass has stopped growing and I don't have to spend hours doing yard work. It's time for apples, pumpkins and Thanksgiving
I also love Christmas time, even though I am not a fan of Winter in general. I love the sounds, sights, smells, and meaning of Christmas and everything that goes with it!

Oh my goodness, AuntieMe3, that is horrible! So many prayers to you and Chloe and her family. The fact that she's with another *child* should be all the more reason for the police to be on top of it - that's TWO missing kids. I'm so sorry for everyone. A parent's worst nightmare.

Hope we haven't had this one yet....
QOTD: What's your favorite time of year?
Autumn by far! October is my favorite month. I love that the weather is (usually) pleasant...although lately it's still be rather hot; we all wear shorts and t-shirts until about a week before Halloween now. It is cooler in the mornings, and we think we need long jeans and long sleeves and our fleece jackets. Then we get to where we're going and we're all sweating ;) New England is so pretty in the fall...we usually get the Big E...last year we went to one of the corn mazes and had a very good time there! We also discovered the Pumpkin Patch Trolley at the Trolley Museum, where we get to ride out to the pumpkin patch and Josh can pick out a pumpkin to decorate (and keep). We love apple cider and apple crisp...painting and carving pumpkins...

Halloween is my favorite holiday. I must have the same amount of Halloween decorations as I do Christmas stuff. I used to be into vampires, but about 10 years ago I started really liking black cats and ravens. I go to Michaels and drool over the Victorian skull decor and black roses (I want it ALL!). Just no Ouija board stuff...I'm not sure if I believe in it, but why take the chance? ;) We started trick-or-treating when Josh was 2 and we've done "family costumes" every year. The first year, I got a Frankenstein's monster costume at the resale shop, so I went as the Bride and DH wore a crazy wig and a lab coat to be "Dr. Frankenstein." The second year, we were the Justice League - Josh was Batman, DH was Superman, and I was Wonder Woman (hoodie, mask and cape for Josh, t-shirts for DH and I). This past year, we were the Ghostbusters - Target actually had a "Venkman" Ghostbusters hoodie in the toddler department, I bought Stantz and Spengler t-shirts for DH and I, and we got a "Slimer" candy bag and Mr. Stay Puft plush basket. I don't know how much longer we can get away with cheap family costumes. We're thinking of doing Star Trek this year...

Oh, and I've got this guy. He's called "Peeping Thomas" and I got him several years ago from Victorian Trading Company. We put him in the window next to the door. Most people think he's cool, but we've had a few kids get scared until I take him out and show them that he's not real...

Another vote for Fall! I love Fall, everything about it leading up to Thanksgiving, which I also love!

Husband and the two boys just left to go night bowfishing and I expect them back around 2AMish, at which point the eldest will then leave to go rockfishing with - get this - one of this old elementary school teachers! I think 2nd grade? Our son is best friends with his daughters fiance and they are all going out celebrating her graduation from vet school and getting in at a local practice.

So my eye Dr. appt. went well - thanks for all the help & suggestions on the contacts. Dr. spent a hour with me and we tried three different types of contacts before we settled on a particular type. I got a weeks worth of samples and will give them a go and see how I make out. I don't think I'll be wearing them on a day by day basis, rather when I'm not at work/in front of a computer. Honestly, I'm thinking they will come in handy during travel times as I often like to go bag free and not having to haul around two sets of eyeglasses will help with that.

Speaking of travel, there is NOTHING on TV tonight, so I've banked about 12 of Rick Steves European travel shows on the DVR I'm going to watch and snivel in my wine that I can't (currently) go.

Dinner tonight for my will be a grilled cheese. Simple, easy and so good I wonder why I don't make them more often.

Whoa! He looks very lifelike!

I love Michaels for Halloween decor. Halloween isn't my thing per se, but we usually do a big late FAll/Halloween themed bonfire and over the years I started collecting more and more Halloween stuff as it goes on sale right before the holiday. I've gotten a lottta good things at Michaels -

QOTD for today, 7/23: Have you ever been given or helped to throw a surprise birthday party? Would you like to be part of either?
Y
Yes to both. My husband threw me a huge surprise 30th with a band, I surprised DH with a trip to Vegas and a few close friends for his 40th I've also been a part of 4 other birthday surprise parties and my Girls friends threw me a surprise 50th. Had a blast at all of them.

Hi all.

Just back from DD's house. We went there for dinner and a Zoom meeting with DS so all of us could plan our upcoming vacation. On the way down we stopped at the University of Delaware Creamery, their ice cream shop. DD placed and order and we placed an order, got curbside pick up, and took dessert. I took deviled eggs and DD made pasta salad and they grilled burgers. On the Zoom, we menu planned and made a grocery list and divided who would bring what. We are pretty much all on the same page as far as social distancing and activities so it went smoothly. We leave August 7 for a week in the Outer Banks.

QOTD: What's your favorite time of year?
I'll be odd man out. I like summer. I like the warmth and sun and going to the beach or a pool.

And this could be another question - Halloween, yay or nay. I dislike it. Always have. Do the minimum when it comes to candy and rarely decorate.

Speaking of travel, there is NOTHING on TV tonight,
Orioles baseball is back!

Gratitudes:
I picked flowers from my garden to take to DGD.
Nice visit and meal with DD and family. And I got to hold DGS and he smiled.
Productive planning Zoom.

Aww smiles from kids are just precious, Carol!

So nice to see this thread with more replies today. Thank you, all!

Thinking of you Tina. Prayers you and your family are safe and well. We miss you.

I grateful extra this Friday for:

Two nice phone conversations with friends
Nice PM's and Emails

I was able to order some pajamas on Wal-Mart.com. I only need the pants. My Dad at Ralph's gave one of the tops to a worker friend of ours which brightened her morning which in turn brought extra joy to mine :)

QOTD: What's your favorite time of year?

Autumn. Halloween was always special to me back when I lived in NY and there was a certain feel in the air that engulfed me. It was amazing -- the change in the season, the leaves changing and/or falling, the feeling of warmth, and the various wonderful scents wafting about. I'm in CA and while Halloweens aren't the same, I still get that warm feeling -- especially if I get to celebrate with friends at DL.
