Quarantine and chill and kindness chatty clubhouse: Jump in and join the conversation! All is welcome!

I didn't realize that it was a Friday the 13th until you mentioned it!
Good thing I'm not superstitious! Good topic for QOTD!

QOTD: Are you superstitious? I'm not, it doesn't even occur to me. My husband gets a little to in his head when he's watching his hockey/soccer/football teams  and if they are losing he will walk away and stop watching for a while, because he thinks his absence will somehow help the team. He recognizes it's silly and we joke about it, but he still does it ha ha!

Good morning everyone. Anyone have any fun weekend plans? I hope to carve out some time to sit out on the porch and enjoy the rain & thunderstorms, but other than that I don't, just some normal running around. We've got to make a Lowes run, and I need to take a few things back to Kohls & Home Goods. I was able to get all the needed mowing done yesterday evening (husband is out of town, so I pulled double duty) ahead of the next few days of rain. Took me about 2 1/2 hours and I got done a fair bit, although not all of it. Oh well, we can only do what we can do sometimes. I have some medical tests Monday that preclude me from really eating much after Saturday mid-day, so Sunday should be fun:crazy2:.

Speaking of eating, I came into the office w/o eating anything for breakfast and now I'm STARVING.
I did some mowing yesterday also but we had rain by 6pm. I did the push mower part and today my shoulders are sore. I think I have to check the self propelled mechanism because it seemed harder to push. Didn't stop me from pulling a few weeds this morning but it's easier when the ground is soaked. I recently read an article that said hand pulling is the most effective if you get the roots.

I hate using poisons to kill weeds, insects or anything although I absolutely realize things will not be the same without them. At least I can try to be conscious of it in my own environment on a small scale. But, down in the back the poison oak is climbing the pine trees in my neighbors' yard and then it tries to sneak across into my yard, so my other neighbor will spray it for me as I'm highly allergic. See - when needed I will waffle quickly so I try not to be too judgmental on the issue.

Also, one of my friends called to say he's been diagnosed with Parkinson's - he was in the wrong place at the wrong time in the 60ties, without getting into specifics. He's heading for 76 and sounded shaky. I rarely see him and his wife anymore. We were all camping buddies at one time.

Good morning.

We were out most of the day yesterday so today is for catching up with all the little things that pile up. Raining on and off but at least not so cold.

We ended up riding 10 miles on the bike trail by the canal, which was nice. For my birthday back in February, DS gave me a brim that attaches to my bike helmet to help block the sun and I had to try it out. Then home for a cook out dinner. We have a new grill and want to be sure DH has the hang of cooking on it before we have people over on Memorial Day so having a lot of hot dogs and hamburgers. Then decided to go up to Longwood Gardens for the illuminated fountain show. The music was Las Vegas Legends. Walked around a bit then stopped in the beer garden, that had live music, and had a beer and a pretzel. All in all a pleasant evening.

This weekend is my 50th high school reunion but I am not going. I have kept in touch with no one from my class and wasn't in the popular crowd back then. My high school class had over 500 in it. When I went to the 5 year and 15 year reunions, I hardly knew anyone so had no real desire to go this time.

Can't get my quotes to insert so will try again later.

Got the quoted to work.

@flyingdumbo127 Glad you had a nice day yesterday.

DH brought me home some flowers
They were beautiful.
I attached a picture of Cathedral ledge reflected in Echo Lake
Great picture.
Earlier this week my son in law delivered his and my DD's greenhouse to me.
Glad you are planning to enjoy it.
I already love it.
👍
And, my Yorkie made it for his spring checkup, heartworm, grooming and whatever else they did to him. Nails, anal, teeth, everything but his disposition which is testy with his anxiety!
My DD has some kind of antianxiety med from the vet that she gives her goldendoodle before grooming appointments so Paisley doesn't freak out.
I hate using poisons to kill weeds, insects or anything
Us too. DH is sure the neighbors using it is why our one sheltie got cancer.
QOTD: Are you superstitious?
Not really, however I will carry an umbrella in hoped that that will make it NOT rain. Or leave sunglasses home so the sun WILL come out.

The older neighbor has one of the lawn companies do treatments. I hate it, but have noticed that it doesn't bother killing any of my weeds that adjoin his front yard. Along his driveway between our properties, he owns a foot or so while I own maybe 10 feet. Mine gets all the weeds which I do pull as often as I can.

But, my Norwegian Elkhound and a cat that used to be outside (he originally belonged to the people across the street and came to visit all the time) died from cancer. The cat was unwanted and my DD saw him listed online as a giveaway and alerted me. I sent her over to get him and he lived with us for a few years. Inside.

Superstitious? Sort of, maybe? I toss salt over my shoulder if I spill it; I don't walk under ladders (that's just common safety, though); I avoided going to summer camps at Camp Crystal Lake (there's a Crystal Lake in Colorado, lol), or babysitting on Halloween. :rotfl2:

Weekend plans? DH and I putting together the buffet server this afternoon. I'm working on laundry. Packing for DH's trip. Saturday, I am going to an 'event' (to be vague so to not get points). 👢👢👢👢 It's supposed to rain, so I'm wearing my hiking sandals, and carrying an ☂️ ; and I have to waterproof some signs. I also have a box of food to put out for the postal food drive on Saturday, if it's not raining; if it is, I'll just run the food up to Publix and drop it in the donation box they keep there. Sunday, taking DH up to his office to pick up the rental car, for his weeklong work trip around FL. That's pretty much it.

Did a quick pickup order at Target this morning; had to get more black cherry juice for DH, so I added on some coffee, milk and creamer, so I didn't have to go into anywhere today. Target didn't give me the black cherry, though; they gave me the Tart Cherry. (I didn't mark it as a substitute, and it shows I paid for the black, so I guess they just got the wrong bottle.) Hopefully it does the same thing for DH. We are ordering Chinese for lunch, from our local 'hot wok' place (DH said he wanted it today). It's actually really good.

Have a good day, everyone!

Good morning to all. Hope everyone is having a good Friday. I'm trying to muddle through a bunch of paper work I need to take to my attorney. I know now if for no other reasons divorce or death, make sure you have your paperwork/financials in order. What a pain. I think the person who wants the divorce (unless it's mutual then split the work) should have to do all the initial paperwork and finding out the prices of stuff and listing all the stuff in the house. It is a lot and so depressing to do it.

Anyway, I'm not really superstitious but in high school I managed the basketball team and we def had some "hard core" traditions we followed for each game. The whole team wore the same hair tie, the other two managers and I always sat in the same order on the bench when doing our stat keeping, I always led a prayer before the team headed out to the court and my friend and I always sat together on the bus.

I need to go get the oil in my car changed. I think I'll pick up a sandwich and eat it at the outdoor table they have while the do their stuff.

Have a good weekend if I don't get a chance to check back in.

Oh...HAPPY HAPPY late birthday wish @flyingdumbo127 !! Glad you had a wonderful day Mona.

Mostly cloudy out now, sprinkles every now and then. Went to Lowes and got potting soil, a rosemary plant, a quart of polyurethans (A gallon is $56? Yikes!) and some double sided sticky tape for my outdoor light.
Stopped at the Outdoor place to look at the mower I ordered. They have 1 on the showroom floor, but it's the prize for a raffle somewhere so they can't sell it. I just wanted to make sure it wasn't too big for me, and that it was easy to operate. The guy showed me how to do everything, but said when they deliver it,,it will be set up ready to use, and they will show me again.
Off to fix some lunch, put a load of laundry in and then go repot the rosemary into a bigger pot

So glad you're getting your mower, Lynn!

Superstitious - not about the day Friday the 13th (my Grandma was born on one!) but I never set the TV volume on 13. Not sure where I picked that up.

Weekend plans - a movie date with DH, who has had a very long week and really needs it. popcorn:: And then DS comes home.:stitch:

QOTD: Not really superstitious. Maybe just a tiny bit. Which is probably more OCD, lol. My grandmother was very superstitious, though, and had a lot of sayings. I learned some of them through my mother. Like if you hear a knock, it means you’ll hear of a death. 😧 Or throwing salt over your shoulder, etc. I think they’re interesting, and like to hear how they originated, but I don’t follow them myself.

Hugs and prayers all around. @Snowysmom I’m glad you made the trip and stayed. I can understand how it was bittersweet. For all, that picture she posted of the view of the mountain of Echo Lake used to hold the “Old Man of the Mountain” rock formation - until it crumbled some years ago. I’ll include a pic at the end of what it used to look like. It was pretty well known in NH. You could sit on the beach at Echo Lake and look at it. We used to take the kids there when they were little, along with a lot of the other lakes in the area. Swimming in the clear, calm waters of a lake is more enjoyable to me than swimming in the ocean. DH and the kids take the kayak out. (I actually fell out trying to get in so I relax on the beach and take pictures, lol.) @dazedx3 I hope things settle out. @frog3101 Extra hugs. My heart breaks thinking of how hard that must be for you.

Going into a busy stretch. Covid cases are coming back up in hospitals, so be careful out there. It’s disheartening, for sure. 😣 Wishing everyone a nice weekend! 🐥

@Pea-n-Me I think you are talking about the Echo lake in Franconia Notch where the Old Man in the Mountain was. I go to Echo lake in North Conway which has Cathedral ledge. It is confusing to have 2 Echo Lakes not too far apart. In North Conway it is off West Side Rd. I remember the first time I saw The Old Man in the Mountain when I was 4. So many wonderful things in NH I really don't want to lose my visits there. I may try Mountainview Grand Hotel in Whitefield some time. It is near Littleton. Or maybe sometime I will want to go back to North Conway when I can think of Chris with good memories and smiles and not tears.

@dazedx3 I am happy to hear that you and DH do not have any symptoms. I hope you are able to go on your trip.

This weekend older DGD has her dance recital. She does alot of tumbling and a bit of dance. Then we are going back to younger DS's house to celebrate the recital and our DGS's 5th birthday.

Next week is my week from the very hot place. Monday I see the attorney for signing paperwork for selling my house. Tuesday is a therapist appt. Wednesday is closing on both places but I don't think I have to be at the house closing. I do have to be at the condo closing. Then I will drop off some stuff at the condo. Thursday Verizon comes to the condo to upgrade the equipment. Friday is moving day. Saturday the kids help me bring things over from the house to the condo, setup TV, wifi, phones, curtains, rugs, etc. I am hoping that once I can leave the house behind me I will not miss it, know I did the right thing, and try to find some peace. I expect to actually live in the condo in a few weeks once I get it in the condition I want it in. I am just praying that the baby holds on with Mom until at least May 23. Selfish I know but I do need help with the move.

I attached a picture of the white mountains from North Conway. There is still snow there at the top.

Have a nice evening.

Oh, ok, I didn’t realize there was another one! We always went to the one in Franconia Notch!

Please try to get as much rest as you can, you have an awful lot of stressful things going on next week! :flower3:

Good Afternoon! 🌸

Sorry I'm so late to posting today. I had started to do so earlier when dad came home from laundry and shopping. Then the computer froze. Here I am :)

Thank you all again for your beautiful and kind birthday wishes yesterday. God truly blessed me with each of you. You know I mean that with all my heart! I had, thanks to God, a lovely day all-around. God always blooms the Jacaranda Trees on our street this time of year. I've attached a picture of one of them and the birthday purple carnations dad got me. Carnations are my favorite flower. Neither of us had ever seen that shade in a carnation before which made these more special.

AuntieMe3, I hope you're enjoying our beautiful weather! Today it's even warmer than yesterday was, just lovely and an extra blessing for me for sure. All of you know lol I am cold blooded!

Our sugar cookies from the store that we had ordered came out a little over done for our preferences, but God used that as a blessing too. Dad was able to leave them for some homeless people near Ralph's this morning. I pray the cookies did bring them cheer. Dad and I did end up baking our own sugar cookies yesterday which meant a lot because we did so together.

I enjoyed so much opening all my cards, including some from dear you! I got some thoughtful gifts as well including from dad a book of stamps which will allow me to I pray send out some extra happy mail cheer. Reminder, that I am always happy to send any of you some mail, just PM me :)

Hugs, Luckyrabbit and so good to see you always. Prayers you are well and also enjoying some CA sunshine.

Thank you so much for the smile, PollyannaMom! You really could put together a book of animal antics and pictures! I'd buy it. I LOVE your kind and wise words to Snowysmom and totally agree! Enjoy your movie this weekend! Speaking of movies, did you (or any other Quacker) see the Christmas movie last year on Hallmark called "My Christmas Family Tree?" I caught just a few minutes if it last night and it looked sweet. I was wondering if I should record it next time it's on. Thanks :)

I hope you have been taking the rest of the day off, Lynn!

Good to see you, Easyas! Porch sitting sounds so nice, I hope you have a good book to read out there, too :)

 and thank you, Judique for all the love you give your Yorkie! What's his name? :) Your greenhouse sounds lovely. I look forward to seeing flower pictures. Prayers always to you, my friend, for health! Added prayers for your friend for his health, too! Thanks also for your birthday wishes!

Thank you, Carol! I'm glad you had a nice day yesterday, too. I'm so glad you did renew at Longwood as well :) I PM-ed you!

Thank you, B&B, for donating food to the postal food drive. I hope you stay dry at the event you're attending.

Big :grouphug:Frog. Thank you so much, my friend.

Wonderful pictures, Pea! Thank you for sharing. I'm so glad you have those good memories. Prayers and extra hug for your safety at work. You, too, Footballmouse!

:grouphug:❤️dear Snowysmom. Love your picture, too! Happy early birthday to your grandson! Much prayer all-around for you next week as well.

Love to all!

Beautiful pictures! Including those posted by @flyingdumbo127 and @Pea-n-Me - The flowers are beautiful and the J - tree, plus the very interesting rock foundation.

Good evening! :sunny:

Really late for me to be on here! I've been busy today. It's such a beautiful day out today, sunny and hot so I decided I was not going to spend my last day of staycation inside painting. Instead I went and bought all my flowers for outside, cut the grass, worked out in the yard, got all my flowers planted and made my hanging baskets :flower2:. I am exhausted!!!!!

I had 2 product studys to do this morning. First I had to go to one of the P&G locations and pick up a bottle of lotion that I'm testing. Then I went to another company and tasted 2 chocolate chip cookies and compared and rated those . Finished up the morning by picking up my grocery order from Kroger. I realized how lazy I have gotten, the dog treats that I get my dogs were unavailable so this afternoon I order them and some Dawn dish soap from Amazon because I didn't want to go to the store this weekend. I have to give the dogs a bath tomorrow so I needed some Dawn.

Tomorrow I'm going to try to get the rest of the cabinet doors painted. I can't wait to be done with this, I'm so tired of painting. I have to work tomorrow night so I'll need to grab a few hours of sleep later in the afternoon.

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Good morning all. Mild outside at 65 and going to 77. First they were calling for rain all weekend, now it's only a 30% chance today. Of course, because the grass needs cutting again, and I was hoping for rain so I didn't have to do it, lol

First I need to strip and remake the bed and clean the bathrooms. Then if it rains I will do a thorough cleaning of the bathroom and kitchen floors.

Stepdaughter is having more health issues. Now her legs are so swollen that she says it feels like walking on needles. They have her on lasix, but it doesn't seem to be helping. She says she can't even hold her phone in her left hand, she can hardly feel it? Her PT people went over her bloodwork again, and are concerned about her Anion Gap numbers I think it's called. They want her into an immunologist as soon as possible, but so far the soonest anyone can get her in is May 23. I think they are concerned that it's either something in her nervous system or something to do with cancer :( Any prayers you could send her way would be appreciated. Needless to say, Mr L is very upset, but tried to tell her not to worry about it till they knew for sure what it was and what can be done. She just started having less pain in the shoulder from the surgery, and now this.

Have a nice morning all, enjoy the weekend!

Love the cute pic. Hate that anyone is suffering such as your DIL and will keep her in thoughts and prayers.

It's overcast here, but not raining. I went out and sat in my greenhouse to daydream about how to arrange it. After doing a lot of research yesterday I've decided on just using the rubber tiles (instead of a cement pad) so that it can be moved if I so desire. Right now I like it closer to the middle of the yard but in a couple of years as I age I might want to move it to the back of the lot where it can be both a greenhouse if desired and a small garden house where one might sit and watch the wildlife. Sitting in it, the birds seem to have less fear and come closer.

There are shelves to fit on Amazon made for it but they don't fit my daydreams. I want to do a u-shape on one end and leave the door end mostly clear. So, about a 6x6 area with a u shape. That leaves 6x6 to sit, and store bags of soil and a few pots to be easily accessible when needed. Plus it's tall enough now to easily stand up and walk through with headroom and will be taller when the 6x6's are set and it is bolted to them. It had shelving but my guess is my SIL tossed it if it wasn't 'perfect'.

Have a great day all! I have to go sweep the patio and consider whether I will cook or order in tomorrow if son in law and DD and kids come by.

Oh yes, I've already got mid June plans and she asked me if I want to go to CT for a few days. Well, yeah, I would have loved to go but I can't undue my plans or I will lose the value of close to 2K. She hasn't even made a reservation yet, but we will see. I will talk to her later and get more info. I hate these basic texts that convey nothing and fish for results. My kids(mostly older DD) tend to throw stuff out there and then wait for me to pick up and do a lot of planning, or cooking or whatever. As I get older I get less strong at doing everything.

She also needs sitter help in summer on Mondays and Tuesdays. Probably will do as much as I can.

@lynxstch I am so sorry your stepdaughter is still having health issues. I will keep her in my prayers.

@dazedx3 Thinking of you and your family

@Judique You have a busy life! I love all the traveling you do.

I forgot about superstitions. I am a bit superstitious. I will throw salt over my left shoulder or knock on wood. However, Friday the 13th does not bother me. Chris grew up in a big Italian family and Friday the 13th is a good day for them. I adopted that attitude from him. His family was also very spiritual people and believed the same about spirit as I do.

It is shredding day at my sons's bank and I have so much shredding to do from cleaning out the house. They only take 3 grocery bags full and I was able to empty one box and start on another. I figure the rest I will do over time, taking a bit every time I come to visit DS. He can keep the box and I will just take some once in a while. I am off to the house to pack one more box of electronics. I was going to bring them myself but my older DS said to let the movers take as much as possible. He is right of course, I am even taking my bins of clothes to the house for them to take to the condo.

We finished making our park reservations for Disney in October. My older DS has not been since 2007 and so much has changed. I am helping him navigate the new World of Disney World. He wonders how anyone can really do this planning and just how many people show up at the park unaware of how much you need to plan ahead. You just need to educate yourself I guess.

Have a good Saturday.

My plan for my next Disney trip is to look for one morning day at all 4 parks and then book Epcot for the rest so that I can hop. All my existing tickets are hoppers. I thought about doing all Epcot because it's the last park usually to book up and just plan on hopping to the others, but I do enjoy that fresh morning feel at Magic Kingdom before it gets too crazy in there and I'm mostly at Boardwalk with a couple of days in the new resort studios at Grand Floridian villas.

I like to try everything at least once and they just released those rooms for booking so I beat the crowd in the early morning when someone alerted me during one of my insomnia sessions. I'll be there first in mid November 2022 for a week or a bit more depending if I keep all 9 nights. Then I go to Hilton Head in January 2023 for 4 nights and continue on to Disney at Boardwalk Villas, end of January and first few days in February. Still have a few points left for 22-23 and I'm straining to keep them so I can bank them to 23-24 for a larger villa if my new grand and son and DIL would want to go somewhere. Doubtful as they are trying to get a house, having a baby and saving as much as possible, but with me it's pretty much a free ride for my kids.

I'll probably book MK for the day I am at GFV, so I can arrive early and park at the resort, and now you can walk to MK. I think it's booked at the end of my visit as F&W ends while I'm there so that would make some sense, but I was just 'booking' and not really planning, so I don't actually remember what I did. Probably need to go look at that, lol.

One thing I'm super happy about is that there is no strain on me to do any of the new planning as if I ride something, fine, if not I've done most of it many times, and my fast or spinning or whatever rides are done. I did FOP with my eyes closed mostly because I was getting dizzy when it was fairly newly opened. It was fine, I did it, but no need to put myself through it again.

I did think about getting younger DD to book the new hotel and have that expensive experience, but it would be such a waste to bring me! But maybe I should go anyway and just enjoy what I can. Younger DD doesn't keep up with Disney and hasn't been for a couple of years, but loves the fast or interesting attractions.
