I did some mowing yesterday also but we had rain by 6pm. I did the push mower part and today my shoulders are sore. I think I have to check the self propelled mechanism because it seemed harder to push. Didn't stop me from pulling a few weeds this morning but it's easier when the ground is soaked. I recently read an article that said hand pulling is the most effective if you get the roots.I didn't realize that it was a Friday the 13th until you mentioned it!
Good thing I'm not superstitious! Good topic for QOTD!
QOTD: Are you superstitious? I'm not, it doesn't even occur to me. My husband gets a little to in his head when he's watching his hockey/soccer/football teamsand if they are losing he will walk away and stop watching for a while, because he thinks his absence will somehow help the team. He recognizes it's silly and we joke about it, but he still does it ha ha!
Good morning everyone. Anyone have any fun weekend plans? I hope to carve out some time to sit out on the porch and enjoy the rain & thunderstorms, but other than that I don't, just some normal running around. We've got to make a Lowes run, and I need to take a few things back to Kohls & Home Goods. I was able to get all the needed mowing done yesterday evening (husband is out of town, so I pulled double duty) ahead of the next few days of rain. Took me about 2 1/2 hours and I got done a fair bit, although not all of it. Oh well, we can only do what we can do sometimes. I have some medical tests Monday that preclude me from really eating much after Saturday mid-day, so Sunday should be fun.
Speaking of eating, I came into the office w/o eating anything for breakfast and now I'm STARVING.
I hate using poisons to kill weeds, insects or anything although I absolutely realize things will not be the same without them. At least I can try to be conscious of it in my own environment on a small scale. But, down in the back the poison oak is climbing the pine trees in my neighbors' yard and then it tries to sneak across into my yard, so my other neighbor will spray it for me as I'm highly allergic. See - when needed I will waffle quickly so I try not to be too judgmental on the issue.
Also, one of my friends called to say he's been diagnosed with Parkinson's - he was in the wrong place at the wrong time in the 60ties, without getting into specifics. He's heading for 76 and sounded shaky. I rarely see him and his wife anymore. We were all camping buddies at one time.
