PVB Tower Charts, Sales Date and more!!!

So, is the better investment to buy cheaper SAP (SSV) and book TP at tower than buy direct to participate in the PIT Hunger Games for SV at 11 months?
I would always buy where I want to stay. And try for seven months at a non home resort. Everyone has their own philosophy on this, but I buy where I mostly want to be but with the ability to try different resorts.

I think you’re missing the point. No one here is expecting OKW/SSR/BWV style points charts. Every resorts’ points charts make sense (for the most part) except for the new poly tower. Whether it’s location, year built, amenities, overall beauty of the resort/rooms, etc. we can all understand why certain resorts are priced the way they are with the points chart. PVB’s point chart is just pure greed.

Let’s look at VGF’s points chart since it’s very comparable to poly given the location and desirability - the lake view rooms are roughly only a 20% upcharge from the standard view rooms.

Same goes for the savannah views at AKL - a roughly 20%-25% upcharge from a standard view. Completely understandable.

Now consider the PVB theme park view rooms are roughly a 40%-48% up charge on points compared to the standard views! That’s a WILD increase. I feel like anyone paying that many points for theme park views, then it should come with club concierge access. Now compare the Moorea 2nd and 3rd floor lake/premier views (also theme park views but not listed that way) compared to the theme park view studios in the tower, and the points chart really starts to not make sense.

Maybe I’ll be wrong in all of this, but I just see this blowing up in DVC’s face with really upset PVB owners in a few years.
You mentioned AKV so I checked their other category, Value, versus Savannah and the Savannah view is ~+90% compared to a Value studio. Nearly double! That’s an even bigger “cheapest view” vs “resort’s trademark view” spread 🤓

I do wonder how few and how bad the “standard” views will be at PIT though if Premium also includes the south/west sides of the building (golf course).

As for upset owners in a few years though… did the Bungalows really blow up in DVCs face? Yes they’re massive point sinks, but it’s not like PVB owners have trouble booking PVB…

I had no idea where I want to stay and still don’t. I know I want to give all the unrestricted resorts a try and maybe one will stand out for us.

I am beginning to think that the points needed at certain resorts make them less attractive to me.

Follow-up question. Since tower studios only sleep four and only have a shower, does that put more pressure on longhouses or 1 BR by families of 5 and/or families with small children?
The double stroller situation is a very real thing. In my case it’s my grandchildren, but that’s even worse because I’m old and impatient 🤣 I will definitely be curious to see the elevator situation at the tower. This sounds like such a petty complaint BUT … IFKYK. My adult children happen to love BWV (that’s just because they can go drink at Epcot) but I hate waiting for the elevator on the first floor in that tiny hallway with the double stroller… add another double stroller and a couple people and that elevator can’t come fast enough. All this to say … the ground floor of the longhouses is just easier for impatient old people and toddlers. 🤣

Once the “newness” of the tower wears off then the SV tower studio should be less popular than the longhouse studio in general. It is smaller and further away from TTC with a guaranteed parking lot view.

Yeah the PVB longhouse elevators really are something. I think it's because they're old. I'm sure the tower will have normal sized elevators.

Do your kids like BWV to drink at Epcot because the nice grandparents watch the kids in the double stroller? I envy them.

Unless PIT wows DW and I, I suspect we will go back to longhouse standard view studios for most of our PVB studio stays. 288 of those longhouse SV studios. Guessing fewer than 30 SV PIT studios.

If most other PVB do the same, PIT SV lockoffs may end up used as 2BRs.

What is this week’s play for an Oct UY blue-card Poly owner with 160 points (mix of direct and some resale) looking for 150-ish more points in light if insane point charts for 1 and 2 bedrooms at Island Tower?…
(1) Wait to add on direct at Poly next week?
(2) Add on at Riviera this week?
(3) Add on 150-200 direct at Saratoga this week to use everywhere?
(4) Forget about more points right now?
(5) Small add on at Poly next week to eventually replace Poly resale points with direct points? Add on another resort later?
(6) Something else? 😀

I definitely plan on using the PVB 2 bedrooms for the next 3-5 years. Once my 3 kids are old enough to be out of the nap phase, then I fully plan on switching to either 1 bedrooms or 2 longhouse studios (will ask for connecting). Neither should be a problem for me because we travel at non busy seasons, and book 11 months in advance.

Do you want to stay at larger villas at PIT, or do you just want more 7mo points wherever?

Do you need to purchase now or do you have some flexibility to wait and see how the incentives play out.

If you want to use these new points at PVB tower with your current ones, I say buy those.

I am not a huge fan of having to wait until 7 months for a place I want to be, unless it is just to upgrade what I have if I can.

So, my vote is PVB. Though getting those other resorts direct get you 2023 points where PVB tower starts with 2024.

1 They may need the owners window for SV and PV.

I do not concede that the point charts are “insane”.

I’d consider adding a FW that plays nice w October use year. Like Thanksgiving week 47. Then if you wanted to offload it later it could be an easy sell. But most of the time you could use it w your other Poly points for 11mo villa bookings.

I think that’d definitely hold value better than adding, say, SSR direct (which is sooo much cheaper resale and you already have blue card)
