Project Runway - Season 3 Official Thread (SPOILERS!!!)

Just found this thread but have been watching all season and agree with many of your observations...

This last challenge was interesting- when they announced haute coture in 2 days I almost choked- I was seriously worried about some of the designers being able to finish the work...

Michael is my favorite- and I can see that had he had another day- his dress would have looked much better- and could have won -he has the most diverse designs and I like how he really thinks about the process and doesn't try to pull something he has already done before into the challenges like many of the others seem to do. But his dress did look great when they tucked in the mouse ears there- very Grecian looking when they did that

Jeffrey is a jerk extreme- I really was never thrilled with his attitude- but figured he'd stay in there to add drama to the show if nothing else- he is original in his designs but really he is over the top at times- the yellow plaid could have been ok- but his dress looked like he just tacked stuff together- and was split way to high- he is lucky he has the model he does- she knows how to sell what she is wearing even if she doesn't like it...

Uli- all her dresses do look the same- she really needs to pull something different out of her hat to stay in there- at least she stayed away from prints this time- but she does well in construction and has skated through each time

Laura- her dress looked like something Nancy Reagan would have worn- definitely not new or different- and I think the only reason she has eeked by is the talent for construction and her contribution to the drama

Kayne- this boy just cracks me up sometimes- he is a bit over the top and you can see the pageant influence in almost everything he does- but I liked his dress last night- maybe a little too much on the bodice when you looked up close- but as an overall look I really liked it and could have seen it on an actress at the Oscars or something

Vincent- he annoyed me but did provide entertainment value to the thing- how insecure this guy must be- geez. His dress last night reminded me of when Carol Burnett did Gone with the Wind skit on her show and came out wearing the curtains (rod included)- His dress looked like formal draperies and wore about as stiffly- I did like the back of his dress- but the sleeve and neckline were just not great. And when he whipped out the glue I knew he would be gone.

And next week they are designing for twins... and Laura has a breakdown about the stress with her pregnancy and mentions the Olson Twins- I somehow doubt it is the actual Olsons (her sense of humor and all) but you never know- But I suppose the question would be... are the designers having a limited time to create two dresses this time?

In future seasons I'd love to see them really do designs for all types- not just their stick thin female models- but men, older population and kids too... I just think it would be neat- they could do the gowns, sportsware, workware- really make them work- Especially with how uncomfortable Vincent was...

I agree-I'd love to see them do more "real world" clothes. My favorite episode was the "real woman" episode when they designed clothes for their mothers and sisters. (I wish I could buy the outfit Oli made for Kayne's mom)

However, I doubt we will see too many more "designing for real people" episodes. The designers complained more about designing for plus sized women than they did about rooting through the recycling plant to find materials to make clothes out of trash for tall, skinny models!

I'm sorry if this has already been posted but I just found it. It's a store for the clothes that have been made. You can see how much (or how little) the outfits go for at auction.

So true!

Jennasis-next time you say Jeffrey is a hiney-hole, you will owe me a cup of coffee. This is two weeks in a row that you have made me about choke. :rotfl:

My DH pretends to not watch PR. :smooth: Last night he went on and on about how much he loved Kayne's dress. He liked the flowy skirt and laced up back. He also thought the color choice was great for his American model's long, auburn hair.

The season finale for the third season will air October 18, 2006.

Didn't you just know that Jeffrey was going to win when they showed him commenting on possibly being the first designer with immunity to win a challenge?

I also knew that it had to be Vincent out when he started trying to "suck on the new judge's toes" on the boat. ICK!

Laura won't be out next week because the previews are showing her taking a hissy fit. My guess is that Kayne will be auf'd. If not him, then Uli.

Why is Laura showing so much already? Is it because she was wafer thin at the start? Between finding out that she was going to Paris and getting there, she seems to have grown so much. I hated her dress last night. How would you be able to tell the front from the back on that dress?

Hehehehe...Hiney hole!

Seriously though, perhaps next week Laura takes herself off the show? I didn't get to see the preview for the next show (stupid Tivo cut it off), but a pregnant mom meltdown could be cause for a self-excusal?

I discovered last night that coutour = tacky. Jeffrey's dress was ULTRA TACKY!! JMHO.

Now I know why I never buy any of it (like money ever entered into the equation at all - lol)

Added - I did like Kaynes dress though. At least he tries to do something different: I was prepared for Uli's dress like that and raise your hand if your DID NOT expect Laura to do a plunging V neck. No one - well, that is a surprise - NOT.

Kayne may be different and over the top and needs to learn "less is more" but he is NOT that predictable. Other than the color on his US model - I liked his dress better in Paris on the other model. She wore it better.

Let's review Catherine Malandrino's card on Vincent's dress. Catherine writes No....No.....No. No. No. :rotfl: :rotfl:

Michael, Laura, and either Uli or Jeffery will be the ideal Final 3. I am pushing for a Michael win! :cool1:

As far as Laura showing so early/quickly--I think it's because she's so skinny, plus this is her sixth pregnancy. Any mom can tell you, you show earlier after your first--no muscle tone left!

I'm another huge Michael fan. He has talent, works hard, has great ideas, and just seems like a genuinely nice guy. Jeffrey is just SOOO arrogant, Laura and Uli have to have more variety. I like Kayne, but as someone said last night, he's got too much Las Vegas. It may be great for pageants, but not so much outside that niche. I'd liek to see his career advance due to this, though.

Did anyone think it was funny when Michael Kors and the guest judge were commenting on the condition of Michael's dress (the damage done by the eggs) and they were laughing about how it looked like dresses that celebrities had borrowed and returned in a state of disrepair. That shattered my image of Hollywood glamour. Can you imagine borrowing a dress from a famous designer to wear to the Oscars and returning it ripped and dirty?

Poor Michael. The judges might have liked his dress better if it didn't have rotten egg on it!

Laura's dress was just awful. Ugly! I am enjoying her more and more as she seems vunerable. Like when she was talking to Tim and said the collar was all she had. And she is so tired.

Did you see M. Kors face when Michaels dress hit the runway. It was almost as if he cringed. It wasn't pretty, but Michael admitted that.

Vincents dress was hideous. But he didn't think so. Glad to see him go.

Kane's dress. I liked it. I could definately see someone wearing that to an award show.

Uli and Jeffery were very predictable. All of them are. If I didn't know before hand, I could definately match dresses to designers. With maybe the exception of Michael, who seems to be able to do many styles.

I'm done rambling.

I agree with this 1000%. Jeffrey is always ranting about Laura's "one trick pony" but the truth is, that is all he has as well. The only true versatile designer up there is Michael.

Loved Kaynes dress...lacing up the back...oh to be skinny and a red carpet to hit. I could see any number of Hollywood hotties wearing that dress. And the color's he used - Loved it!

The concept for Michael's dress - wrapped and rusched (sp?) - I loved it. Loved the color he picked out. It is great to see a designer who can take the criticism from the judges. He knows it wasn't his best effort, but you could tell he LISTENED to them and he learned from the challenge. Also, I believe the judges should have been made aware, that one of the dresses had some damage to it, not the fault of the designer, but by a bystander in Paris.

While it was the same style she always does, I liked Uli's dress. The color was different and it wasn't a print.

Laura - :confused3 - and that is all I'll say on that one. Plus - :dance3:

Jeffery's dress - :sad2: - hated the color, the mixing of the two plaids, the slit up to the models nether regin. I don't care how well she worked the outfit, it was awful.

Vincent - All I can say, is I am so glad that yet another dress got you off....right off PR3, thank the good lord. If I had to listen to him express himself that way for one more challange, I would have suggested we set up a fund for him to seek help with that problem. And I wonder who will wind up with Gia, since from spoilers, we know she is at Fashion Week.

I just found this thread. I live for Wednesday nights! Michael is my favorite. I've loved every single thing he has designed. Remember that gorgeous camel colored dress he did for the dog challenge?

I liked Kayne's dress last night. I thought it was a lot less "pageanty" than some of the other things he has done. I also could see a celebrity wearing it on a red carpet.

While I loved the fabric of Jeffry's dress (hiney-hole :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: ) I thought the cut was ridiculous. What was all that pouffy stuff around the waist?

I liked it also when they did they "real world" clothes but felt they should have all either had Plus-sized or misses sizes in the 10-14 range.

I missed it last night - just couldn't keep my eyes open.. :(

Are the previews they are showing now on Bravo for this past show or the one next week? The preview where Laura is tearing up and you hear Tim saying "Jesus!" in the background. :confused3

I hope that Michael wins...I miss Robert...and Kayne makes me laugh.. :)

HATED Jeffrey's dress, and I can't stand HIM either. I do not know what the judges saw in that dress!

I liked Kayne's dress a lot.

Laura's dress looked like it belonged in the Mummers Parade (Philly area people know what I mean.)

Michael- I don't know what happened there. He was great until then. That dress was all wrong. The color was nice, but that was it.
