No, it's not free (this is Disney after all) and have you seen the crowds in the Riverside Mill around breakfast time?! :)

I wish they'd just re-open Boatwright's for breakfast to be honest, but I wonder if doing so would mean making changes at the other moderates too.

LOL...Well I didn't think so but had to ask ahahah. We usually do breakfast in the room but I have no doubt breakfast there is madness! :) Seems strange they'd do a plain continental breakfast with all the other offerings at the Mill...

A breakfast at Boatwrights would be fantastic! We're making our first trip there for dinner on our last night there. Can't wait!

Exactly, to guarantee AB with a King Bed you would need to have a child aged 3 or over along with the two adults. Or at least have such a child listed on the booking, anyway. As long as there is no Dining Plan or ticket package involved in the booking that wouldn't change the pricing at all, and you know how easily these little mistakes with quoted ages can happen... ;) No, it's not free (this is Disney after all) and have you seen the crowds in the Riverside Mill around breakfast time?! :) I wish they'd just re-open Boatwright's for breakfast to be honest, but I wonder if doing so would mean making changes at the other moderates too. Does anyone know the price? Is it al a carte? Trying to plan a budget for non dining plan food expenses.

It depends on what you order. You can check out the menu for breakfast here at www.wdwinfo.com or www.allears.net to get an idea. Depends on what you want, some mornings we would share a waffle & cereal and others we each would get waffles/pancakes. There were also muffins, pastries, yogurt & cereal if you are looking for low cost options.
Some menus online say that waffles come with fruit and/or breakfast meat but I know from experience you can just order a plain waffle. Saves about 50 cents.

I've not seen any menu details as yet, just been told that they are offering this as quick snack option for people in a hurry to get to the parks. I'd expect it to be cold options only though. If anyone goes, please let me know so I can update my menu listings.

So it looks like we are eligible to check in online for our February trip! When we went to WDW on our honeymoon, my husband and I did online check-in because we didn't have any special requests (we were at the club level of CS), so it didn't matter to us what we got.

This time, we're traveling for the Princess Half and my grandmother is going with us. She's able to walk on her own, but can get tired easily. It looks like our options are Corner Room, Second Floor, Highest Floor or Ground Floor.

We have a royal guest room. Any suggestions on a special request we should make?

The Royal Guest rooms are only in mansion buildings Oak and Parterre, which both have elevators, so any floor should work for you. The outside corner rooms have two windows instead of one, which can help bring more light into the room. I requested such room during my last trip (thanks, Andre!), and it does make the room feel more airy.

Also, if any of these requests are important, you may wish to fax a room request in to the hotel. Venom did a much better job than anything I could ever do, so look here for details: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=3116216

We are staying in a garden view Royal room in March with two young children. Is there a particular room request we should attempt to make it easier to access the bus stops? Our last trip we stayed at CBR and ended up on the second floor (no elevators) with a double stroller and two very tired little kidlets trekking back late nights. We would like to avoid this scenario this time!! Thank you!

For both of you, I'd request Oak Manor. Some far parts of Parterre Pl can be very remote.
For floor requests, I'd ask either for ground floor, or near elevator. Each building only has one elevator, in the middle. So room could be pretty far from elevator for strollers or tired grandma.

There is a bus stop behind Magnolia Terrace parking lot, which is next to Oak Manor. You can see it on resort map on pg 1.

Mike checking in one week from today :yay: hopefully lobby will be that empty :upsidedow.
Nice Christmas decorations!

That's beautiful! Love the colours and the sky.

I just cant get away from POR next stay will be POR for us!

:cheer2: congrsts! We check in a week from today. First stay in a Royal Room! We are doing a split stay within por :upsidedow 1st 5 days RR, on AP discount, then second 5 days in standard room on another discount. Only downside is I prob won't unpack (which I like to do) because we'll have to move rooms.

I'm still torn on what to do for our spring 2016 trip. POR calls to me (I've never been), but the BC is my usual fav. My main concern is that when we stayed at ASMu we had the country building, which was the farthest building on the second floor. It was a MISERABLE walk to food, busses, lobby, etc. :faint:

So my questions are:
Is there a chance of this happening again at POR?
Would upgrading to a preferred room prevent this?

the only way to guarantee yourself a short walk is booking preferred. Also booking a pool view or river view royal room gets you a pretty good shot at fairly close room as well while also guaranteeing that you stay in the mansion section if that is important to you.

My DB, DSIL and their family just got back from ASMu for a week. They ended up for a visit over at POR at my insistence to see what moderates are like.

You have to remember Values only have one bus stop. Moderates have four. So it is comparing apples to oranges regarding walk to the bus stop. They commented on how easy it was to get to the bus stops at POR; they stayed at a remote building in order to get close to parking at ASMu and barely made it back to the room a couple of times.

The only "long" walk you may encounter - depending on your stamina - is the remote rooms that are RR's in Parterre Place. Other than that, I have never encountered more than a ten minute walk to any other room in the entire complex. Most are no more than five to seven minutes.

A preferred room would be about two minutes.

thank you so much Sue! We look forward to our stay at POR.

Las Ventanas at CSR now has a TS (not sure what the details of it are, if it's on the DP, etc) breakfast, and Siestas (the pool bar) is serving a QS breakfast. Seems like opening Boatwright's back up for breakfast would be a smart thing to do.

Interesting. I was in Country Inn one time, and the walk didn't bother me at all. In fact, I liked being further back from the busy pool/main building area.

Same here. If I were to stay there again, I'd want to be in Country Fair or Broadway.
