My daughter is 5'4" and 100 lbs. She's a petite girl, so maybe she'll fit? If we don't get a room with a Murphy bed, is there enough space for a twin size air bed mattress?
5'4" should not be a problem on the Murphy bed. My 5'6" prefers that over sharing a bed.

Hi all! I've enjoyed browsing this thread, so many wonderful photos!

We check in to POR a week from tomorrow :yay:

I am planning to fax a request for our Garden View room to be in Alligator Bayou and for it to be as close to the main buildings as possible (I have fairly severe arthritis in my knees and would love to cut back on walking a touch). I think my DS will like the murphy bed so fingers crossed they can accommodate our request. Looking forward to seeing WDW and POR (I haven't been since age 5 and DS and DH have never been)

I'll try and take some good photos and come back and post!

We did the same thing on our trip last May as my wife has severe arthritis as well. We were placed in building 16 which worked great for us and was as close as we could get without having booked preferred. Have a great trip! We loved the resort!

Our Flight arrives at 6:05pm at MCO. I'm hoping that we can get our luggage, head to ME, board and get to the Resort by 8:30pm to 9pm.

I'm not sure when we can eat...but I'm thinking that we will eat after we arrive. At POR, what foot options do we have?

I'm thinking that Boatwright's will be open at that time and I'm guessing that the Food Court won't be fully open at that time.

I'm thinking we can head to Downtown Disney....but it will be a long travel day...I wasn't thinking of going too far to eat since we will likely be tired.

Any suggestions on what to eat for an evening arrival?

Other way around. Boatwright's is only open from 5pm-10pm for evening meals, but the food court is open from 6am-midnight (most of the hot food counters start serving at 7am, but before then there's still lots to choose from the bakery and grab'n'go items).

When taking the boat from POR to DTD area, where do you get dropped off for the big Disney store, and where do you get off if tou want to go to AMC Theaters or House of Blues. Do you know the hours the boats run from and to the resorts?

There's only one ferry dock for the Port Orleans route, which is located right next to the Rainforest Café - it's on a jetty which branches off from the new footbridge connecting DTD to Saratoga Springs.

From there, you can get an internal DTD water taxi which drops off in the old Pleasure Island area and also by Cirque du Soleil, but to be honest it'd probably be just as quick to walk.

Thank you soooo much!

Andre, the almighty PO guru:laughing: I was looking at the rooms map on the unofficial site and started wondering if you had the distances between room and main bldg and bus stops etc.? I know that would be a pain, but figured if you already had did it and I just missed it. I did notice that the distance between POR main bldg to the end of POFQ and back was only 1 mile. Thanks.

Hi Everyone!

Happy to join this thread again after just booking(today) our second visit to POR. As the first time, we have booked a King Bed. I specifically requested with a Murphy Bed so my toddler can sleep on it. She has been refusing the pack at play lately (for naps at my moms) so by May, she will probably not want anything to do with it at all. Has anyone used the bed rails on the Murphy beds? Or should I just put the chairs against it at night?

we did that just over a year ago and we were pixie dusted to building 14--preferred room. It was about 3 min to food court and 4 min to buses. It was awesome. I am sending some pixie dust your way. :)

Your wish is my command... :)

My FAQs page http://www.portorleans.org/faqs.php#Size gives the best and worst case walks from the different parts of the resort (as the mansion buildings in particular are so large, there is no "one answer fits all" I'm afraid).

Google Earth is a great way to work out the distances by the way - just use the ruler tool in 'rubber band' mode to trace along the footpaths to see the various distances around the resort.

Thanks....so the food court and most of the food stands are open until midnight?

For some reason, I thought that most would be closed by 9pm-ish.

I am hoping that with a 6pm-ish arrival at MCO that we can make it from the Airport ( using ME ) to get checked in, get the luggage in the room by 9pm-ish so that we can eat and take a quick swim at night before going to sleep on our first night at POR.

When you arrive at the airport you do not need to collect your luggage(make sure you have you ME tags on it) you just go directly to the ME bus area and get on your bus. you will get to your resort probably by 7:30. you can check in and get something to eat. Your luggage will come on a different bus and they say it can take up to 3 hrs to arrive at your resort. Enjoy

Also if you pack your swim suits in your carry-on then you can enjoy the pool sooner :)

Good advice. I always pack a swim suit, pjs, & change of clothes, toothbrush, hair brush, in carry on just incase airline misplaces :rolleyes2 my luggage. It's happened. I pack in carry on what I'd need for 24 hrs.

Thanks. I forget, does ME pick up the luggage for us?

Will they deliver it to POR and then will the POR Resort themselves deliver the luggage straight to the room for us?

I totally forget how that works.

If that's the case, then I will carry swim clothes in my backpack for the kids to go swimming once we get there.

Good Morning Everyone,
I have a question that I haven't seen much discussion on lately. How is everyone doing with the "Refillable" Mugs? I heard at one time that some of the resorts were disabling the chip in them due to so many complaints. Is it still true that you can only refill them a certain amount of times per day? If so, how many times? I just want an idea before we arrive next week. ::MinnieMo

Thanks,
Karen

1. Yes

2. Yes, but it takes about 3-4 hours from the time you check in, so you definitely want to have the swimsuits in your carry-on if you want to swim right away.

That's never been how it works. There's supposed to be a time limit between refills to discourage people from using the mugs to fill a larger container, but I think it's only 2 minutes. If you get a paper cup, I think you can only fill it up 4 times in an hour (because it's only intended to be used for one meal), but the mugs have unlimited refills for the length of time they're purchased for (I believe it's 1 day, 2 days, 3 days, or length of stay.) And I've never heard anything about resorts disabling the chips due to complaints.
