Same here. If I were to stay there again, I'd want to be in Country Fair or Broadway.

I've been in Broadway a couple times, too. ;) That's why I don't understand why people often ask, "What should I request?" Not everyone one has the same idea of what makes a good location.

We check in on the 21st with our DD, her DH, our two little grands (6 and 9) and the other grandparents, can't wait!!! The only 2 requests our DD made was to have 3 rooms together (with them in the middle so the grandchildren could have a set of grandparents on each side) and to be on the Mansions side. We don't care which building they put us in, even the furthest one from the lobby/food court is fine. We were in the third furthest one last time and with the bridges crossing over to the main pool area it really isn't that far of a walk to get to the lobby or food court from anywhere on the resort. I know they don't guarantee the requests will be met, but we're keeping our fingers crossed. :)

I have a question about the outdoor movies they show. I know you sit on the ground to watch, so do they provide blankets or towels for people to sit on, or are you responsible for your own?

KCmike: Beautiful photo of the lobby!!!

In the past, I've seen a towel cart positioned at the movie location.

KCmike,
All of your shots are excellent, they remind me of how beautiful POR is! :thumbsup2

Thank you.

Luckily we are going back this April.

Well you may have let me know it is you, Ill be wearing my Disney CM Badge.

I thought it was frowned upon to wear a Disney CM badge while off duty? Where are you working now by the way, have you been able to go back after your illness yet?

It is an older one I found. Not even like current design. Not back yet. Still getting stuff back that I loss from stroke. Speaking is working great, writing and typing I am still working on. I have taken a leave of absence at the time with not a sure return date.

Glad you are doing better. We are going to be there next week. We would've tried to find you to introduce ourselves. Too bad you won't be there when we are but I sure understand needing time off after a stroke. We wish you continued healing. ::MinnieMo

I believe the "Mouse" would miss you if you weren't there anymore. You do a great job helping all the guests. Speaking of that, I just faxed in my room requests for our stay. I used your template. We didn't ask for much, just the ground floor. Glad we had your template for an idea of what to write. :thumbsup2

on allears.net in the POR section they mention this.
...To other resorts/resort areas?

Direct bus service is available to Fort Wilderness after 4 p.m. on the "Internal" shuttle bus, particularly handy for those heading for the Hoop-Dee-Doo Review.

Is this still believe to be current and accurate? I will be there Aprill 22-28, and plan to go to the Hoop Dee Doo, though I'm not sure if we'll be taking a resort break prior or not. A somewhat direct bus route would be a nice option.

For the most accurate information on buses; hop on over to the Transportation Board.

I'm sure this has been asked but I'm having a hard time finding it! So we are 2 adults and 1 child. A king room in AB would be great since DS can have a pull down bed. Is it possible to book a king and preferred room, or does it have to be one or the other? What would you suggest if only 1 option? And this is for hopefully a future trip next year - right now just planning and playing with numbers :)

I know king bed rooms in the mansions are only 2 adults plus an infant, not a child - I believe the king bed rooms on AB side do allow one child, but I have not stayed on that side, so I am not positive.

King Bed rooms and Preferred rooms are separate categories, so you would have to book whichever is more important to you and make the other one a request.

You will want to look on the first page where Andre has all the maps and categories of rooms to verify the room occupancy, but it makes sense it would be one child, because there is the extra bed.

Thanks! Yeah from my understanding I could have 3 in a king room AB. DS would be 4 so not too big for that bed either :). Just thought it might give us more room too with a king instead of 2 queens. I also had trouble finding pics of a king room with pull down bed…

Hmmm. They would both be important! Darn I was hoping it would be a booking option but didn't see it online which is what got me thinking about it.

You'd need to book a King Bed, and then request a building close to the main area (e.g. 14, 15, 18, 27). If you booked Preferred, that would not officially allow for a king bed to be requested as all of the rooms sold as Preferred are regular two-queen rooms.

Room 2728 for example is a King Bed category room, but it's in building 27 and even has a view over the river. See http://www.portorleans.org/floorplans.php for full floorplans showing which rooms are sold under which booking categories.

When the new categories were created a few years ago they did consider adding Preferred Standard, Preferred Garden View, Preferred Pool View, Preferred King Bed, etc - but the number of categories was already becoming unwieldy as it was, so they just made a simple 'Preferred Location' category which includes rooms that would otherwise have been listed as standard or garden views.
